Tai Chi Chen Internal Martial Arts Example

Recommended Posts

In Tai Chi Chen 108, as the left foot slides out, all your weight must be on your right big toe. You root with both big toes then you complete the 2nd half of the microcosmic orbit neikung meditation slightly tilting your pelvis and hips forward. This is what creates the chi to drive your hands upward. You do not actually LIFT your hands... you perform a meditation making your arms rise the same way that another part of your body rises erectly when you meditate about something else.

Then as your hands rise, you concentrate on the tip of the middle finger. then, before you let your hands back down, you spin your ren mai channel by pulling your hands toward your spine while concentrating on the index fingers. Finally, you release your rem mai channel chi pressure and push the chi down your du mai channel while focusing on the palm of your hands.

The general concept of Tai Chi is that the Chi does all the work for you. So instead of burning your own calories during battle, you simply redirect the flow of universal chi to throw parts of your body at the opponent's pressure points.

HORIZONTAL - Basically, imagine that the moment you want to punch someone in the gut, your entire right arm drops into a super fast running rapid river. You relax and the river carries your right arm and fist into the opponent's solar plexus. (this is an oversimplification but you get the point. actually, your entire body drops into a spiraling vortex called the belt meridian. then the belt meridian shoots one clockwise circle (looking up from earth) outward carrying your fist with it)

To do this, you must be able to cycle and circulate your own chi so that universal chi (same thing) can add to it and be guided and redirected by only our intention. Your intention is what creates rivers, waterfalls, and geysers of chi flow. - Within which you can just sit and relax.

VERTICAL - Focusing on the various parts of your hands, middle finger, index, palm (again see acupuncture chart) in the first 108 movement is what triggers the microcosmic orbit chi whirl pool flow like a waterfall and gyser (up the trunk and down the spine).
