Diabetes Treatments

Recommended Posts

A good friend of mine has been diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago. He's 37 and has to inject about four times a day. He said that by doing more sports and watching his diet (no refined carbohydrates, i.e. sugar and white flour) he would probably be able to get down to one injection per day.

I was wondering if any of you can recommend some kind of practice, whether it's specific yoga asana or breathing exercises or some internal discipline?

Thanks

I dont know any fancy breathing or yoga asanas. But me too would love to hear about them!

But I know cinnamon is very good for those with diabetes. He can take one teaspoon before any meal, or buy cinnamon supplements.

Amarican Ginseng is also good for bloodsugar regulation and has showed effect on diabetes.

I was reading recently about nopal.

prickly pear, another name for it.

apparently it is of great use to those who need to regulate bs

levels.

nopal info.

I dont know about any specific energy practises. for this, but .. any good qi gong form should help over all, and effect improvement, and perhaps a cessation of the issue.

Not actually a practice... more a cure...

There was a youtube video posted here around the time i first joined. It showed a raw food retreat for diabetic sufferers. Apparently people were healed. I'll try hard to find the link!

EDIT: here it is - pretty sure this is what was posted!

Great leads and information already.

Thanks a lot.

I'll let my friend know. He pretends to be a tough guy who's not into these soft things, but I guess that's just his mask and he'll try it.

Just explain to him the mechanism of insulin in our bodies. All he needs is to put his metabolism in a ketosis state by diet. No carbohydrates, only vegetables, unsaturated fats and proteins.

Low carbohydrate diet - Ketosis

Hunter-gatherer diet is the most appropriate for diabetes:

Dangerous advice. Diabetic metabolism is already in ketosis. The cells are starving because they can't get sugar. Yet the blood is full of it. The sugar is damaging the tissues. Starvation triggers ketone body production. Ketones acidify blood, acid damages the distal tubules of kidney and other internal organs.

Ketoacidosis is NOT ketosis. :unsure::huh::blink::o:angry::)

Read "Life Without Bread" by Dr. Wolfgang Lutz for the best way to handle diabetes.

What point?

Please explain.

He should learn some form of walking Chi kung and walk 2 to 5 miles a day with deep belly breathing.

Also he should learn to sweep out his internal organs, If you can also get him to do the 5 healing sounds for each organ.

Peace

Santiago

Exactly right.

Exercise is essential.

However...Ketoacidosis is not ketosis.

Xienkula1 is wrong, dangerously wrong.

You misunderstand. Eating reduced carbohydrates is of benefit. However, ketosis can lower blood pH. It is important to keep the pH alkaline through diet. Hydration. Breathing. My friend is diabetic has tried this diet for years. Her blood is overly acidic. She is now growing blind due to the damage over time, along with many other advanced diabetic complications.

there are certain daoyin forms that specifically focus on exercising the pancreas, stomach and kidney, but it's a bit difficult to demonstrate on the computer.

Maybe look and see if there is anyone teaching daoyin in your area?

The good old morning walk is very valuable too.

In terms of food/ herbs. It depends very much on his individual make up. In TCM terms, i think some diabetes can be 'hot', other diabetes can be 'cold' according to body type.

For the hot types, bitter melon is used with apparently good results.

Mate truthfully the best thing your friend can do is to contact Sam Queen at the institue of health realities. They are in Colorado. Please do not listen to any of the dietary or herbal suggestions anyone has given you here!Although each person maybe sincere in their recommendations they can also be sincerely wrong!Your friend needs to have his blood throughly analisied by professionals who understand what they are seeing in the blood and he then needs to follow their recommodations to A Tee.

Diabetes is a modern disease and represents the nature of the foods, water, air and lifesytle we live these days.

Trust me I know what I'am talking about,I have spent the last five years trying to slow down the rapid progression of MS in my wife.Believe me Diabetes and MS are both modern diseases and are often caused by the same percipitating circumstances even though they manifest in the body quite differently.

Having your friend get his blood analised and following the perscription for health that will be set out for him INDIVIDUALLY is the single most important step he can take to help manage his condition. Please let me reiterate DO NOT follow any dietary reccomendations or herbal formulas suggested here. They could be quite poisionous to his body.

I'am in no way affiliated with Sam Queen or the institute of Health Realities I'am simply someone who has seen what works and what doesn't.

Diabetes as you are well aware is a serious disease and therefore should be treated as such.

When going to battle it is essential to be well prepared a comprehensive and properly analised blood report, correct supplementation, individulised dietary program and clear direction are some of the neccesary arsenal to defeat this difficult disease.

I concur with Seadog's sentiments regarding following supplement advice.

It is dangerous to make recommendations without knowing the patients full medical history. Diagnosis needs to be done in person, not via the net. Taking supplements and herbal remedies in conjunction with existing medication is deeply unwise without the approval and monitoring of the patients doctor. It should be blatantly obvious why-all of these substances have an effect on the blood sugar level of the patient.

The patients doctor will set medication according to blood tests done. If the patient then goes and takes further chemicals that also change the sugar level, then the medication dose becomes incorrect. Think then of what might result.

This is why I recommended Dr Joel Furhman's site. He is a medical doctor and can treat patients accordingly, ensuring that they get the correct medical support. As a doctor he has a successful track record of treatment, and in some cases reversal, of the illness. You can't ask for more than that.

I am not against alternative medical means-my own teacher is a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine-but again, any diagnosis, recommendations, can only be done person to person.

Why not tell him to start eating 1 to 1/2 an onion bulb a day -- so long as he chows on some parsley at the end of his meal or incorporates some plain yogurt into the mix, the exuding distasteful smell will dissipate (both from the pores and the mouth).

""Blood Sugar-Lowering Effects

The higher the intake of onion, the lower the level of glucose found during oral or intravenous glucose tolerance tests. Experimental and clinical evidence suggests that allyl propyl disulfide is responsible for this effect and lowers blood sugar levels by increasing the amount of free insulin available.

Allyl propyl disulfide does this by competing with insulin, which is also a disulphide, to occupy the sites in the liver where insulin is inactivated. This results is an increase in the amount of insulin available to usher glucose into cells causing a lowering of blood sugar.

In addition, onions are a very good source of chromium, the mineral component in glucose tolerance factor, a molecule that helps cells respond appropriately to insulin. Clinical studies of diabetics have shown that chromium can decrease fasting blood glucose levels, improve glucose tolerance, lower insulin levels, and decrease total cholesterol and triglyceride levels, while increasing good HDL-cholesterol levels.

Marginal chromium deficiency is common in the United States, not surprising since chromium levels are depleted by the consumption refined sugars and white flour products as well as the lack of exercise. One cup of raw onion contains over 20% of the Daily Value for this important trace mineral." "
