Whatever isn’t a thing (object in the subject-object duality) is “no-thing” :)

Nothing is without properties, features, or attributes of any kind.

Do you think nothing is the same as the void? I always thought of the void or emptiness to actually be pregnant with possibility. Maybe it is, due to its intrinsic nothingness.

no-thing is not some-thing but it is not nothing...

I've always loved this about nothing. It can be neither something nor nothing. If nothing were nothing, then it would be something.

Empty space is anything but empty our common sense is that the void of outer space lacks substance there's nothing there but common sense is wrong.

Empty space is actually not empty at all it's the exact opposite of empty it's as full as anything can possibly be.

Hawking radiation theorized by Stephen Hawking occurs at the event horizon of a black hole.  Empty space is filled to the brim with pairs of electrons and positrons that have fused as one what hawking has theorized is that the event horizon the gravitational field is so strong that these pairs of electron and positrons are ripped apart, preferentially the black hole absorbs the positrons and in so doing decreases the mass of the black hole over time the black hole will evaporate as a result of this and it will seed the universe with electrons.

To give an analogy imagine that space is like a perfectly flat and level patch of ground now if you pull out your shovel you dig a hole as a result of digging the hole you'll have a mound of dirt if you return the mound of dirt to the hole you're back to where you started it's a zero sum situation.

Physicist Lawrence Krauss in his book a universe from nothing explains how given infinite time that a random quantum vacuum fluctuation would happen with such intensity that it could generate an entire universe worth of matter and antimatter.

The Mahayana Buddhists believed that the void or Shunyata was the origin of all matter and phenomenon.

For nearly two decades before 1972, Professor John Wheeler pursued a research program in physics that was predicated on a monistic ontology which W. K. Clifford had envisioned in 1870 and which Wheeler (1962b, p. 225) epitomized in the following words:

“There is nothing in the world except empty curved space. Matter, charge, electromagnetism, and other fields are only manifestations of the bending of space. Physics is geometry.”

definitely not the same thing

the 'void' as you describe it is "pregnant with possibility" (Eastern philosophy use of the term 'void'), I usually refer to this as 'potential'. 'Possibility' is a property or perhaps a  feature disqualifying it as 'Nothing'.

----------------------------------------------------

Note that the term 'void' in western circles is more often used to describe a place where you can't perceive anything. This does not mean it lacks (actualized) things, only that you can't perceive them.

-----------------------------------------------------------

[advanced] a warning for you OBE travelers: there is a lot of reality still in this "pregnant with possibility" state. Be cautious as 'you' can not go there as you are actualized and no longer just potential. As such, if you mange to go there, you would cease to be.

"What  is the sound of one hand clapping",  is it silence?

What is silence?  Is there not a crushing silence and also a silence that is open and free?

(Another context for some of us guys:  If your wife is giving you the silent treatment that can be crushing but if she is  knowingly happy but silent with you that is freeing...)

Indeed : it contains  'the polarity'  however you see it   ( yin yang , + - , etc  )

0  =  +n  +  - n .

or

0 =  '2'   ( 'things' ) .
