Live & Die On Mars/Life on Venus?

Recommended Posts

If Elon Musk's vision of colonizing Mars becomes reality. Would any bums take take him up on the opportunity to explore and settle another planet.

There is time to think it over. No starship has left the ground yet.

Nope . You would have to be nuts . Or brainwashed .

I saw a doco on it ... what a load of BS!    They showed people doing tourism and travelling Mars to see the sights . yeah right , maybe if you are some totally specialist scientists type 1% of the population. Otherwise you be living down the bottom of a lava tube somewhere stuck in a techno job and eating Mars rations . What fun .

Life  (not live )  on Venus is a totally different subject .   Its postulated due to the presence of  Phosphine ; produced on earth by a biotic reaction, produced on Jupiter by an abiotic reaction and produced on Venus by  ..... ?    - perhaps a biotic reaction  OR , citing the paper on it ;

" ... the discovery suggests that the phosphine "could originate from unknown photochemistry or geochemistry, or, by analogy with biological production of PH3 on Earth, from the presence of life".

Of course , most reports are leaving out the   " could originate from unknown photochemistry or geochemistry. "

When there was a Mars One programme a few years ago, they were selecting people who would spend the remainder of their life on Mars.

I interviewed a few of them and wrote profiles on them. They all seemed utterly ordinary. They were neither wide-eyed early 20s idealists, nor were they frustrated middle aged white collar workers. They were boring, if anything. No edges.

I think on hindsight that is the only type of person you'd be able to put in that environment, which is essentially a cage, for the rest of their lives. Someone who has no imagination or dreams. Someone who is always happy with precisely what they have, and never wants for anything else.

I think anyone else would go mad within a matter of months.

Human Beings in their current evolutionary position are not designed nor equipped to evolve to live in places like Mars.  There is utterly nothing there and the atmosphere does not allow for people to even survive without intense and heavy technology.  People are not meant to live like that, which is just like why people are not meant to live at sea, or in the sky...  we're naturally evolved to live on ground with an atmosphere capable of supporting us without intelligent adjustments like technology etc etc.
