Internal alchemy for everyone

Recommended Posts

Saw this review on Amazon- I wonder how accurate it is. If it is, then I'll pass on this book!

Quote

The first section of the book was an interesting overview of Chinese Alchemy - 1 star for that section.
The book tries to clear up a lot of confusion as to what alchemy actually once you get past all the poetry - 1 star for trying to clear it up.

However, the title of the book "Internal Alchemy for Everyone" suggests that there will be practices that anyone can do. This is where the book simply doesn't live up to it's title.

The first stage is a 100 day practice, not too bad I thought. Then you read that you need to:. 1) Get enough money together as you'll be on retreat for 90 days. 2). You'll need to abstain from sex, meat and anything stressful. 3) You'll need to meditate about 6+ hours a day including at midnight and follow a strict schedule.

That is just stage 1 which the book says will get you a bit of benefit. So you spend half the book looking at the theory and that this book will clarify the method only to be told that even the first stage is beyond the reach of most people. Suffice to say that stage 2-4 are even more extreme.
Maybe this is an accurate depiction of what it takes to be successful at Chinese Alchemy, fair enough but don't call the book "Internal Alchemy for Everyone" as it gives a false impression.

At least maybe it's in terms anyone can understand, even if not able to practice. Then if people interested in the topic can see the gory details instead of a bunch of poetry, they will be motivated to finally "shit or get off the pot"

I'm going to put the review here for simplicity.

On the positive side, it was cheap (15$) because I bought it as a pdf from the publisher, and since I will not print it out it is also environmental friendly.

So, what is the method?

Basically, if you take Taoist Yoga (or the chapters from JAJ that covers the same material), and you cut out some of it that you don't see the point with, then you have this book.

So is it Qianfeng Pai?

Honestly, I am not sure. Reading through the introduction gives no hint to any affiliation to any lineage, so this might be a book by a self-initiate with an academic background (which is described in the introduction).

Should you buy this book?

Sorry, my tea water just boiled up, and I have to pour water on my green tea (sencha style) with some heather flower honey in it.

I'll be back in a jiffy... ... ... ...

Buy the book.

As someone who both practices and teaches Qigong, Neigong, Iron Body,  Neidan, Tai Chi Quan, Theurgy, and Meditation from various schools, and has done so for 20 years, I can say that Chungtao's book is one of the best practical Neidan books for Westerners out there.

He shows you how to do the work. Unfortunately, most people don't want to do the work. The work involves a LOT of standing postures, a LOT of correct meditating (diaphragmatic breathing), learning and doing Tai Chi Quan, developing a disciplined mind, ridding your spirit of animal emotions (Fear, greed, lust, anger, sadness, etc.), becoming a loving person, and accumulating merit by helping, and taking care of, others in need, especially if you don't like them.

95% of people won't do this. This has been the way for thousands of years. Most students won't do 15 minutes, let alone 2 to 4 hours of meditating and Tai Chi Quan. Every day. Remember folks, porn is only a click away. <_<

So if you want to sincerely do the work, transcend this world, get rid of all emotions except peace and joy in moderation, then yes, get Chungtao Ho's book.

Most folks doing Neidan want superpowers like Goku, Naruto, or Baruto. Actual, literal transcendence is not what they want. Most people still like eating, sleeping, having sex, etc. They've got jobs, friends, kids, spouses, family, hobbies, etc. that they're attached to.

People need to be really clear about what they're looking to do. Because once you start this process up, there is no stopping it.

Cheers!

“I think that internal alchemy is an experimental science, which cannot be studied only in theory. It is best to read the writings of previous practitioners as the results of experiments they undertook in their own bodies and apply them to our own practice.”

Excerpt From
Internal Alchemy for Everyone

This alone is worth the price of admission. All the praise heaped on books like Taoist Yoga…once you see them in light of the quote they become actually useful 🙂

Excellent book with a shitty title 😆

If it was called “The Great Seal of Dan T’ian Tesseract Creation” it would be on everyone’s heavy rotation 😆

Thanks for turning me onto it dude 🙇‍♂️🙏
