Correct knee position - for qigong standing (Damo Mitchell's course)

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am new to qigong. I can't find a good teacher in my area so I am exploring online video courses.

I started Damo Mitchell's online course on vimeo, for beginners. I am really confused about the basic standing position, more exactly - the knees.

Should they be perpendicular to the ground? Like, from the ground to the knees, there is a straight line up?

I am looking to learn just from video resources, but I want to have a 100% correct posture.

Welcome to the Tao Bums.  A wonderful forum to learn, discuss and cultivate.  Below are 3 important sections: Our Rules, The Insult Policy and our 3 Foundations.  Before you join give them a read.

Most of it boils down to being respectful.  No name calling or trolling.  Post as if your mom's looking over your shoulder.  Discussion and arguments are what the board is about.  Keep it civil, don't get personal.  Don't be a troll or one issue zealot.

We're here for good conversation and make some friend along the way, to be a community.  Jump right in, start threads asking questions, look for interesting threads and post your (relevant) thoughts.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

Michael and the TDB team

Welcome.  I'm welcoming a large amount of new members and I worry your question will get lost in the mix.  I recommend you Post it as new thread.  You'll get some answers from Damo and Tai Chi people.

Shouldn't you be asking him since it is his system that you are practicing? I read somewhere that he responds to queries.

Alignment in standing is a big issue that is very hard to correct by yourself. If i am not mistaken he has some seminars and paid online courses, so maybe you could get some live teaching which is far better than what this site can offer.
