The Apocalypse

Recommended Posts

Tomberg’s commentary on the Apocalypse. This is how he suggests reading it:

the “key” to the Apocalypse of St. John is nowhere to be found… for it is not at all a matter of interpreting it with a view to extracting a philosophical, metaphysical or historical system. The key to the Apocalypse is to practise it, i.e. to make use of it as a book of spiritual exercises which awaken from sleep ever-deeper layers of consciousness.

The seven letters to the churches, the seven seals of the sealed book, the seven trumpets and the seven vials signify, all together, a course of spiritual exercises composed of twenty-eight exercises. For as the Apocalypse is a revelation put into writing, it is necessary, in order to understand it, to establish in oneself a state of consciousness which is suited to receive revelations.

It is the state of concentration without effort (taught by the first Arcanum), followed by a vigilant inner silence (taught by the second Arcanum), which becomes an inspired activity of imagination and thought, where the conscious self acts together with superconsciousness (teaching of the third Arcanum). Lastly, the conscious self halts its creative activity and contemplates —in letting pass in review—everything which preceded, with a view to summarising it (practical teaching of the fourth Arcanum). The mastery of these four psychurgical operations, symbolised by “The Magician”, The High Priestess”, “The Empress” and “The Emperor”, is the key to the Apocalypse. One will search in vain for another.

Apocalypse Tarot card

"

The seers in the early days of the Aeon of Osiris foresaw the Manifestation of
this coming Aeon in which we now live, and they regarded it with intense
horror and fear, not understanding the precession of the Aeons, and regarding every
change as catastrophe. This is the
real interpretation of, and the reason for, the diatribes against the Beast and
the Scarlet Woman in the XIII, XVII and XVIII-th chapters of the Apocalypse; but
on the Tree of Life, the path of Gimel, the Moon, descending from the highest,
cuts the path of Teth, Leo, the house of the Sun, so that the Woman in the card
may be regarded as a form of the Moon, very fully illuminated by the Sun, and
intimately united with him in such wise as to produce, incarnate in human
form, the representative or representatives of the Lord of the Aeon.

Seven are the veils of the dancing-girl in the harem of IT.
Seven are the names, and seven are the lamps beside Her bed.
Seven eunuchs guard Her with drawn swords; No man may come nigh unto Her.
In Her wine-cup are seven streams of the blood of the Seven Spirits of God.
Seven are the heads of THE BEAST whereon She rideth.
The head of an Angel: the head of a Saint: the head of a Poet:
the head of an Adulterous Woman: the head of a Man of Valour:
the head of a Satyr: and the head of a Lion-Serpent.

This sacrament is the physical-magical formula for attaining initiation, for the
accomplishment of the Great Work. It is in alchemy the process of distillation,
operated by internal ferment, and the in fluence of the Sun and Moon.

Behind the figures of the Beast and his Bride are ten luminous rayed circles;
they are the Sephiroth latent and not yet in order, for every new Aeon
demands a new system of classification of the Universe.

At the top of the card is shown an emblem of the new light, with ten horns of
the Beast, which are serpents, sent forth in every direc tion to destroy and re-
create the world.

Further study of this card may be made by close examination of Liber XV

Further  analysis of  Book of Apocalypse  is in the  Golden Dawn  book (by Israel Regardie)  in the section ;  The tarot on the celestial sphere.

As far as the ritual goes that goes  along with the 'secret interpretation ' see  O.T.O .  'Knight of the East and West'   degree .

a note on  "  The mastery of these four psychurgical operations, symbolised by “The Magician”, The High Priestess”, “The Empress” and “The Emperor”, '

First we have 0 the Fool  ... the (sort of ) Dao of the tarot .

'out of that' comes the 'spiritual' level of the male female polarity- priestess and Magician. Then out of that comes the material form , Empress and Emperor ,  then combining all that ,  an hermaphrodite , that isnt back at zero , but at 5 ,  the student and master of male and female , or yin and yang (or any polarity ) and the spiritual and material worlds ;

What more info would you like?

The main point was that you must put yourself into a state of consciousness to know what is meant here.
