This year in the world:
100,000,000 people will die, mostly from "old age",
    2,500,000 from pneumonia,
500,000 from "flu" (mainly old people with pre-existing conditions); and
15,000 deaths attirbuted to "corona .. i.e they had corona antibodies along with the other pre-existing conditions

Except various information sources say that over a million, to millions, have already died of the virus.  In any case, it's kind of stupid to say that many more die of old age than the virus, as if that makes it not matter, because I'm NOT planning on dying of old age real soon.  I'm not going to get pneumonia, or sick from the flu, so my focus now is on not getting the virus, if that's ok with you.

I'm into survival, and I want to meet all threats head on.  Anyone who wants to take a defeatists attitude, or one like it's no big deal, fine, but what exactly are they trying to talk me into, or out of?

I think they are trying to make you lose perspective ,so you panic, Rf wants us to regain a perspective which acknowledges the threat , but understands the importance of living well, bravely, and wisely, like you do.

Above it all or down in the valley.

A quick search came up with several online pharmacies that will gladly sell Chloroquine. In addition to that, the toxic side effects are potentially deadly which is why I stated what I did, without apology. Furthermore, there are desperate people that will take any measure to save their lives and until there is a vaccine or a treatment, there are protective measures for this.

Do not rely on what I say, but do your own research.

The problem with doing one's own research , is that it removes all the expert opinion , the caveats and impartiality, which is illusion anyway.

Why not just eat carrots?

In other words, think and read for yourself instead of reading conspiracy theories or whatever one wants to believe while being under stress. Further, doing one's own research means to pay attention to science in the case of COVID-19.

Chloroquine.

Hydroxychloroquine is supposed to be more effective and have less dangerous side effects, from what I've seen

I had to look up   ' Wumao '  (which is apparently what R is accused of )   ;

If you try to correct the mainstream media's misinformation about China in any way, using concrete facts, you're automatically classified as a wu mao. It's a form of ad hominem used to shut down anyone who commits wrongthink and resists the mainstream media's brainwashing.

The mainstream media lied about Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and numerous other countries, and people are falling for the same tricks with regard to China. Dumbasses will probably call me a wu mao just for writing this.

Person 1: China has 1 MILLION MUSLIMS in CONCENTRATION CAMPSSS!!!!!

Person 2: That number has been debunked by numerous sources, and the person who originally made that claim was being paid by the NED, a subsidiary of the CIA. The detainees are connected to radical terrorist groups and over a dozen Muslim-majority nations supported what China is doing in a letter to the United Nations.

Person 1: STOP STATING FACTS THAT DON'T GO WITH MY NARRATIVE!!! WU MAO!!!!!!!!!

Am I missing something?  This is Earl Grey's thread, is it not?

Ah, yes, apologies, I switched between threads and forgot.  Will edit.  Could you please remove the quote?  The last time I deleted something a minute after posting it was already too late and Ralis grabbed that quote and trolled up a storm around the post the OP deleted.  Please let's not let him do it again.

I also stated the dangers of these drugs in which a toxic dose of two grams is lethal. Your advice is not medical, but poses dangers since you are not a qualified health professional. Further, I am not big brother!

Sounds like a threat to me! I am history?

You are, you are his little pathetic wannabe brother dreaming your totalitarian control dreams.  And who gave you the authority to "state the dangers of these drugs" -- or the mind-boggling IDIOCY of 2 grams being lethal -- are YOU a DOCTOR???  Who gave YOU the right and the authority to spread disinformation???

Get lost, VECTOR.

I ain't no mod, honeys. I started the thread, but I have no power other than wishing that we keep with the spirit of the guidelines of the OP.

Since we keep talking about it being "my" thread and seems like some people want me to say something about it, let me change into something more appropriate if I'm going to be someone else acting like a mod.

All riiiiight, ladies. Let's look at things here.

@moment, you said my name, but you forgot to say the proper full titles, for which "The Fabulous Earl Grey" or "Sweet and Handsome Earl Grey". That is a minor sin, darling, but no problem. Shantay, you stay.

@Taomeow, honey, you already moved your beautiful work over to your lovely PPD, even though you still kept within the spirit of our girl talk here. Shantay, you stay.

@ralis, baby, we love you and your hard work as much as you love redheads and blondes, but if you wanna play cops and robbers for us here, I suggest you switch your steel handcuffs out for some fuzzy ones and play nicer and naughty, honeycakes.

Shantay, you stay.

Now, before our thread goes cray-cray, I'm gonna say this once:

You better lip sync for your lives, darlings!

I hope we got dance fever now and not corona, darlings. Now let's kiss and makeup before going back to playing nice here.

@Nungali LOL, you are way off.  Did you get it from the mainstream media what a wumao is? :D That would explain why in your rendition Person 1 calls a wumao someone who goes against the mainstream narrative.  Nothing is farther from the truth.  It's Person 1 who is a wumao.  A wumao's function is to promote the mainstream narrative and thought-police any and all statements that deviate from it.  And if you try to debunk this narrative with facts, a wumao will immediately dispense the label pre-printed for such occasions: "conspiracy theorist!!!"  He won't call Person 2 a wumao (which is his own function) unless he is particularly devious...  gosh, who has ever heard of a devious wumao?..

Not really, my point is that you or I rely on other people's investigations, and we need to logically test whether conspiracy happened ,whether there was a confluence of strategy , or whether everything has been peachy -or nefarious.

But in terms of dealing with the virus only, we individually need to weigh threats and values.

We have to do that , at the risk of not being sheep, we may not come to the same conclusions.

@Earl Grey Thank you, darling.

I think I'm done with general areas in general unless either the sentiment dissipates or someone/something miraculously keeps the Troll-in-Chief & Co. off my back.  They can have it all to themselves now.  I've very difficult papers to read and understand (not just difficult for an autodidact who's only invested several hundred hours into studying this, but also for specialists, judging by what I hear from my virologist, microbiologist, epidemiologist and MD comrades-in-brainstorms).  It would be counterproductive to spend any time I dedicate to taking a breather in between to, of all things, this.  We're under shelter-in-place order since Thursday and I'm busy keeping things sane.  Which probably means sayonara except for my PPD where you and everyone are more than welcome to hang out and participate.

All right, then we'll bring the party over there too, honey. Just remember, we still love you, and even if we didn't:

I just watched Fauci on Levin, he is operating from the luxury point of view, that thinks the community needs to respond at the level of our weakest people, and that money is not an important consideration.

Poverty kills.

That, those who have almost no risk ,need to suffer ,throw their jobs away, become beggars of the govt ,right along with old folks like me.

Is bad and wrong.

They've been given the two weeks to 'flatten the curve'...  times up.

Value estimations are not 'Science', and Fauci, while competent to advise on virus progression, is out his element making socio economic decisions.

Upwards of eighty percent of people won't only get significantly ill , but they can sustain the country , businesses jobs.

Give the masks to high risk folks , suggest they stay isolated and reopen.

One last thing,, I recognize why people are concerned , and they have every right to be.

Hole up in your house, pay for deliveries to be left at the door. Sacrifice your job savings and relationships for a year, until Fauci gives the signal you can come out.  Go for it.

BUT, if you come out and get sick ,it's on your own tab, you chose to risk it. That's not my fault, nor Trump's.

Those actually may be easier to acquire at this point in time.

True enough, because they are being used elsewhere. The choice of mentioning masks was intended as symbolic of applying prophylaxis on the most at risk, rather than squandering limited resources on people who's immune systems can handle it, or aren't likely to be exposed.

Taoism touts 'enlightened self interest' , the useless tree for example, isn't doing anybody any favors, or demanding any in return. People collect in it's shade and carry out their own business. Get it backwards , and you have everybody imposing on everybody else.

If I want to go to a ball game ,or cruise,I can't , it's closed down because the person who's health I would be looking out for, might get ill , right? But if they're worried about the virus, they wouldn't be there anyway!

So nobody gets to choose to do anything.

How much unpreparedness up to this point do you think is Trump's fault?
