Lust and demons?

Recommended Posts

Hello daobums. For those of you that are serious practicioners of energetics. We know that gaining Qi and working with Qi opens us up more spiritually. That being said, I'm wondering if the energy of lust, could attract certain demons or spirits that feed off the lust you're having in the form you're projecting? Does the energy of lust in general drain you of sexual energy? Is sexual energy drained only through ejaculation or does just simply having lust drain you energetically? Is there ever an okay way to express lust, like having love and lust come together in a relationship with a friend/partner? So those are my main questiins. Does the energy of having lust drain your vitality even if you don't ejaculate? Does the ENERGY of lust itself  drain one? Do you attract demons and spirits that feed off the lust? And what other emotional states should one avoid that spirits could feed off? I would be so grateful for a true answer. Lately ive been feeling like I'm wrong for masturbating and I had to come here and ask. I look in the mirror and just feel ashamed.

If you think something drains you then it probably does. Why else would you ask the question?

Because I've wanted to know what other practicioners thoughts and experiences were. It's like knowing a certain show appears on a particular TV channel but you ask your friend anyway just for reassurance. Because other like minded insight gives more clarification to things you may have intuitively felt.

Lets start with meditation. Most folks who  meditate  agree universally that getting up at around 4 am and sitting is one of the best times to meditate.  one of the reasons for this, is because in men,  this is where our sexual energy hits a kind of peak, (morning wood).  so getting up early and sitting moves this energy.  As far as "lust" goes,  this is just normal energy,  feeling bad about natural energy is kind of a western religious  puritanical idea.

As far as getting horny, and then trying to force this energy somewhere else, I personally would not do that. Once the energy is there, then may as well find someone you enjoy being with and respect and have wild monkey sex.  nothing wrong with any of it.

Lastly, my own take on the whole " demon" thing, is that negative things are attracted to fear, insecurity, loneliness, and any number of negative aspects of our ego mind.  accepting life in a non-grasping way, seems to work for me.  good luck and pound away.  LOL

Zen Pig put out some great advice.

Resistance only attracts and it’s a nothing thing unless you get all bent out of shape - demons can be eaten for breakfast on toast - unless you worship them in fear like many religions teach.

Like an elephant terrified of a mouse.

Sex is completely natural - but again religious condemnation makes it wildly exciting - access to porn everywhere kinks it - lay off the hard stuff and find your way in all of this.

Worry is the biggest drain of all - and it accomplishes nothing.

Religious dogma can be tossed aside in exchange for a mature view.

This whole idea of draining oneself through sex is like worrying that you will dry out if you cry too many tears.

It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

overblown.

Ways to deal and ultimately overcome sexual desire.

1. Diet.

2. Open leg channels. 'Heavy' physical work is needed, ie. Bagua + foundation work.

3. Meditate throughout the entire day and night.

4. Move around a lot when deep sexual urges start to bother you. It makes sense why some practitioners become wandering monks, after living in a monastery for sons time, and wandering ascetics. Move, move, move, travel long distances in foot. Sitting on a chair the whole day will only make things worse as you won't be able to transform the excessive sexual energy (Jing) into Qi and then into Shen. From gross energy to the most subtle one. Moving a lot is crucial here. *This is not an easy decision to make and few only will succeed!

*Note: ultimately you have to become a renunciate to completely remove it from your energetic system (one aspect of the Mind). It's one of the most difficult barriers one must overcome in this path, actually one of the last two.

Good luck :)

Natural for those who are to weak to battle sexual desire, one of the major hindrances to open up yourself to the ultimate.

Sexual energy is very powerful and it's the best tool to open up channels, cleans organs, make you more energised, meditate deeper, better and longer.

Sex is great if you are an ordinary person, a real hindrance if you are on this path full time.

Religious dogma is as dangerous as the view that sex is great. ;)

I'll send this to my wife and I can guess her reaction to forcefully suppress my sexual desire :D

After two black eyes and a visit to the doctor, I'll send the bill to you :P

On the serious side, love your posts.  Thank you :)

This is a very personal viewpoint - and obviously true for you.

It is not truth however.

For some it is not so rough and difficult and for others it is fairly imperative - but even in those that practice intensely such as you appear pridefully to rally behind - it can happen as you describe or it can happen with far less effort and dogma.

The practice of abstinence here and there when called for is useful and can be as good or better than total renunciation.

As it also does happen - at many levels abstinence simply takes place. When I Awoke sex ended.

It did not require the type of effort it had before in 40+ years of practice. (It did occur to me to look into Qi Gong and it did occur that my leg channels opened far more than they already were.)

Also  - each time abstinence was useful to engage in, it became easier. However - it is true that the desires can be intense and last in full intensity well into the twilight years.

Regarding sex in general it is healthy and in so far as practice at the very highest of levels and intensity - it is dependent upon the individual and the teaching one has adopted if any.

Also note - my original response to the OP (original poster) was in response to him and what he laid out. From this standpoint abstinence would be ill advised - having nothing to do with weakness or poor practice or shortsighted obscured understanding of the subject.

Abstinence from fear of demons and an inordinate preoccupation with “lust” is in need of re- direction.

Twisted and rigidized views of sex are unhealthy. As are recipe approaches to Awakening/ Enlightenment. Glorified self approaches are inherently full of personhood and straw man inner conflicts.

The path you are on is yours with truths for you until they are not.

In my experience,  the way to eliminate unnatural sexual desire is to stop trying to control it, and at the same time, not act upon it. Just let it rise in your awareness, and watch. It is not very hard to do...but might take a few attempts to do so. Little by little, you become aware of where it is rising from. And eventually it will subside once you know its root cause.

PS: When it naturally rises (due to biological reasons), it is not a problem. When it becomes a chronic mental clinging is when it is a "problem". I'm sure there are benefits to abstaining at regular intervals. But depending on your age, the drive will gradually subside (the biology triggers it at regular and progressively expanding intervals).

So true in my experience - and the drive in my case did not subside with age until it abruptly ended.

Wow. thank god that I am an ordinary person.  dodged a bullet on that one.

Buddha died,  Lao Tzu died. Jesus Died.

The idea that someone who does not fuck is special, is such hubris.  maybe special as in short bus special. LOL.  Good luck with all that.
