Should I get a Qigong teacher regarding increasing energy et cetera

Recommended Posts

I'm a beginner that wants to increase my energy and focus with meditation, qigong, semen retention. But I have little help regarding this stuff. I have a lot of questions like, should I even practice semen retention? I found something called "testicle breathing". Some guidance would be useful, but I am getting the impression the forums is not very helpful, but if someone could help me I would be happy.

Wow, why do you want to begin with semen retention ?  Is it because of porn or something ?
Why are you beginning ?
What is it you would like ?
What is it you have seen ?

Well the reason I want to increase my energy is to be able to focus on my hobbies better, i'm already doing meditation and exercise lately. But I'm usually tired. So it helps a lot. And yes I'm quitting porn I can't get horny without porn. Also I've read mantak chia but I didn't do much with it, I got confused a little with people saying you need to feel chi first and practice qigong

Tired at 19 ?   Something is not quite right there.   Is your work / relationship life in good state.

All forms of qigong should clear out blockages and give you more energy.

And it is important to clear out bad mental habits ... negativity violence and so on.

And anything that makes you doubt yourself, be yourself because you will never be anyone else.

I think you are too young to do semen retention, better to put it were it's mean to go, isn't it.

Doing 5 animals 6 healing sounds with the healing tao should make things more regular energy wise, but at 19 your energy is very strong so needs healthy outlets.

Also good to let yourself really rest when you need to.

Internal cultivation is serious and shouldn't be viewed as a hobby. Search "qi deviations" on this forum to see what can go wrong. Having a teacher helps avoid the worst and let's you have a cure in case it happens.

If you choose to use books, you are on your own. Good luck!

I am using antipsychotics atm they might be ruining my life.. I do have a lot of sexual dreams and when I control my eating habits I get dreams where I eat a lot.. I also rape girls in my dreams. I have rape fantasies and I reject them in my mind when they pop up.

Do you have a doctor or therapist? - I'm assuming you do since someone prescribed the antipsychotics - in which case take their advice on the kind of things that might help you.  Otherwise be gentle with yourself, do healthy things like eating good food and getting exercise - and some basic breathing exercises perhaps.  Don't try anything like semen retention till you can get off meds and even then think twice.

Dreams are dreams, don't have to mean a thing. We all have weird fantasies and thoughts. That does not make them better but no need to be obsessed with them.

If you are using antipsychotics then well I guess you need them. It is vital to be in contact with a doctor, but you do know that. Some easy qigong movements could really help ya. I would not go into meditations if I were you without a leading of a teacher and possibly a doctor.

Apech's advice is solid! Go with that.

Then you are out of luck sorry. :(

Avoid meditation and qigong like the plague unless your therapist suggests otherwise.

Most qigong systems MUST NOT be exercised by people having mental problems.

This is not discrimination of any kind, internal arts will magnify these problems, not cure them.

I have been put on antipsychotics too. Before that i had good physical condition, was doing jogging, zhan zhuang and sitting meditation. After i started taking these drugs, my physical health and nervous system deteriorated fast. Although i was able to do exercises and meditation in the beginning, but because of effect of these drugs on my nervous system it had almost no positive effect.

And after some time i lost ability to do any of these exercises and meditations.

Its just my story, you might be on different drugs and it may effect you differently. Also i must warn you that drug withdrawal is very dangerous process, which may cause serious damage. I am not suggesting you to withdraw, i only want to warn you.

I also have these various daydreams, they are getting more manageable and less intense now, but i would like some solution for that too, cause its really tiring sometimes.

I like what Miroku and Zork said.  I'd also recommend against energy type exercises but light simple sitting meditation might not be so bad.  A grounding art, with an experienced teacher who knows you and your conditions could be helpful.  I'm thinking about yoga.  Sometimes getting in touch with your body is a way to learn to control and discipline the mind.

It's good to take hikes in nature. That's healthy meditation and exercise all rolled into one.

The semen retention practices are all fake. Even people without problems don't gain anything from doing them.

Well, you know much of these kind of problems are very common for young dudes. It really helps if you talk totally openly with your buddies about it. Chances are, they are/were going thru the same thing, and can offer some good tips. And because you can see how much it really helped them, you'll have a much more vivid expectation toward it.

And because qigong effects on you are usually super subtle, and also because you don't really know who are you talking with here on the netz, you can spend a lot of time just being lost in the dark.

Only if there is a daily qigong routine that you do not have a problem maintaining(not so easy to find one), then I'd say try it for few months.

Personally, I'd just go to an acupuncturist, helped me a great deal.
