19 year old interested in improving vitality and brain health.

My goal is to become a genius but I am tired usually, so I heard semen retention would improve your energy, is there anything I can do to increase my brain energy? Am I doing something wrong? Some easy practice would be useful.

Yes, everyone would like to become a genius, I think!  Or at the very least - the best version of ourselves.  Make sure your diet is good, plenty of water and don't spend too much time worrying about things. Enjoy the forum!

 

You are welcome to jump right in to the ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, start a new thread of your own, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forum to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

Intelligence is not really about having more processing power in the brain.   Real intelligence means that you yourself know who you are and what you want ... and then you can do it.

To be able to do things, start projects, study well, learn well, be self-actualizing, having good relationships, working with people, struggling against difficulties .... these things are not so much about having a massive brain .... and these things are what counts.

Everything of value is learnt gradually through many small concrete lessons with good teachers.

You already have enough intelligence, but do you know what you know ... and do you know who you are.

It's also good to have a variety of experiences, and to have experiences that are difficult.

@rideforever gives good advice. I would add the following:

 

Write stuff down. Write down what you want to achieve in the next year, two years, five years. Built a list of milestones (steps) that you need to achieve in order to do these things. Periodically evaluate your list to see where you are, how far you have gone, how far you have yet to go, and adjust as needed. Few people have true genius but everyone can do what I describe.

my 2 bits would be include the above, ie getting fundamentals down, healthy life style choices.. diet, exercise, goal setting.. discipline.

 

I'd add you might want to look into Win Wengers stuff.  He explores increasing 'genius'.  Including some less orthodox ways.  To me Genius is connecting things in useful unorthodox ways, then a whole lotta sweat and time to make it practical. 

 

 

P.S. unless your in a specific art that deals with changing jing to qi.. kind of stuff, then at 19 retention may bring more tension and exasperation then genius.  Generally for the young, imo, aiming at a disciplined approach is better.  Still, nothing wrong with seeing what month or so without does if you're interested.
