I don't think so.

It's just that some people can see it better than others.  Have to take off the rose tinted glasses.

Hi rideforever,

The seventh lunar month starts on 11 August till 9 September 2018.

There will be many prayer sessions in Singapore.

I will chant for - Lieutenant Commander Saman Kunan.

I will do it at a temple in Singapore on 27 August 2018 - from 9 am to 5 pm.

Can I also chant on your behalf too?

Yes you can.
Well ... I think we must use this opportunity to learn and grow.
He might have been a fine man, a courageous man, but he seemed to be overconfident and this lead to his death, pushing his air supply too low and dying whilst switching tanks.
We can only honour him if we also learn the cautionary tale.
Existence will care for him like their child, which he is.

Yes ~ every life a road less traveled.

Saman's life - a memory  marveled?

(The chanting will be at a Buddhist temple. Is it possible to PM me your full name?)

Reminds me of Steinbeck... God, I haven't thought about this quote in 20 year...

"My light is out. There's nothing blacker than a wick.
Inward I said, I want to go home---no not home, to the other side of home where the lights are given."

But we each must carry our own light and feed it in order for it to shine.

Right. In the book, he was getting ready to kill himself. But then he felt something in his pocket which reminded him of his daughter, and he decided to live, for her, "else another light might go out." I'm morbid, so I think that stuff is beautiful.

I don't consider that morbid.  I consider it "True Grit".  Some people sink so low that they need an external reason to continue to live.

Living for another is a good reason.
