Same is true all over SE Asia actually.

Another amazing SE Asian plant with great healing properties is moringa, aka drumstick tree. The pods are delicious and the leaves are supposed to be packed with nutrients!

I love tamarind!  Looking forward to eating a bunch in India next year when I travel there ^_^

I've heard the fruit can help detox fluoride from the body and pineal gland.  I believe it intuitively, but don't know 100% if it is true in a rational way.

Tamarind is common here in Mexico where it`s often made into a fruit water.  It`s also a common ingredient in traditional Mexican holiday fruit punch.  I`m not a fan of the water but love the punch.  Here`s a quick recipe...

Boil until soft a mixture of any or all of the following:

cinnamon sticks

diced apple

diced guava

whole tejocote

raisins

prunes

oranges

tamarind pods (outer husk removed)

hibiscus

piloncillo sugar

sugar cane
