Recommended Posts

What brings me here ... hmm ... I'm at the beginning of a periodic life-refresh.  I've had years of moderate Zen practice, which fell off when I got into a very busy relationship, but now I'm back to recognizing my need for centering and perhaps more organic and intimate relationship with my body and its energies.

I've had friends suggest Taoist practice for years, but I've always danced around the edges.  Now, I'm more intrigued, and have been exploring it some, very intrigued by the spiritual and physical healing aspects of it.

Looking to grow.

Hello richardn, and welcome.

Your membership is approved and we're happy you found your way to us. We look forward to accompanying you on some of the way that you still have to go.

Please take the time to read the post pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

Marblehead and the TDB team

Hi richard,

Ah!, relationships.  Beneficial and hindrance.   We dance a lot here.  Some even dance to their own tunes.

You are welcome to jump right in ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, start a new thread of your own, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forms to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

May you enjoy your time here.

Hi richardn,

I choose not to click onto a 'Hello' thread. Why?

If I do so one time too many, it will be difficult for me to identify which is which that I have participated in.

In this instance, I clicked on a 'Hello' randomly and I found you - light and fluffy.

I had indicated before that I like chiffon cakes.

I am still germinating as a Taoist bum.

And you are "looking to grow",

Can we develop in tandem?

But I do not wish to grow too fast.

I like to develop as an apple tree.

You like apples?

Welcome to TDB richardn (-:

For those who don't recognize it, that's called "the shag" and it came from just south of Wilmington, NC, but is usually associated with Myrtle Beach, SC.

Oh! And Curly Howard was a champion ballroom dancer.

That dance style is an evolved thing from the late 1940s.

You were a teenager, then. Right?

Not quite a teenager yet at that time but music was already a part of my life then.

Hi Brian + Wudao + Marblehead,

Good morning.

Within today I will invite solstice93 to this thread to engage a 23/24 year old's take on your above posts.

When solstice93 is here, please be polite with your words - especially you Marblehead.

It is quite alright to introduce The Shag to him; but not too much. Otherwise slostice93 will be shagged.

In an average context/environment shagged = tired out.

But according to urban DICTIONARY:

The same thing as f..ked. But in the u.k. they say shagged.
I shagged that girl i met at the club last night.

See I told you to be careful with words. Please watch yours especially you - 'measure + touch'.

Well, it's morning time here in my world so "Good Morning" to you as well.

One of the most important aspect of life is to understand the reality of it.

When I first became active on internet forums I was amazed by how much the Aussies love to use the word "fuck" in its various forms.

Sure, some people will get offended by the coarseness of the language I use to present my opinions and understandings.  I'm not trying to impress anyone with my literary abilities.  Just sharing thoughts as simply as I can.

I had always loved to dance until I broke my hip.  Can't do that much anymore as it hurts when I do.

Now here's a dance style that I just sit and watch:

Spoiler

Hi Marblehead,

But of course. Keep on being the way you are.

Don't ever change an original even though you "reserve the right to change my mind".

I am sure many would not mind your reserved right, although you may reserve wrongly.

But then again you "reserve the right to be wrong".

Can I raise up a white flag now to preserve my sanity?

Peace Bro' peace.

Sorry to hear about your hip. Take care and chin up.

Hip hip hooray!

Hi LimA

Shag means the same thing here too;  the Shag is a very sensuous dance. (-:

Here's an old joke for you:

Do you know why Baptists are against pre-marital sex?

Because they are afraid it will lead to dancing!

Enjoy!

Hi WuDao,

I am confused thus:

(i) After doing The Shag, you dance?

(ii) But isn't The Shag itself a dance?

(iii) You shag first, then you do The Shag?

(iv) Or after doing The Shag, you get shagged?

"Shag means the same thing here too" - this I am very clear. It is 4-lettered too.

Are you shagging (i mean doing The Shag) this weekend?

LimA is Not too confused, methinks B)

1. The Shag is a dance

2. See #1

3. If we're not too tired. We're pretty old; almost as old as Marblehead.

4. More chance of that than #3.

And in reply to your extra credit question:

Maybe! You know, Both. ^_^

Hi WuDao,

On a Taoist front:

1. We are never too young/old to do The Shag?

2. Who is active/reactive?

You said #4 is more chancey than #3 - but of course.

A shaggy weekend.

Yeah, that's what created the term "dirty dancing".

We did it back in the 1950s too.  Nothing new.  It actually evolved out of the 1940s R&B dancing.

On the contrary.  LimA got totally confused with that one.
