Looking for someone to exchange skills and knowledge with

Recommended Posts

Hello from Windsor, CT.

As my posts says, I'm looking for people to network with in person (as well as on the forum).  I've been practicing martial arts for 15 years, last 5 years have been focused on wu style taiji and really trying to get internal.  I've practiced a bunch of kung fu styles as well as western martial arts and taiji is where it's at for me.  I'm hoping to find some like minded people in the area that would like a friendly, no ego exchange of skills and ideas and just try to get better together.

I'm also a long time qigong practitioner and I recently got my degree in TCM from beijing so that's another thing we could explore and discuss.

Anyway I'm fascinated by the internal arts and after having felt what's possible from my shifu, I really would like to get some hours of experience in.

Hopefully there's someone out there looking for something similar.

Hello Mach, and welcome.

Your membership is approved and we're happy you found your way to us. We look forward to accompanying you on some of the way that you still have to go.

Please take the time to read the two posts pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

Marblehead and the TDB team

Hi Mach,

I'm sure you will find members to talk with.  Beyond that, ... Bet wishes.

You are welcome to jump right in ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, start a new thread of your own, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forms to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

May you enjoy your time here.

Welcome to TDB. Internal Martial arts is awesome. Best of luck. I know Taiji tends to emphasize standing postures for there internal work. Perhaps you might consider the 100 days building the foundation. Darn Hamel whom is another Taiji guy has some good videos on the topic of Taoist Alchemy (Internal Work).

One Hundred Words Poem Of Master Lu Dong Bin:

(this is a very much simplified version)

1. Cultivate Qi, forget speech,

2. Quiet heart, act effortlessly.

3. In movement and stillness know your true self,

4. There is nothing to want for; who is searching?

5. The eternal self must respond to the world,

6. When responding, don’t get attached and lost.

7. If not lost, mind dwells on itself,

8. When mind is settled, Qi returns.

9. When Qi returns, Dan Tian is reconstituted;

10. Fire and water arise in the center of the cauldron,

11. Yin Yang are continually reborn,

12. The mundane is transformed in one clap of thunder.

13. White cloud rises to head’s top,

14. Sweet dew sprinkles the celestial mountain.

15. Drink the wine of immortality,

16. Be at leisure; who is going to care.

17. Sit and listen to string-less melody,

18. Gain understanding through Nature’s secrets.

19. This poem is in 20 lines,

20. Now it’s up to you to climb the heaven’s ladder.

I am gender neutral but double-based,

My Mom and Dad infused me so.

I am active and yet latent,

The attacker that I am loves my submitted self.

My first chakras calls on my sixth, and vice versa.

They communicate when I am calm and hushed.

I am internally adequate and externally appropriate.

I am a budding Taoist and that’s my chosen fate.

I am getting better as a TDB per the recent in-take.

Now I have no hate; just Nature endowed love.

I am an apple tree.

I'm sure this website will be a place where you can connect with like-minded people.

The internal arts such as qigong are something most people here take a special interest in, as you do.

Thanks for all the replies guys, and I quite enjoyed reading those poems.  Also thanks for the video regarding building the foundation.  I'm always looking for ways to make the foundation ever stronger.

Hi Marblehead,

In and out of bikinis? Very revealing and suggestive.

Now my lucid and fertile imagination is on high octane; and my mind and body have gone into high gear.

Nothing is near or far anymore. Everything is into the moment.

Which is which? In bikinis - yin and out of bikinis - yang? Or vice versa?

Will not post for a while. Why? Going straight into the MOMEN(hot!).

You are barred from my moment; but you can keep on banning.

Wow what e c s t a s i e s ...

Dream on, brother!

I revisited this thread and recalled the above 100 days poem a gem. Can anyone internalize each of the 20 pointers and come forth with their own experiences/words? If there are sufficient responses, I will do the compilation (including mine).

I rest in the middle of the hurricane.

Yang thunders, Yin sucks

I sit,

so centered the storm cannot touch me.

I live from breath to breath

and that is enough

I meditate in the midst of a transition.

Yang pushes, Yin pulls.

I stand,

so positioned the tempest cannot belittle me.

I struggle from moment to moment.

And that is not enough.

Hi thelerner,

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Your prose has provided me with an easy template to gather and organise my own thoughts.

I didn't have to rack my brain for a way out for words to flow in the style I like.

Why? Because I already like yours - light and fluffy.

I like chiffon cakes. Your style is like a recipe for me to bake my own cakes.

Thank you.

Hi Marblehead,

Beyond that - what?

You bet on wishes?

No wonder Mach appears to have disappeared.

Your fault - period.

I am never at fault unless I state that I am at fault.  Mostly it is other people's misunderstandings.

Beyond the fact that I am sure you will find members to talk with.

I do bet on anything.  Not even that I won't change my mind.

Who is Mach?

Hi Marblehead,

But of course you right in wronging me.

My apology in misunderstanding you. But you are beyond my understanding.

Just my luck that I am Taoistically your flipside as you are "never at fault unless I state that I am at fault".

Mach is the originator of this thread. Apparently he is quite at home here thus:

Really regret meeting/knowing you. But of course I am wrong to deem thus as you are always redeemable.

Can I have your permission to piss-off? But of course.

Damn it!

I have never wronged you.  You may have wronged yourself.  Not my problem.

Yes, oftentimes I say something that requires further explanation.  Those come only when asked for.

Yeah, some Taoists have hard heads and ego too.

Okay, mentally linked with who Mach is.  The older one gets the poorer their short term memory becomes.

Well, we can't take it back.  You know me.  I am a part of your life now.  It is a heavy burden.

A proper Anarchist allows others to do whatever they wish as long as it harms no other.  So you may piss-off if you wish.  Be careful where you do it though.  There are consequences.

Have a nice evening.

Hi Marblehead,

BUT OF COURSE.

You have aspirations to be an immortal? We had raised this before.

Then your immorality was an apparent issue.

But here "memory" is another story; so don't be muddle-headed.

You are such a headache - I have just popped a panadol.

Please do touch base with Starjumper. He lives on high moral ground, atop a mountain.

He is apparently an immortal - passing off as a farming dragon.

It is my privilege - take back my previous words, regrettably.

But "heavy burden"? Whose? Yours/mine?

Per this perspective, you are "proper" - to a very big fault.

From your postings, you are doing your job properly.

Keep it up; but don't let this get into your head.

Now I have not such a wish. Why? I am at peace that I am not marble.

Why again? Marble can end up in pieces.

Thank you though for your consequential advice,

I will be careful.

You take care too.

No aspirations for immortality here.  Immorality?  Well, no, actually,  I'm too old for that any more.

Starjumper will be fine without my help.

Your burden.  You keep talking with me so you have to deal with the words I present to you.

Thanks.  There is intent behind nearly all my posts.  Sometimes I go off the wall if someone pushes one of my buttons but even my responses there are with intent.

Yes, be thankful you are not Marble.  But then, all things are impermanent.  Even Marble breaks and falls to pieces.
