Hi Zenmode,

Thank you for sharing.

Besides knowledge and action, can I add willpower?

- LimA

Why are you asking me if you can add willpower bro? I'm curious about the reason you've asked this question. Please directly give an answer.

Hi Zenmode,

Willpower = the unrelenting conscious embrace of the belief/practice that knowledge and action are always in tandem.

I cannot be more direct than this.

Beyond willpower is conscious experiential learning/knowing.

Hi Marblehead again,

When it comes to - 'Somewhere over the rainbow' - some other places have theirs too besides Manchester.

How about Oz?

Have you been to Oz?

I've been there!

I was there before the fire and then, in later years, we would hang out there as minor-league juvenile delinquents.  The Enchanted Forest and the Yellow Brick Road were interesting places during high school...

Hi Brian,

When? Last month? Or once upon a time?

You went there with Marblehead?

Hi Brian,

Apology. Take your time with the edit.

The rainbow is still there waiting for you.

Just finish my biscuits. Time to call it a night.

Good night.

Oh, I had finished it.  I added the bit about when I had been there.  I haven't been back since they sort of reopened it as primarily a nostalgia trip for people who remembered it from the '70s but I might some day just for fun.

Why did you ask me if you can add willpower to what I said?

Do you have practical methods to cultivate willpower?

Hi Zenmode,

The question was not directed at you personally. Anyone could have responded.

Per your post in question, I saw 'knowledge' and 'action' put alongside - so I add in 'willpower'.

I had put all three together before as a mental model in a post. But I cannot recall which thread now.

No I do not have. I just live life the best I can.

Endeavour to do your best and forget the rest.

I still workmanlike help in understanding why ask if you could add willpower. I'm trying to intellectually see your perspective instead of relying on my other methods lol. Working my Brain, lol

Hi Zenmode,

Perhaps Brian (the very naughty boy) can suggest something?

Your Brain + Brian's forthcoming suggestion = Willpower?

Hi Zenmode,

Seriously, I know little and little knowledge is dangerous.

As mentioned before, life is to me largely a question without an answer.

I am not in favour of ready answers.

I like answers to unfold by themselves as I try and live well from moment to moment everyday.

Hi Brian,

A nostalgia trip may make one to stumble and falter over a memorable past?

A memory will still remain the same after a nostalgia trip?

You need not respond.

Got my answers - when Jimmy returned with good memories to find Joni thus:

I really cannot say enough good things regarding Metta meditation. I have found that practice extremely helpful in my own struggles. All the best.

Good Morning nohbody,

Can you please shared a little your Metta meditation experiential struggles.

You have been helped well to post thus..

Nothing like personal triumphs.

To me struggles are a big natural part of life.

They give us meaning to live forward.

Without friction, life is slippery.

Lima,

The first struggle I had was that I was contemptuous of the idea of cultivating Metta or "loving kindness" - I came from a  background that viewed that as a "weak" feeling. I no longer feel that way.

Next the struggle emerged that I did not feel like I  deserved to feel this way. It may sound silly, but it was awful for me until I got over myself.

Hope that helps

Hi nohbody,

Definitely yes. You have already made my weekend. I will listen repeatedly to Glen Campbell.

Thank you for putting it across so simply and meaningfully. You have enhanced kindness with love

Moral of your input - we can help ourselves to get over ourselves. Again thank you.

Hi nohbody,

Our paths first crossed on 12 August 2017 - eight days ago.

During this time span, we communicated without much difficulty.

I have developed a brotherly feel for you trying to understand your struggles.

This thread is started by Sublimation who is now out of the woods with his own struggles.

I too have developed such a feel for him.

Is brotherhood developed in triumphs overcoming struggles?

Lima,

Thank you, I feel warmly toward you,  also.

All this talk of struggle makes me think of The Greater Jihad, spiritualizing the internal struggle.

Hi nohbody,

The internal struggle = the eternal struggle?

Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, s
o new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.

Matthew Arnold, Dover Beach and Other Poems
