Yeah, life is going to go on with or without you.  You might just as well join in the fun.  We actually talk about real life a lot here.

Good point, I should post more.

I knew a city hermit, great guy.  One peculiar but very daoist thing he did was keep the heat and electricity off in his apartment all year.  He got ambient heat from floor and above so it wasn't too bad.  No lights, so when the sun went down it was dark.  He did it that way to be closer to nature.

What was that novel?  It was a required reading for me way back when.

"Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison

You reminded me.

🌲 been there done that, loved it.

Do you by chance recall how he cooked, or heated water, if he did? Raw foods & cool baths were my way - and a small candle burner for tea. 🌹

Hard core, Rene!
I lived for years without electricity, but we had a wood stove and buckets.

So we fetched water and heated it with wood...But that still sounds like a piece of cake compared to living in town without electricity or heat!

then again, in town there's always Starbucks...  :D

Respect.   Don't remember how he cooked,  I met him at an anniversary party for the IMU (Inner Metamorphosis University) which hosted Full Moon Meditations.  I remember him being big on Himalayan salt.  I assume he kept things simple but practical.

Interesting idea, I should give it a try.

Late 80's, major summer storm took power out for 2 weeks, quick adaptation, sucked at first... but after a few days I found simpler, gentler ways of doing things and the peace & quiet was wonderful.

So much so - that when the electricity suddenly flashed back on, the noise of the fridge, all the lights, the TV blaring, the clocks & microwave beeping - it felt like an invasion. I walked over to the breaker box & shut off the main. (-:

Lived without electricity by choice for the next few months, while looking for a place with a woodstove...so I could live this way through winter, also.

Not having power bills are also a plus, lol. Best of luck!

Hi rene,

Also less chance of being electrocuted, unless you like to play in the storm.

Being electrocuted is definitely a minus.

But - minus x minus = plus.

So how were you connected to TDB then?

Hi LimA,

In the late 80s, only spiritually 😇

Now, I just use the Force. And Verizon 🎭

Much energy flows through me - my phone battery stays charged while I'm holding it. ⚡

I also have a magnetic personality.🌠

Hi rene,

Now besides spiritually, what else?

In the late 80s, you were forced to use AT&T?

Wow. Can I hold your hands? What is your frequency?

I see - so you attract iron, even the rusty ones. Very versatile.

My personality only a little bit better. I attract only silver and gold.

In the late 80s, there were only proto-daobums. :D

All frequencies at the same time...and you are already holding my hands! Do you really not know this??

I like that we each have our own ways and thanks for the video! Too bad the man chasing her didn't trust enough, lol, but such always seems to be the case when searching for what isn't lost in the first place!

Time to go stack wood, winter supply almost in. Yay!

Hi rene.

Yes. variety the spice of life. Each life a road less traveled.

He got her in the end - I like to believe. She tried to play 'hard to get'.

For a guy it can be tiring and frustrating. Sometimes chasing after $$$ is easier. Or chasing for the ball as in soccer, rugby ...

How about searching for our souls?

Lucky for me - I don't have to chop wood. It is always summer in Singapore. Boring!

Good night.
