Does anyone else feel that cannabis (marijuana) used in the correct way (emphasis on correct ;) ) it allows you to channel and connect more with your Chi / Qi life force?

Smokeable cannabis is from the female part of the herb and I think in men it rejuvanates Qi which women and children generally have more of, according to what I have read.

Cannabis sativa and Cannabis indica are excellent medicinal herbs when used correctly. Although, correctly is a bit of a broad term and relative to an individual's decision on what way best to proceed.

What I found in my reading is that when humans began cultivating Cannabis, it developed THC and CBD's to fit the receptor sites in the endocannabinoid system in mammals. That to me is fascinating.

When working with this herb, I experience increased sensitivity to and awareness of Qi flow.  Heightened body awareness/sense of bouyancy that is coupled with, or prompted by relaxation, most noticably in the belly and joints (pun not intended, but always welcome).  Intuitive channels become more prominent, as well as intensified awareness of the response to intention.  When you use the term correct use, I hear... work with this power when it is conducive/beneficial to my process, not whenever/wherever.

My wife has a dissonant experience and will only use this herb rarely.  For her, the reaction is one of chaotic energetic bursts, like fireworks, that make settling and relaxing difficult nigh on impossible.  I have heard others here describe a similar reaction.   Yet we have found in her case, it is the underlying anxiety and existing emotional state abiding in her inner space, that are opened up and brought to the fore by this herb, rather than the herb itself causing said response.  This for me has a beneficial upside as I'll explain, but for her, it magnifies her suffering and the brings to light, the things lingering in the fog outside of her mindscape which now are terrifying and severe.  She is currenlty in the third/fourth year of the awakening of long buried memories of severe trauma and abuse in childhood.  So for her, a tin can being dropped on the floor can trigger the same effects.

On that note: I have found with anything that has a psychoactive effect, my mood and mental setting for the few hours prior to use of that herb/medicine/power has more of a determining factor on my experience than the herb/medicine itself.  The herb is going to interact with the colors that are on the pallette at the time they join the painting process, so to speak.  This herb will open the paths near any latent energies that are hovering, if I've been holding a residual issue, it will likely be brought into focus when this herb is in my system, so I am now prepared for these guests and no longer surprised.

This has been particuarly beneficial for me, when working through and bringing up and out, old, hard to reach and reticent emotional packages.  There are times when there is something hovering and buzzing just beyond awareness, when I will reach for the cannabis and then go and sit, or busy myself at something engaging the monkey mind, but trivial... the bouyancy will come and the doors open and whatever was hovering will walk, fly or lumber into focus and I then work with it, offer it tea, grin and wave, bid it be on its way, or.... you get the idea.

On this, and all subjects really, I assume nothing for others.

I used to smoke quite a bit a while ago, but I completely stopped because it just left me with so little motivation. Really what it did is reduce my ability to worry so very little got done - to quite a detrimental effect unfortunately.

After reading these posts I very quickly got on my high horse and thought - you can't really energetically cultivate yourself and smoke cannabis. Then I realised that I get fairly drunk once a week and it definitely helps clear out tension acquired through out the week.

So, each to their own I guess.

After doing Qigong and Vipassana meditation, I notice more how cannabis effects my Qi.

It somewhat dulls my perception of sensation, but it also speeds up my heart rate and makes it harder to focus.  If I don't smoke often, and then smoke, I can get some really cool insights and ideas that I find useful.  My mind speeds up, and the thoughts are often less "grounded."  I like being on Earth usually, but sometimes going to Space can be very nice!  I think having a foundation in Earth is important first, though.

I used to use it all the time.  It was nice, pleasant, but led me to be stagnant.  Now I try to use it just as medicine (it helps with stomach pains, or when I get insomnia), or for occasional spiritual/intellectual insight.  Attachment to cannabis had prevented me from finding real harmony and balance, and now that I am older I have found what moderation works best for me.  Your mileage may vary.

Cannabis has an effect at what you could call the 5th and 6th chakras.  So it depends on where you naturally reside relative to the effect.  For those with lots of mind activity it will help give more space and quiet the mind.  For those at higher levels, it will pull you down into more body level stuff.

I dislike practicing qigong or meditation while on cannabis.  While these are very "in the body" practices and cannabis tends to send me out of my body.  It also makes my energy rise and fire up pretty fast... my thoughts go faster, my heart beats faster, it's harder to relax and therefor harder to do energy practices.

Although I have found visualization, imagination and creativity are increased, I find it very hard to focus while high.

I would think it's really good for things like weight lifting, swimming, yoga, cleaning.  Not for subtle energy stuff (for me at least).

I never smoked pot or used drugs. I also do not drink alcohol or smoke tobacco. Thus, what I am sharing here is not from my personal experience, but "someone told me". I usually prefer to share "that's what I have done/felt/did" vs "or so I heard", but in this case I feel compelled to share. ( your name gave it away)

I assume you are familiar with ganja yoga beyond "let's smoke pot" and are able to appreciate the power behind it?

So, here is a story...

One time I was at sunrise at Esalen farm. It was super early and everybody was asleep. Old man comes to me and starts talking. Blah, blah, blah... He calls himself a ganja yogi and wants to share the knowledge with me. He studied in India with those "soma" people. I am like... dude, there is plenty of space on this bench in this beautiful garden for everybody.

So he draws picture for me, and explains each step. Mantras/mudras/body position. Where you have to face and when... It is a basic cycle of creation ( if you do it at sunrise, that's why he was there that day at the sunrise, his practice). In return I shared my wisdom I learned from my herbology workshop which plants he could take from the garden to make himself "happy"... So it was a fair trade...

So, since I am feeling generous, I am sharing this knowledge with you. Everything on that picture is encoded. Use at your own risk. Start at the sunrise and follow the creation cycle ( destruction cycle at sunset)... Who knows... maybe Shiva himself will join you....

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0H3J1I1Jz5-SHpzamNVd2ozRnZHTkFLWm10eFZCdm9Zc2Rr/view

p.s. I have not done it myself ( as you need to smoke at each step), so I dunno the results...However, what I see is very close familiarity with bagua ( walking the circle for a purpose)...

Whooosh ... kapow!  Who knows what is in a cookie  ... lucky dip .  Had a half one one night ....wow !

Out at night, in town, there is a band at the local hall, town is pumping people partying in the streets, cookies going around, so I had a half.  I go inside and band it for a while,  great time !

When i come back out people are draped over cars, bushes lying on the footpath.

"ooohhhh  ... arrrrrr  .... ooooooo   .."      what happened to you  ?   "I had 2 ! "  ..... "I had  3 !  "

Apparently girl that made them used primo head parts instead of the spare leaf - she thought that was what you supposed to do .

Another time I was doing tarot at markets, someone paid me for a reading with a cuppa and cake ... didnt tell me what sort if cake it was !

Half hour later, mid reading, the table starts turning convex and curving up around me with tarot cards all around my head .....  thats enough readings for today !

Anywayz , yesterday i posted in off topic about mould in medical  marijuana ... erk !

I've decided to be a lot more moderate about it, not only does smoking too often reduce your natural balance of cannabinoids in the brain but you aren't as sensitive to it and the insight gets duller the more you smoke. In my experience at least. I cannot smoke every day or I get nothing done.

I also had a really bad experience on pot that made me think about being more careful, it was very trippy, not sure it was just pot, maybe very potent or laced weed, but it magnified a lot of bad energy in my life at the present point in life, I felt a lot of bad karma and bad relationships with people swirling around in my brain. This was about a year ago when I was still knee-deep in other bad life choices, like watching porn and disregarding kindness and friendliness to other people

That's happened to me as I got older.

When you don't use as much, the effects can get very strong. And using while your alone or quiet, will get very introspective. It can get uncomfortable.

I found that as I get more sensitive and more relaxed, things that I once found "tame" like marijuana or caffeine have an extremely strong effect, almost uncomfortable.

Maybe I'm just boring these days. Who knows. Lol

Cannabis destroys your mingmen so it's not helping you in anything. Sometimes it can be used as cure in different form. but if you are smoking cannabis you are not practicing good as there are much higher state even in basic meditation which makes you feel 100x better then cannabis.  You just do not cultivate right if you do not feel blissful at least once a day.

I don't know how you came to that conclusion. Cannabis has been used in Chinese shamanry for over 10,000 years. Yes, it can mobilize jing and qi at the mingmen and send it up the spine but if one is properly trained there is no issue. One must stay hydrated and I always recommend maca for those who find their sex drive severely diminished by cannabis.

yeah. if you interested in wasting your precious lifetime into cannabis smoking and shamanry that's fine but if you interested in genuine realization then cannabis is inferior. Mingmen of genuine cultivator is different then in regular person that why he or she will never smoke cannabis, take drugs or drink alcohol (beside alchemical wines)

Well this seems certain, there sure is no, and likely will never be a shortage of opinions, surety and dogma over what is a helpful herb and what is harmful... and what is and what is not a drug is the more interesting question to me.

I have noticed there is considerable variance in what folks consider to be a 'drug'.  And one thing I think folks miss out on, is how many drug like influences they have in their lives that have nothing to do with what they put in their mouths, or what they smoke or drink... It's what they allow themselves to think and what they subconsciously habitually do, that cause just as much hormonal reward as any of the 'drugs' that are so easily pigeon holed as the source of societies woes...

And then even among what are openly classifed as the drugs... there are those that are good for us and those deemed bad... I'd be interested to get the firm numbers of people who die, or suffer long lasting injury from prescription meds vs street drugs.  I recall looking into this some two decades ago while taking a class on street drugs prior to trying some of them out.  My findings then caused me to stop just taking any pill my Dr. offered me without looking into it myself.  But then, I was in that class for the same reason... always curious to learn what others knew about entheogenic and street drug's I was interested in trying... always needed to look into it and read up on it and make up my own mind.

That process resulted in me having a personal definition of a drug.  To me a drug is anything that causes an 'affect of my experience of perception or life',

A drug to me is anything that can affect my awareness... plant essences and secretions, animal products, pills and injectibles from the dr, activities (sex, eating, exercise, meditation, qi gong...) image media, books/ideas, conversations, thoughts, emotions... all of these have a drug like affect on me and then become an avenue where I may seek them in a manner that is deemed 'out of balance'.  and can inculcate addictive behavior....

I then saw that for me, all phenomena, in any form was like a drug and thus held the potential for me to relate to it in addictive manner to very interesting and beneficial results.  When I realized for instance, the daily, bodily manifestation and influence of broadcast television and radio on the state of my mind and body... I got rid of it the next day.

Television for me, was far more harmful to my experience of life than anything I've ever smoked or ingested or done naked in a bedroom, (or 30 feet up a tree for that matter)...

Most of what I've encountered in the notion of drugs and which ones are accepted and which ostracized stems from nothing more than the old school we all attended in one form or other... the school of 'that's how it's always been' in our culture, so that's what's normal...

The cutlural social indoctrination we all receive and that creates our foggy yet oh so firm, subconscious notions of normal.  It sets right alongside our culturally created notions of correct sexual orientations and what pursuits and activities normal folks are supposed to engage in.  It covers such broad and undetailed topics about you know... how folks 'should' behave when they are 'normal' and 'decent'.  All perfectly normal and unavoidable... the cultural waters we all saturate in from birth, before the age of critical thinking.  you know... normal.

But back to herbs proper... even among herbalists, there is so much flexibility and opinions and debate... some seem helpful in small amounts and harmful in large doses... others are helpful when steamed and fatal when raw... some are good when we are young and others are only beneficial as we age.

Drugs are everywhere... coffee, sugar, sports and internet seem like the big four in terms of most accepted, politically supported and prevalent in my culture, but that's just my little corner.

Far more potent than any street drug, pill or grocery store item I've ever tried is a tie between pranayama breathing... and lucid dreaming.

In my experience, anything that causes a reaction, a response in awareness, that we then can duplicate and come to rely upon is a drug capable of having an addictive relationship with...

Pranayama breathing and lucid dreaming are far more addictive to me than any drug I've ever used.

Posting comments on an internet forum can be another example of a potent drug desired emotional payoff for an action in my world.

Fluid questions... concrete answers... fluid answers... life stuff.

oh look... it's time to go breathe  i wonder if there will be any smoke in that breath, or if the fog within is really without?

maybe the hermetics know... where are they now I wonder?

Here's my take on it. Most things are not bad nor good unless they're of absolute immorality, i think cannabis is one of them, like sex, alcohol, food, whatever. Moreover it depends on where you are in life and why you are using it.

I've had experiences with cannabis in the past where there was a lot of bad energy in my life and it seemed to amplify it even more and get me caught in a bad rut, i.e. laziness, self indulgence, negativity, and anger. Now that I'm with someone and headed in a better direction spiritually and with life on the whole, I use it not only more sparingly but I feel the vibes are better. In day to day life it seems to unlock creativity and emotions that are hidden, positive ones if I am meditating properly, and in my relationship / in the bedroom it helps to be more calm and gentle and sensual, and to approach my partner without expectation or agitation no matter what the circumstance is. Since I've grown more accustomed to this it comes out of habit now too and I don't need to smoke regularly.

Therefore, I think it's in how / why you use it. Just my two cents

My sense is that it ignites one's fire. When this fire is lit, it feels good to some, not so good to others, all based on how one's "fuel" is situated when the fire is lit. I'd guess what is burned is what is available, but this also works in the precelestial side of things, which is why it effects the mingmen.

At first, you might have a lot of shen available for burning, and may get an experience full of insights and very psychic seeming. But if this shen is not cultivated and replenished, then next time one smokes, it will work on burning up denser energies. At first one may not be hungry at all, may not even be able to fathom eating, may not even be able to speak or communicate, because one is overwhelmed with the effects of massively igniting the shen and/or the purest available forms of qi one has. But as these types of qi are not available, we may begin to start burning up our other types of qi, like food qi wei qi, etc.... this isn't an exact depiction, but a general idea of what may be happening. This can explain why people will get munchies and can eat like bottomless pits, because as soon as sources of qi enter the body in the form of food, they are combusted and used as fuel.

Each of our organs have their own particular manifestation of shen, and collectively will have established certain patterns of balance and imbalance. Very similar to how we all have different levels of emotional stability, confidence, fear, empathy, insecurity, happiness, righteousness, and so on. When these pre-existing shaping of energies ignite, they will directly impact the flavor of one's "high." This is why some people get anxiety attacks, while others have the confidence to work or study. It is related to the ignition of the patterns of energy we are already holding.

But as the resources available for burning dwindle, we are left with burning coarser and coarser types of qi. The food qi we intake and burn up will carry patterns related to what we're eating. If it is snack food full of processed toxins and refined sugars, this will begin to influence the flavor our our "high," as will the types of energies of people in our surroundings. What we are burning may not necessarily be "ours" so much any more. This can lead to the inability of our small-intestine to manage its energetic responsibility to regulate the purity of the fire. The small intestine's role in managing the purity of the fire is to help the heart fire be protected and reach a greater sense of peace rather than oscillating between extremes of bliss and not-bliss.

So when the more pure types of qi available are burned up and we are relying on coarser types of qi as fuel to keep the fire blazing strong, our ability to keep this fire pure becomes lacking, and poison fire is allowed to enter the heart. This leads to deviant practices, perversion, selfishness, insensitivity, erratic behavior, and so on. This should be somewhat evident to any who have not just attempted to smoke a little every day, but who have explored trying to get stoned every day or multiple times a day, for months at a time, beyond the days of their youth.

In youth, there are many great reserves of energy available, so it may not seem evident that one is burning away one's stores of longevity.

However, that is not to say that this cannot be used to great healing effect. One issue is that a foreign substance is in charge of regulating the fire. We don't have an easy time of putting it out until the substance(s) triggering it have been metabolized. So the more we intake, the more we become locked into the ride - it is not uncommon for someone to get tired of maintaining the mental alertness necessary to stay conscious or focused, and to fall asleep. This is why many also have trouble doing activities that require precise mental focus, like math. These things require clear thinking, and it is difficult to think clearly when there is a spiritual fire raging inside. However, we must also remember that spirit likes stillness and emptiness. The more calm and pure we can make our fire, through stilling our body and emptying the noise of our minds, the more easy it will be to maintain a sense of calm alertness, where we may also begin to navigate working with this energy rather than burning it away.

Because the fire tends to be shaped based upon how we have prepared the fuel, we can prepare the fuel in advance by cleansing ourselves, eating clean foods, meditating, doing qigong, and the fire will be more pure when it ignites, and we may even be able to integrate it within the body and do work with it - it all depends on how much our mind gets in the way. We must remember that the average person's thinking mind is like a big clumsy oaf when it comes to the navigation of spiritual energy. This is again why many people have very different experiences.

I would say that yes, this substance might be very useful to help one feel energies, especially the more spiritual and mysterious energies. And yet it only takes a tiny amount. If one takes this into meditation and stillness, one may find that just a little is in fact more than enough, as once the fire is going, when one nurtures it with care it will grow, yet also be more easily guided. Further, I would advise that this is the type of thing one needs to accomplish on one's own, through diligent practice where one cultivates, purifies, refines one's qi until it naturally ignites.

Just like starting a real fire. If we do not use artificial tools, this can be very difficult. Flint and steel is one method, where if one has a material that is incredibly dry and able to smoulder from getting a spark to land upon it, and then this materiel is placed upon some very dry wood fiber or paper, with careful coaxing the smouldering can spread to actually igniting into a tiny flame, which can then be carefully coaxed into igniting a small twig, which burns long enough to ignite a small stick, and so on.

Yet we still start here with a spark. Following other principles, we can achieve ignition by using heat and purity. With bow drilling, we spin a pointy stick against a flat stick - the friction between them produces little fibers, that build up into a pile in the notch cut out of the flat stick. As this pile grows, it becomes hotter and hotter - when the heat reaches the right temperature and there is enough of the pure small fibers built up, the top of this little pile will ignite and turn into an ember, which may then be very carefully taken to nurture some small sticks or wood chips as above. Yet it is very difficult to create the circumstances where the pile gets big and hot enough to ignite - often one gets tired and needs a break, which causes the heat to dissipate - it requires continues work, continuous focus. Yet this work and focus must be relaxed and refined and properly managed - if it is too stiff and rigid, too forcefully controlled, bad things can happen as well. These are all parallels to energy work. The difficulty and care that must be taken in cultivating one's fire is entirely missed when one ignites it using external means.

We should remember here the principle of the fire trigram from the bagua. One yin line inside of two yang lines. This yin line represents the true yin, true emptiness, while the yang lines represent how this fuel of emptiness becomes burned away by the expression of consciousness through the thinking mind. When something reaches ignition and begins to burn (naturally or artificially), we should turn around so that it cannot simply burn, emptying ourselves and perhaps plasmifying this fire so that it turns to spiritual light instead. Continuing to look within using emptiness and stillness, completely surrendered, we hold the space for this light to stabilize and become clear - to become absolute clarity. This is one way of utilizing this medicine for spiritual progress rather than spiritual abuse. As with all things, proper balance is required and extremes should be avoided. Anything that takes us away from where we naturally reside is a type of extreme - the goal is to be able to naturally and effortlessly be able to reach these places permanently, without dependency on external devices.

These are just my own personal experiences. Personally I do not think this ally is good for what I need right now and I find stability in working with the fire I create on my own, as I am more easily able to respect how difficult it is to cultivate, and am able to work with it better without going to extremes.

Please realize, this fire connects the manifest with the mysterious. It has the potential to either lead from one extreme of manifestation back into the mysterious, but this is a difficult path, requiring stillness, openness, and ego-less-ness. This is why some have said that getting "high" like this mimics something that happens naturally at advanced levels of neigong. For many it seems nice for it to cause relaxation and to burn away things that were causing trouble, but if the fire is not contained through emptiness, it is consuming important energies that are difficult to replenish.

These are my opinions that have arrived through observation and study. I am sure they have much room for refinement, as likely seen by any with more experience in understanding classical chinese medicinal theory than myself. But I hope these understandings may be of use and help to some here. Blessings.

One may as well ask ;   are chemicals good for you ?

Many times I think most people are not aware of the huge number of psycho active compounds in marijuana - and depending on  how much of what and in what combinations,   and the persons make up, the effects vary .

From virtual 'knock out drops'  that give you a solid undisturbed sleep through pain - to 'trippy' stuff that makes the light golden and inspires creativity and wonder,  stuff that can stimulate the sex drive - or not ,  some types even help accomplish work , especially a long and potentially boring job ,  etc .
