Energy Feeling and Pain Around the Heart.

Recommended Posts

hey,

I practice vipassana, even though lately not having time to practice it....

anyways my case is, when i m really feeling and focusing on body, a really painful sensation arises around heart, more like a circle or lines around it (around the middle of my chest where the heart is located).

Also, when i investigate other parts of the body (with focus), there is a string of pain (dunno if it is a meridian) coming from my middle finger and moves up my arm to chest and to that circle of pain. usually that string of pain comes like waves of pulsation going into the heart.

this pain arises most when its been a time, I didn't masturbate and when i m focused on my body. when i masturbate, the after it goes and decrease and thus i won't feel it anymore up till a period of time.

feeling that feeling of pain and trying to deal with it, with watching/observing allowing it to be... didn't work much. Also, the more i focus that pain is very tough and strong... and thoughts of "it seems i won't last much on this earth...etc", it is not like i fear death, i don't mind it but yeah.

I do have some kind of throat pain (when to doctor and said there is nothing) that arises from time to time when i focus on my body but that is maybe a different story but currently this is stronger

any ideas? any help is appreciated.

Thanks :)

Hi shad282,

The pain is often associated with a heart opening. Sounds like good things are happening.

The fear is natural. I always thought of those thoughts as the ego not wanting to let go. Trying to hold me back almost like a game.

So relax know good things are happening and when those fears arise just let them go and know what is arising is what is meant to be.

That's what I do anyways. :)

Good luck.

I don't feel it is heart opening, because things are not going in a positive way and going through changes in my life or something. also, it is been a time having this, so if an opening is happening it should have opened :P

more like i m being stressed and such.

The process of heart opening is most often not pleasant... in the extreme.

It's why so many folks often reel backward from the process of healing and from the presence of a potent sage when untruths are stripped away... it's simply too painful to process at the moment and we fall back on our familiar pain, instead of the short term but more extreme experience of the healing process.

Don't judge, don't worry.  You are where you are and there is nothing wrong with you or the universe.

Let you be you.  Sit with what you can and let go of what you can't and don't worry about shit mate.

You are supported by the entire universe.

A technique I picked up from another practitoner which has become of deep value to my practice is the Sedona method. Many cultivators are familiar with this method and there are many ways of using it. But in particular I've found it very useful to shake loose blockages in my internal framework that relate to ones sexuality.....which in the context of this thread, is quite important. I've found the following technique quite useful:

"Feeling into the body and ask the body where the blockages and there root systems are that relate to "Sexual energy"? Then ask the body if it's willing to heal them. Then release yourself from them with Sedona."

It's quite a powerful and effective method. Pace yourself, as it can be quite a detox and your body may not be ready to go through a whole root at once (bit size it if neccesary). You may get tired depending on how much internal work you've done. Also it's useful to do this detoxing outside vs indoors as I've found it goes much smoother when your connected to a larger circuit. Naturally this technique is not limited to sex, you can surf around your entire system and dissolve through many roots of blockages.

Hope this is useful. Many blessings and many thanks to the practtioners whom have made these methods available. :)

One thing i'm coming to understand at a deeper level is that when you practice building up energies in your system, that influx of energy...in this case sexual energy....is going to rush through you like a coursing river and revitalize you....but it will also highlight and expose the many imbalances in your system.

This can cause anger, frustration, impatience and many other symptoms and they may be happening for no particular reason you can prescribe to external events.....you just feel unhinged and don't know why. This is one of the reasons i think psychologically unstable people can go crazy if there exposed to fiery practices.

Anybody practicing experiences these things....but when your conserving sexual energy, IME it can force you to acknowledge the shit bags your carrying in your body quite rapidly. The technique quoted above can be useful in this regard. Cheers. :)

Another nugget of gnosis i just picked up is that sexual energy has a tendency to want to move upward and out of the crown and then like a sprinkler shower back over the body and recirculate once more. If your not pushing sexual energy out of your body through ejaculation then it's naturally gonna attempt to take this internal course of moving upward.

The only problem is that this internal upward pathway is riddled with blockages and the energy gets stuck and can't leap up and across the crown in order to complete the circuit. Naturally this is a problem and it can result in all kinds of frustration and anxiety as energy is ramming up against blockages.

The good news is that you can use the dissolving tricks (sedona) mentioned before so you can bust through all the blockages you need to in order to connect this pathway. It's quite wonderful and "freeing" once you get there. B)

Will continue to share as i learn. Cheers, hope this is helpful and happy trails.  :)

Dissolve through those blockages. Cheers.

thank you for your information, i guess you are right, but how to cope up with all of this arising and blockages healing? i always end up in pain and want to avoid it :/

Also, is sedona a practice other than those questions? or something else?

It's a challenge for sure, you need to continually clear out blockages via releasing them in order to pave the way for the rise of sexual energy, its either that or just stop practicing. Take a couple months, everyday clearing obstacles to the smooth flow of sexual energy. It's tough work, but it will help smooth out the flow and your symptoms will lessen. Nobody ever said the path was easy.

the things is like now... it is been 2 days without "release" and my body feels charged up and like not at ease and my heart is started to feel over energized and sometimes beats fast. some thoughts of porn appears when seeing some stuff that are sexually arousing (not intentionally seeking them, they are all over the social media) and i can't really isolate myself like a monk.

it is more about how to deal with that energy because i m used to masturbation and i don't know how to deal with it.

I just told you how to deal with it. Stop thinking. Do. "Just do it." Nike

Shad, best thing to do to kill a habit energy is to mindfully reform that habit energy into a new habit.  A constructive one.  Instead of letting the habit of "if X then Y" play out, if X then Z instead.

Get yer stillness and meditation in.  Get exercise.  Sweat.

Shad,

While I agree with Old Wolf that you should just let it go and flow, that can be somewhat overwhelming in the early stages. If you find you need a break or a little more space, just let me know and I can probably help you take the edge off.

Best,

Jeff

If your pain is kind of acute one, most likely this is inflammation of tendons and/or other connective tissue that goes through neck and down to chest. If this is a case, an experienced acupuncturist will be able to show you how to massage related tendons to relieve the pain.

If your pain is kind of pressure and not acute, better go to medical doctor ASAP.

did you look at a meridian chart and see if there's any specific meridian which you are feeling the pain in?

From your description seems like the Pericardium meridian to me -- http://lieske.com/channels/5e-pericardium.htm

I'd go see a Chinese Medicine practitioner. It sounds like the Pericardium channel is involved, to me, and it's good to always keep the Heart and Pericardium functioning well.

If you're interested in qigong, it's good to do exercises that move the arms and chest around in all sorts of different ways.

Just to be safe, I'd say start with a doctor. Unless there's some other pre-existing condition in play then I think the chance that it's an actual physical heart problem is fairly small, but it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to the heart. And just ruling out the possibility that it's a sign of some kind of impending cardiac doom should help you relax a bit.

After that, I'd say a good TCM/ayurvedic practitioner would be the next stop.

I'd also recommend finding a decent teacher of whatever energetic/yogic/meditative system you feel would be the best fit for you - someone who can guide you through what you're feeling, directly perceive what's going on in your body and use their own energy to work on you. If this doubles as aforementioned TCM/ayuverdic practitioner, all the better, but unfortunately the two don't overlap as often as they should.

Generally speaking, You might have an easier time with standing/moving form of meditation - my experience is that compared to basic vipassana/quiet sitting type meditation, a gentle qigong/yoga style practice is a lot better when those kinds of underlying blockages are causing problems. It's easier to focus on the practice instead of on the symptoms, and they're generally designed specifically to get energy flowing in a healthy manner for the purpose of clearing these kind of things out.

I'm not an expert, but it does sound like you might have some anxiety going on. Chest discomfort, rapid heartbeat, sore/tight throat and worries about death and dying are all classic anxiety symptoms - it's possible you have some underlying anxiety which is coming to surface when you still your mind during meditation. If you think this is the case, then working with a therapist is probably not a bad idea - a good therapist can help you process your emotions intellectually, and understand their source, as they start to arise and clear out during any kind of meditative/energetic practice. Shop around, find someone who genuinely cares and doesn't want to just park you on pills, and it can do you wonders.

I've been working through some fairly similar issues (uncomfortable sensations and emotions arising during meditation), and apart from what has already been mentioned, there are two resources I'd highly recommend.

The first is Tara Brach's book Radical Acceptance - which I know sounds incredibly cheesy, but combined with her R.A.I.N. method for mindfulness (which I found in Dan Harris's 10% Happier, but I imagine is also available online for free) is probably the best single set of tools I've found for exploring, understanding, coming to terms with and eventually clearing emotional blockages. It's really in a class of it's own.

The second is the chapter on Sung Breathing in Damo Mitchell's book Daoist Nei Gong. This chapter alone is worth the price of entry, and the method is not only excellent at doing what it's intended for (helping release emotional/energetic/physical tension) but has enhanced every other meditation practice I've tried since in a profound way. It completely changed my approach to both emotional blockages and to breathwork in meditation. There's a video here which discusses the process a bit:

Good luck :)

You need to stop doing the bolded. You are frying your heart and i hope it sounds as dangerous as it is. There is no other way to help this self-inflicted condition.

If you're going to make such a bold claim (sorry, couldn't help myself :P ), I think you should probably go into a little more detail and back it up.

Actually it is been days without mastubating and such related releasers ... and a lot of thoughts of sadness and depression coming into my head. and made me discover that a lot of my sexual and love desires are related to past lacks and problems that is been into my life.... every attraction is caused by something from the past.

for a second i thought, what i heal all those, will i have any sexual attraction or even maybe need for love?
