I was sitting in padmasana a few nights ago. Recently I had been doing a lot of Spring Forest Qigong and I have noticed that I can really feel energy moving along various points along the orbit: not actually orbiting, but when I just observe I can feel energy near the abdomen, solar plexus, heart, throat, back of neck, etc. not in any particular order. Anyways, so a few years back I was only getting sensations in the crown, brow area, and throat. But since I have seriously committed to Qigong I have had numerous sensations in areas of the body along the two channels that I had never felt before, which means the Qigong must be working to open up these channels? So back to padmasana: I was sitting there just observing and after about twenty minutes suddenly I felt this incredible energy collecting near my heart (like in the center of the ribcage), as I focused on it the energy was really building up. (I begin to really feel the energy after the twenty minute mark in full lotus.) So I had to break away from the heart energy because that whole area was getting numb and tingly. Normally, I have had experiences like this at the brow and crown areas, but this heart energy was really interesting. Would that have been dangerous to allow it to accumulate there, or no? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the energy is accumulating in an area on its own then i wouldn't worry about it...likely dissolving through blockages. The Chi knows.Though if your forcefully gathering and concentrating energy at a certain point, that may potentially cause imbalance.

If happends on its own then no problem - thats what a teacher would probably tell you. Don't need to focus on it. I'd say that focussing on it can give a fake impression that you can manipulate these things at your will.

Other thing - we experience only as much as we can handle. Thats what I heard from my teacher. Therefore overwhelming experiences are not to run from or trying to break them. Yet fear can come and thinking that one need to do sth about it. Gifts are to enjoy....

Do you have any teacher that showed you quigong?

One thing I do with heart energy is move it through out my body, from the neck to the shoulders, down each arm to my finger tips. Then I move it through the torso to every organ an finally down my legs to my toes... It is more difficult to get it into the head for me. (It has been said to have healing properties)

I have never experienced a numbness in the heart chakra so I'm not sure what that is about, but just below the heart bliss at the solar plexus is the inner fire.

Congratulations on your progress.

No. Other than Spring Forest Qigong from DVD i have no practical qigong experience. I want to change that obviously. I'm considering some of their seminars. Milwaukee area has no great Qigong offerings. If anyone knows of a good one in Chicago I'd consider it.

It took me awhile to get too my first seminar. In the mean just time train your ass off. SFQ is a very safe system in my understanding.

I'm not a specialist in it but I just feel that this sort of experiences would be supercharged in presence of a realised master. Weather qui gong one or other, out of any system.

With those great experiences from SFQ I would consider having a long distance session from Chunyi Lin to really move things along. If a simple method like SFQ can produce those kinds of experiences why bother seeking a seminar to learn a different qigong method? From my trying many different qigong methods over the years I have come to the conclusion that good experiences with sensing the qi flow come more from who is doing the qigong than which qigong method the person is doing. It all depends on the condition of your nervous system. I taught Spring Forest Qigong at work 4 days a week for 8 years and I had some nice sensations of Qi but nothing at the level that you have had.

Thankyou. In referencing seminars I was referring specifically to further SFQ levels beyond 1, not other qigong systems altogether. I would like to meet Lin personally at one of the level 4 or 5 retreats. I was also particularly interested in their "third eye" opening. And just to clarify, I am not inferring that SFQ is what is directly causing these chi sensations, but practicing SFQ daily is clearly opening up the channels/meridians in ways I was never previously able to, and therefore during my nightly full lotus sittings the sensations are really intensified.

I would also like to update my initial post and state that having been several weeks practicing SFQ I have begun over this last week to have my first energetic sensations in the LDT. I have never experienced this before. It is like a warm buzzing feeling near the navel. Since the standing meditations have the practitioner focus on the LDT at times during the exercises I'm beginning to wonder if this is allowing aiding me in sensing my LDT. It is really interesting. Now I can bring my awareness there and soon i begin to feel it, which is something that months ago I could not to.

I used to do a lot of a full lotus LDT training eventually after some years it wouldn't stay down and worked its way to heart or middle dantien. It felt weird and uncomfortable staying in the middle. To this day if I try again it will gather eventually in middle up conception. And to this day I have no idea why, if it is safe or not. Some rumours say the dantians are filled with yang "sequentially" from bottom up.I have no idea I would appreciate to know about my advice be careful on dwelling energy at heart.
