It is a good text. There is debate though as to what "turning the light around" really means. Some say it is an esoteric energetic method of moving body energies in a reversal direction, others say it is about turning the light of awareness round on itself or to the source of awareness. I personally think it's more about turning around awareness which isn't as complicated or obscure as some of the translations make out

Wells, I knew about this site from before and I suggest EVERYONE read it thoroughly, very good post!

Once you are finished, scroll all the way down and you'll find links to other sites by the same author (Walther Sell):

The Fourth Way and Esoteric Traditions⎟ The taoist I Ching ⎟ Being Presence First⎟ Living Presence

Journey to the West ⎟ Japanese symbols of Presence⎟ Gurdjieff - Becoming Conscious

The Secret of the Golden Flower, the Taoist I Ching and the Journey to the West are my favorite.

If you have heard of Swami Rudrananda (Rudi) of the Nithyananda lineage, The Secret of the Golden Flower was his favorite book.

Walther Sell also has a nice blog: https://plus.google.com/109884952185867905900/posts

When it comes to the Journey to the West, this is a MUST read, the website above makes it easy.

There's a fully translated with captions version of Journey to the West series on YouTube. WATCH IT!!!

It's 66 episodes but very useful to learn about the Tao:

Going on a tangent, last night for the first time I went to this site http://ichingonline.net/

It is very neat and you can get your I-ching reading for free in minutes. Read the About I Ching and the Tips on using it beforehand. It's way more than you think!

Earlier this year I did some editing and collecting from that site, trying to clarify and condense what I thought were the main ideas.  I wish I'd been able to shrink it even more.  Here is a link- http://thedaobums.com/topic/37570-golden-flower-thingamabobs/?p=607715

A few posts down from that one are similar notes I made from an Osha book on the Golden Flower.  As explained, I don't mean to push or praise Osha, he is problematic to say the least.  Yet, I feel there are some good insights into the text.  http://thedaobums.com/topic/37570-golden-flower-thingamabobs/?p=608871

I wish I could condense it even more, strip out the poetry and cultural bias's til all that remains was simple procedural instructions.  In truth I've never given it the time it deserves, yet there are ideas and pieces from it that inform some of my meditation practices.

I wonder.. if it had to be reduced to its simplest, action oriented form; simple step by step instructions, what would the Golden Flower look like?
