who practices more than 6 hours a day?

Really serious means one drops all necessitations of practice.

Quantitative scoring of practice time tends to indicate a novicey status.

But here's the paradox:

When one has fully captured the essence of practice thru many hours of cultivation,

then one stabilises freedom to really practice with ease and comfort. At that

point, practice and no practice cannot be differentiated - they are in fact inseparable.

Yet, its quite easy to be misled by false convictions. Thinking that since the highest

practice is a sort of non-action, non-doing, relaxed, expansive mode, then it feels good

to think there is no need to do anything. The assumption arises that they have finally

captured the supreme way of irreversible emancipation. Good luck to them. Because

there is no such thing as the supreme way of irreversible emancipation, the need for

practice becomes essential.

If such a way really exists, everyone will have already got it. Just like, if one is hungry,

one eats. If thirsty, one drinks. Spontaneously, without a moment's hesitation.

Why not the same for this thirst and hunger for complete liberation?

What's the difference?

Yet, there remains immense yearning for the supreme way. As a result, people contemplate

this and that, try all sorts of new things, indulge in various esoteric arts, thinking that freedom

lies there in those trivial pursuits.

Thats why i said such a way does not really exist. Because it does not exist, people need

to practice. Thru this, the essence of the Way-less is found, and the true way reveals itself,

marking an end to practice.

Until then, it is all hard work. Unless of course something suddenly clicks, and it all falls into place...

There you said it. That's the beautiful truth. Thanks for sharing that.

That many hours is technically possible...but realistically, 2-3 hours a day while living in society is even a lot.

Practice never ends or begins. But practice means different things to different people. If you're talking about qigong or meditation or some other method, the power of such methods lies in their influence towards greater balance. Thus magnitude of practice depends on what stage one is at and what one is trying to balance. And doing typically needs to be balanced with resting.

Yes .... I practice constantly. My current practice is to allow the Gods free range of experiencing incarnation through my body, awareness and consciousness.

I hope they are enjoying the feeling of the top of my femur digging into my uncushioned hip socket at the moment . :)

It is a mistake to think that it is just a matter of balance - it is far more than that - in fact balance is often not so much the equation as is the fermenting and those results. At times one can be quite lopsided in a good sort of way.

And practice is not just living - it is participating in some semblance of spiritual work however well guided or misguided that work is.

It is easy to say "all of life is practice" and it is easy to say "life is like a waterfall" - but a dancer doesn't improve much from reading about it or being mindful. Thier is a very real value to being present in ones action - but when you meditate for 3 or 4 hours it is abundantly clear to at the very least your body - that your space is in a different vibration and that you have cleared out cobwebs and topped up your fuel tank with some very fine Elixir.

At a certain point great strides become unbearable Not to undertake and on the flip side at certain times closing ones eyes is simply required because the changes are beyond words.

6 hours a day? does time on ttb count? ^_^

"harmony" over "balance".

is one of those easier to attain than the other?

Nope. But with harmony at least you don't fall over when you loose your balance.
