Culture Revolutions and Dark Ages

Sparked by the thread "Western Medicine" (ignorance of subtle energies)

What is Western?

The Western world, also known as the West and the Occident (from Latin: occidens "sunset, West"; as contrasted with the Orient, Greek: Δυτικός Κόσμος), is a term referring to different nations depending on the context. There are many accepted definitions about what all they have in common.[1

The concept of the Western part of the earth has its roots in Greco-Roman civilization in Europe, and the advent of Christianity.[2][3][4][5][6] In the modern era, Western culture has been heavily influenced by the traditions of the Renaissance, Protestant Reformation, Age of Enlightenment—and shaped by the expansive colonialism of the 15th-20th centuries. Before the Cold War era, the traditional Western viewpoint identified Western Civilization with the Western Christian (Catholic-Protestant) countries and culture.[7] Its political usage was temporarily changed by the antagonism during the Cold War in the mid-to-late 20th Century (1947–1991).

The term originally had a literal geographic meaning. It contrasted Europe with the linked cultures and civilizations of the Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia and remote Far East, which early-modern Europeans saw as the East. Today, this has little geographic relevance, since the concept of the West expanded to include the former European colonies in the Americas, Russian Northern Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

In the contemporary cultural meaning, the phrase "Western world" includes Europe, as well as many countries of European colonial origin with substantial European ancestral populations in the Americas and Oceania.[8]

"Advent of Christianity" = Western, Western = Christianity

Christianity originated in Roman occupied Jerusalem, a predominantly but not entirely Jewish society, with traditional philosophies distinct from the Classical Greek thought which was dominant in the greater Roman Empire at the time.

Jerusalem (/əˈrsələm/; Hebrew: יְרוּשָׁלַיִם 11px-Loudspeaker.svg.png Yerushaláyim; Arabic: القُدس‎ 11px-Loudspeaker.svg.png al-Quds), located on a plateau in the Judean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea, is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religionsJudaism, Christianity and Islam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem

Western is typically associated with Europe/ Europeans (as above)

Western thought however has it's origins in the Middle East

Traditional European thought/ folklore/ mythos is different from that of the Middle East.

Consider the myriad supernatural creatures... faeries for one... subtle realms...

The mythologies are some proof Europeans in the distant past had an understanding of subtle realms / energies... also wizards, witches etc

Pagans having advanced astrological knowledge and so on

Christianity was one of these "Cultural Revolutions"

Mountains of knowledge destroyed, keepers of the ancient ways killed / witch hunts

I was reading an interview in the Taoist Discussion section in how only fragments of traditional Chinese martial arts/ energy practices can now be found... after the Chinese "Cultural Revolution"

The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, commonly known as the Cultural Revolution, was a social-political movement that took place in the People's Republic of China from 1966 until 1976. Set into motion by Mao Zedong, then Chairman of the Communist Party of China, its stated goal was to preserve 'true' Communist ideology in the country by purging remnants of capitalist, and traditional elements from Chinese society, and to re-impose Maoist thought as the dominant ideology within the Party. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_Revolution

It is estimated 40 - 70 million... people were killed during this revolution...

1966 - 1976 ... 38 years ago...

Imagine a "Cultural Revolution" 2000 years in duration... and what would be left of such a people and their ancient knowledge...

Imagine if this... revolution didn't occur... imagine the year 2014 as the year 4014...

We are still trying to recover from this diabolical revolution...

Some Chinese are also attempting to piece together what was destroyed in "their" revolution...

To revolve... is going around in circles... dark ages... no advancement...

I would say there is an (ongoing) attempt being made by certain groups to destroy knowledge of subtle realms + energies, to enslave the world population by keeping people from their innate powers... making them "of the devil" or some other nonsense... sinister forces mind control techniques to centralize their own power.

Is it any wonder Christianity is the fastest growing religion in China?

Imagine a couple of hundred years from now... potentially Taoism and subtle arts more or less dead... and historians or future persons making such statements as...the Chinese have/had no understanding of subtle energy...

I'd find that a very sad day
