Cave Temples

Nice, thanks for the pics. Great places to attain stillness while raining outside. I like the ones located on mountains atop:

Ancient Kingdom of Mustang, Nepal. Yara area.

The astonishing number of caves, some dug into the cliffside, others tunnelled from above are thousands of years old but who built them and why remains a mystery. Most likely related to Bon shamanic practices.

Hindu pilgrims line up to enter the Amarnath cave, near Sangam, 135 kilometres from Srinagar, Kashmir.
Thousands of pilgrims annually go to the remote Himalayan shrine of Amarnath at 3,888 metres above sea level to worship an icy stalagmite representing Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction.

Definitely not the same region, or practices, but there are caves which were temples, up behind the parthenon in Greece; amazing energy. Not many people seem to find them, so you can spend a decent amount of time there :). There are also old caves in Haiti, each one dedicated to a different Lwa. Then the Berber caves in Morocco, though I think those were more just for living in.
