Free quality Ebooks - the ultimate 'free' lend

Recommended Posts

I thought this might be a good place to put in locations of quality e-books that can be downloaded. This year my favorite author has been Ajahn Brahms a pretty hip Buddhist monk.

Two Three downloadable books of his can be found on this discussion page, Just this Moment, and The Jhanas.

Reading long documents on a computer is a pain. My tablet has the Kindle app. It allows me to load pdf's and other formats onto it for easy 'magazine like' reading. Still not as good as a book but saves on ink & paper.

edit again: You can find dozens of Ajahn Brahms audio lectures at http://diydharma.org

later edit

The site holybooks.com has many free downloadable gems. Just downloaded all 451 pages of

The Complete Book of Buddhas Lists – Explained by Dr. David Snyder

It looks pretty good. Bam, I've (almost) filled up my reading schedule for 2013 :)

I am almost ashamed to say i like my reader as much as a book, but for entirely different reasons. oh progress

heres a link, thanks to Tibetan Ice in the Dzogchen retreat w B Alan Wallace thread...

"If you are a voracious reader, I would recommend the classic Buddhist Meditation Manual. It is a really BIG book (853 pages) and it is free: http://www.accesstoi...ication2011.pdf but it is packed. A little hard to read, but it contains things nobody else talks about."

I consider Buddhism to be a relatively simple religion/philosophy, with commonsense ideas like don't spit in the wind or pull on superman's cape but boy do these guys write loong books.

Here's a possible idea: To keep this thread short and to the point, I suggest we try to edit into our original post what books we think are worthwhile. That way we keep a tighter, to the point post. Really good books and reviews we can throw into the Book Discussion area.

Ofcourse I'm adding a new post to say we should keep fewer posts. ah life.
