If I were to die tonight....

Recommended Posts

Fill in the blank .. I'll start:

If I were to die tonight, it would be with infinite gratitude to whatever conciousness that has permitted me to experience this magnificent universe. If, indeed my experience is only a matter of accident, then what a happy accident. To live, to think, to feel; these experiences have brought me (well, almost) endless delight.

Thank you.

(edit) I forgot to mention, but you all probably figured this out: You can always go back and edit your response if and when it changes. Something interesting to look back on at some point on down the road :)

Because of mind numbing horse stance and weird meditation I used to get into a state of not caring at all

Nothing was important, even my life. I used to just sit it out because I still had my memories and knowledge that If I died right then, I won't like it.

I used to be completely fearless like that, and I still do after horse stance but not that extreme, but normally I get scared of death when I think about. I don't do much now but because of death I would loose the chance to do anything else. Because of meditation all of my emotional reasons would leave me and the only thing keeping me alive would be my greed. Thinking over things for living, I could think of only greedy ideas.

Thinking over, death is scary in most cases because it's painful. You're sacred of the murderer because he has a huge knife and he's going to stab you and it's going to hurt. Since horse stance is so horrible, the pain stops being associated with death and it's not scary.

When you're a stunt driver or someone who does something dangerous, it's dangerous to hesitate when a wrong move might kill you. People hesitate because they are scared but without fear of death, people might just kill themselves without doing anything more with their life or because they are not scared, they don't hesitate to do something scary. On kung fu movies people sometimes comment about how it's impossible to get out after one strong punch and keep fighting like in the movies, but you know, these guys probably done a lot more horse stance then guys in the theaters.

So yeah, if I die, I'd give one more lecture :)

Tonight is my Cannon Fist taiji class. Whatever comes will find me kicking and punching.

If it comes later though, it will find me sitting in full lotus in front of the altar meditating.

If it comes later still, it will find me watching an episode of a British spy series aptly titled The Hour.

And if it comes later than that, it will find me sleeping.

My cats don't seem worried...

If I die tonight my first reaction will be 'son of a bitch', because I've enjoyed life and don't like seeing it end. With a little more time I'd count my blessings then compose myself for what came next.

IF death were to call soon, i'd remember my mother's love, my father's unfailing duty to his family, and my siblings, for standing together as brothers do...

I would hug my dogs and say sorry for having to depart.

Then, i would sit down (like Taomeow, in front of the altar) and contemplate the Buddhadharma one last time, together with my partner.

For the rest of it, come hell or high water, i'd hope to still post in the heavenly TTB and bugger the likes of marco, even in the next bardo.

For now, i'm gonna go play Zynga Poker on FB -- just so i could pretend for a while like im a multi-millionaire in the casinos of Monaco.

Will be chatting to y'all later, i bet.

Ciao bellas and bellos, adios!

If I were to die tonight, I'd be filled with regret for the things left undone, the things left unsaid, and the life left unlived.
