Looking for a book that explain the I Ching

Recommended Posts

Found Wilhelm's intro:

I saw some of the notions are his biased opinion. However, the Chinese scholars had given him some credit for translating the Yi JIng to a certain degree of accuracy, but still is not the best translation. As compared to Legg's translation, Wilhelm is much closer.

Thanks HE, and that's okay you dont have the PDF. I might be able to find a link somewhere. (-:

Hi Rene: Some links:

Not complete notes but at least a PDF:

http://www.labirintoermetico.com/09IChing/Wilhelm_R_The_I_Ching_or_Book_of_Changes_(abriged).pdf

Web based. To see H.E. example below of the notes, go to Hex 32 and then 'mouse over' the comments and you get more info:

Because there seems to be more activity in the I Ching section, I wanted to (once again) link to a book that I feel everyone should have. It's not elegant, it's not intellectual. It's straightforward and slick, and takes a ton of mystery out of the work. The most valuable section for me is the first half of the book where they succeed in making the incredibly complex history of the Yijing approachable for anyone who can read English, more or less. This book goes into the most esoteric aspects of the Yijing, but in everyday language... Well, a huge part of the first section is available as preview at Amazon, so just give it a perusal and decide for yourself:

The Complete Idiot's Guide to I Ching

My only wish is that this particular Yijing translation were available in a more elegant package/binding ...
