what is that? is is a higher self?

Hey people,

Im new to this forum and what brought me here is a question that spurred my curiosity.

Here is the thing. Have you ever talked to yourself? not necessarily out loud, but like saying: "hey [your own name], whats up?", or ask any question. At first usually its hard to get an answer, maybe you get a lazy "yeaaah" or "whaaat" or something.. Within some time though you are talking to a different you, that can give you insights, is smarter, more relaxed, even high, or even sleepy... At least that's what happens to me. I connect to a "higher self" it seems, and sometimes this 'personality' after connecting can overcome the usual personality for some time and be my own self.

I wonder, what is that that you are talking to when you talk to yourself? who do you reach? Is is your higher self, your inner buddha, your heart, your right brain? Or maybe youre just developing a split personality? LOL...

I wonder what you think about it.

Well, either you're talking to "ego/(phantom/stranger/illusory self/shadow)" or "Higher Self/(Tao, The Universe, Godhead, Brahman, the One, the Force, the All, Universal/Infinite Intelligence)" or a distortion between the two.

Emptiness will bring you the truth of fullness.

I first want to point out how odd the phrase "emptiness will bring you the truth of fullness" sounds. That's like saying eat nothing and you will be full. Emptiness does not bring fullness, in fact the emptiness that's talked about in this sense isn't empty to begin with and experiencing it brings neither fullness or truth, if anything you realize the complete absurdity of the idea of truth. That's not really a knock on you Fizix, but rather just an observation.

Second, having a conversation with yourself is a relatively easy thing to do, but in doing so, you must ask yourself, is this self I'm talking to a separate self, or is it me? Is this self I talk to the self that says what I want to say, but am too afraid to say, or is it truly a separate identity?

The exercise of talking to yourself is discouraged, because the practice is considered eccentric (if not crazy) by the majority, because our society teaches us that we are a single self within a single body within a single universe (do you see the pattern here?) The fact of the matter is that psychology is coming to terms with the notion that we are not really as united as we'd like to believe we are, most people have states within us that we don't even realize exist. They may not be full personalities but they are there. In fact under hypnosis it is commonly known that if you tell the person under hypnosis that you want to talk to the part of them that knows something, nine times out of ten that part will emerge and sometimes it will have characteristics decidedly different from the person being asked the question. What does this tell us about ourselves? Well it says that we really don't understand how the human mind works or even how we truly experience the world around us. One of the last hidden landscapes is the landscape of the mind, not only the mass of flesh we call the brain that it resides within, but the actual structure of the personality and the ego. Most psychologists discount the notion of ego, shadow, etc. because it is too limiting in regards to what we are finding on a daily basis.

So to answer your question, no it doesn't seem odd to me at all that you can have a conversation with yourself.

I wonder what you think about it.

We can always ask our higher selves a question and receive an answer. The answer I receive is usually filtered trough my believe systems. So sometimes I receive with little clarity. Yet, if I trust my intuition and keep asking "what does this imagination mean?" eventually, I will find out that I receive information constantly. All I have to do is clear the way, more and more each day.

For example, the head and tails question that allot of us might have asked. I asked, "is it head or tails?" I closed my eyes and followed my imagination in the search for the answer. Whatever came up, I took as part of the answer. As I imagine the answer and allow the higher mind to create these images and sensations, I play with them like a child. So that the higher mind plays aswell. Then the answers will have more ways of reaching me. And i have less need to judge an answer or dismiss it. I accept that the answer is only as good as the question that is being asked.

I closed my eyes and saw a quick vision of an angry cowboy with a revolver, and coins flipping. He shot and screamed. I assume there was a fight over a coin flipping scam. So this was an indication that I filtered the answer trough negative believe systems. To receive with clarity, you need to be clear in mind. Imagine me predicting the outcome of a coin and using it to scam other people? This was my intention and thus I had received the outcome clearly. It was neither heads or tails. It was a "battle".

Sometimes the question we ask is really not in our interest to be answered, but you will receive far greater answers then your mind is capable of imagining currently, if your follow the imagination trough, don't judge it, take it for what it is, and most importantly, play with and have fun in your receiving of answers!

Next I dismissed the need to scam, since it is not a reality I prefered to believe in. I tried again. As soon as I was asking the question, I felt "yellow" on heads and "green" on tails. "will it be heads or tails?" I closed my eyes and flew right into my hand and saw allot of yellow little m&ms heads screaming laughing playing. Obviously heads. I had to stand up and walk to the lights and discovered that it was yellow. I suddenly became lucid and discovered that the prediction of my awakening to the fact that I would have to walk to a yellow light in order to check the coin was a prediction that I gave far greater importance to then heads or tails. It was tails, but everythig about my experience in that moment was yellow. Even my smile felt as bright as the yellow sun.

I asked "why do I want to win at gambling?" i was guided towards certain thoughts which I gooogled. I came upon a youtube video about relationships. I discovered that my relationship with a casino would never work out. The casino want to win by having us loose, I want to win it all from the casino by havig them loose. So I decided, if I want to win, I want to win from someone who actually want to loose. That is a win-win situation. So how about I marry a rich person who want to loose some weight of their pockets? Haha

The higher mind always guides us to the path of least resistance in this way. Our mind just has to trust more in the fact that it is not capable to predict the future like the higher mind can. Higher mind got time in its pockets like we put hands in our pockets.
