nothing from nothing leaves nothing ?

or no-thing from no-thing leaves no-thing?

sorry, changed my mind

You call that "really nothing"?

Just joking. Of course nothing is everywhere. ^_^

Like a diaper? :)

Nope.

Here's a metaphor I once heard: when put in boiling water, an egg changes from soft to hard, a carrot changes from hard to soft, and coffee -- coffee --

changes the water!

I change my mind like coffee. :P

So, that post which I deleted because I've developed a habit of deleting my posts lately (here's how it happens: I write a post while my morning coffee is being consumed, my mind is not there to be changed yet... I don't know about everybody else but the no-mind state, to me, is the state you wake up in that lasts until the end of your first cup of coffee... so, then coffee kicks in, my mind returns, reads what I wrote while it wasn't there, instantly changes and tells me, hey, weren't you supposed to quit writing stuff here and do the writing elsewhere as you promised me you would?.. I go, oh, oops, sorry, I'll delete it, I won't do it again. That's the drill...)...

...as I was saying... that post had to do with doing a taiji form as a meditation and using the bare backbone of instructions as a mantra in order to prevent the mind from wandering away from what the body is doing... for which purpose I started arranging the instructions in a kind of rhythmic pattern. I posted the beginning of the resulting

Song of Chen Laojia Yi Lu, but then changed my mind... But what's to stop me from changing it again? :) and again? :)

Speaking of Coffee :)

Why Not

Spiritual enlightenment sits next to an empty milk carton on an orange lunch tray in a grade-school cafeteria.

It's lying in the grass in a ditch beside a rusting hubcap.

It's on the button holding closed the left cuff of a somewhat important man's shirt.

Enlightenment can be found next to the elevator on the fourth level of the airport parking garage.

You can ask your dog for it, but he may not give it to you.

Look for it next to the pen in the pocket of the checkout girl's red vest. But only on Wednesdays.

Enlightenment is in the trunk, behind the jack.

You can hear it in the squeak of a hinge on the door at the local library.

It's in the breeze blowing unheard through an unseen tree.

It's in the space after the exhale and before the inhale.

You can find enlightenment in church, in that scratch on the back of the pew in front of you.

You can find it in the desert, just before the wind picks it up again.

Enlightenment is nothing.

Delusion is the greatest wonder.

Enlightenment was in your coffee cup before you poured in the coffee.

Now it's in your coffee cup.

Two point two billion years before your coffee cup was created, Enlightenment was in your coffee cup.

An hour and fifteen minutes after time swallows the universe, Enlightenment will be in your coffee cup.

You've always known where it is because it's exactly where you left it.

How can you not return to a place you never left?

You are dreaming that you are unenlightened.

You are dreaming that you are awake.

The question is: Why?

The answer is: Why not?

So what's the topic? Changes or nothing?

(Yes, I know, I am supposed to be careful with my either/or's.)

Hah ... nothing changes. When did we ever need a topic on TBs? Mind you, I'd like to say ... no, I changed my mind, forget it ... it was great, special, insightful, brilliant even ... but no ... forget it ... I'll just ... go ... now ...

sorry, changed my mind

So, into what has your mind changed - and why to apologize? ^_^

That's what I'm talking about. We all too often decide to say nothing for fear of being wrong or sounding silly. That would be sad, I think, because what was thought by the person, if said, might help someone with their insight into a problem they are having at the time.

We should never be afraid to voice our thoughts and even our opinions and understandings as long as they are true and honest.

But anyhow, you are wrong, (Hehehe. I had to do that.) everything changes. Even dead things change. Change, afterall, is the only constant in the universe.

I have mentioned before on this board that I reserve the right to change my mind and I also reserve the right to be wrong.

I had a small whim

nothing much really

a leaf drifing on its own wind

but followed it

and it made all the difference

Thanks, its a little 'R Frost" I think ,but I think it true too.

I had been considering what one was left with

once one abandoned judgements about things

while trying to find inner peace

The idea that one was left with nothing disturbed me

I think it good to keep our whims and place a lot of emphasis on them

I also think beauty and ugliness can stay

I havent finished my list of illusions I prefer to keep

so I am considering suggestions

Between Beauty and Ugliness, how much difference is there? If it has black spots in its eyes it's god or whatever anyway, so all is beauty. No judgments necessary, just seeing the Void in the eyes, the little black spot in the eyes. All One.

But illusions to decide to keep? How about the one where we're all separate?

I think it might help to first determine which of your beliefs are supportable by 'real' physical evidence and which are illusions and/or delusions.

In my old age I find it increasingly easier to say "I don't know."

But yeah, even our illusions and delusions can be helpful so don't be throwing everything away.

I like the beauties of words and deeds and things , theyre rich and satisfying, the Ugliness is just the other side of the coin unavoidable (I have heard) , but I can usually play that down to other sentiments like interest.

As for the separate < Im confused by the paradox of your choice versus the phrase "All One" ??

But figure the tiny leaf of my own whim would be good enough to remind me I still remained distinct.

So I'd say we were on the same page there.
