Turkey Tail Mushroom

Stamets is one of the most prominent proponents of using mushrooms for medicinal purposes.

shiitake mushrooms have the longest track record of research in health benefits. Chemicals in them may stimulate the immune system and lower cholesterol.

White button mushrooms found in salad are also high in vitamin B complex, and the antioxidant properties of mushrooms could protect against heart disease and cancer.

And even hallucinogenic mushrooms are proving to have clinical uses. Psilocybin, one of the psychedelic compounds in "magic" mushrooms, may have uses for depression, a study recently suggested. There has also been research showing that healthy people given this drug in an experimental setting report having life-changes experiences and positive effects from them that last up to 25 years.

Stamets points to his mother as a living example of how useful mushrooms may be. Patty Stamets, 86, had stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in 2009, and doctors gave her three months to live. But after a year of turkey tail mushroom supplement in addition to the standard drugs Taxol (paclitaxel) and Herceptin (trastuzumab), she had no detectable cancer.

706988306_nuLKY-L.jpg

Stamets himself eats mushrooms three to four times a week, and he recommends that everyone else do the same. Always cook mushrooms to get their immune-boosting benefits, he says. Cooking also destroys any toxins that may be present in edible mushrooms such as shiitake and morels

Stamets likes his mushrooms crispy brown.

Dandelion tea can be found in mainstream grocery stores. I've bought the organic variation in such stores which has some other herbs mixed into it. I know it is a lot better for me than drinking bad coffee strained through cheap paper filters along with denatured white sugar.

Yeah, I mostly use my coppee pot that uses paper filters. I have an espresso machine with a metal filter but use that for only special occasions, like when I want a good butt-kicking.

IP6 (inositol hexophosphate)

IP6 is Highly Effective Alternative Treatment for Cancer

Anyone looking for effective alternatives to the treatments offered by traditional cancer specialists might want to look at inositol hexophosphate (IP6). It is a very simple and inexpensive treatment

IP6 is found effective against prostate cancer

In a recent study at the University of Colorado Cancer Center, more specific mechanisms through which IP6 is effective were identified. Scientists had previously found that IP6 increased the activity of genes that control proteins in human prostate cancer cells lacking functional p53, the gene that provides much cancer protection. They sought to determine whether this increased activity plays a role in IP6's anti-tumor effect. They found that the two genes activated by IP6, p21 and p27, play a critical role in mediating the anticancer effectiveness of IP6. Following activation of the genes by IP6, they were able to halt tumor growth and promote the appropriate death of cells in a process known as apoptosis.

other research from the University of Colorado that evaluated the efficacy of IP6 against prostate tumor growth and progression. Prostate cancer was induced in mice given either water containing IP6 or plain water. The researchers found that IP6 inhibited the progression of the cancer cells and strongly reduced the incidence of adenocarcinoma. This is of high significance because 95% of prostate cancers are adenocarcinomas, meaning the cancer has developed in the lining or inner surface of the gland.

The incidences of well-differentiated and poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas in the group fed IP6 were reduced by 44% and 62% respectively. Analysis of the prostate tissue showed a 3.5 fold increase in malignant cell death. This highly significant finding established for the first time that oral IP6 suppresses prostate tumor growth and progression at the stage of abnormal or uncontrolled growth.

IP6 is non-toxic and produces no side effect

IP6 is a compound found in beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds, rice and wheat bran, corn, and sesame. One-half cup of whole kernel corn contains a whopping 650 mgs of IP6. It is composed of an inositol sugar molecule (one of the B vitamins), with six phosphate groups attached. Because it is a sugar molecule, it has a pleasant, sweet taste. Because it is from food and not from a drug laboratory, IP6 has no toxic effects in the body even at high doses.

Although the IP6 compound was identified many years ago, it wasn't until the late 1980's that its ability to control the rate of abnormal cell division was discovered. A scientist from the University of Maryland, Dr. Abulkalam Shamsuddin, found that IP6 was able to halt well developed cancers. While most cancer research centered on killing cancer cells, Dr. Shamsuddin proved that IP6 could normalize the sugar production of cancerous cells, thereby altering their gene exp

ression toward a more healthful state. This discovery has major implications because cancer cells that are well behaved have far less negative consequences to health.

IP6 works in many ways against cancer

Whether from food or from therapeutic supplemental doses, IP6 works against cancer in several ways. Its ability to act as an intracellular messenger means that it is integral in many cellular activities including:

Normalizing the rate of cell growth

When cancer cells lose their control mechanisms, rapid and uncontrolled division of malignant cells is often the result. As IP6 repairs the gene mutations and reestablishes control within the cells, their rate of division is slowed

Enhancing natural killer cells

Natural killer cells are white blood cells that help protect against infected or cancerous cells. Research has shown that the higher the amount of natural killer cell activity, the lower the incidence of some cancers. A healthy human produces 500 to 1000 cancer cells daily that need to be identified and disposed of by the body. Natural killer cells and natural cell programming result in the vast majority of these cells being destroyed and removed. However, when the body is under stress, including the stress produced by lack of sleep, natural killer cell population is compromised. When the body is under the ultimate stress of being forced to face a diagnosis of cancer and the terrifying toxic treatments that go with such a diagnosis, the natural killer cell population can be reduced at the time it is most needed. IP6 has been documented and proven to increase natural killer cells at such times.

Normalizing cell physiology

Because IP6 is able to restore aspects of normality to the cells, it is able to modulate how a cancer cell expresses itself and how threatening it will be. Experiments have shown that IP6 is able to normalize several aspects of cell physiology in spite of the fact that cancer cells have altered DNA. It was demonstrated in the above noted study that IP6 is able to alter gene expression to restore normality. The more a cell can return to its normal state, the more it loses its malignant characteristics.

Increasing tumor suppressor p53 gene activity

DNA contains tumor suppressor genes that inhibit pathways and processes that allow cells to become malignant. The p53 gene acts as a control to prevent genetically damaged or cancerous cells from growing and propagating. If the p53 gene becomes damaged or compromised, cancers can establish themselves more easily. IP6 has been shown to greatly increase the amount of p53 gene activity, up to seventeen times. When augmented by IP6, even the toxic treatments offered by traditional medicine become more effective due to its ability to increase p53 gene activity.

Enhancing apoptosis

Apoptosis is the orderly programmed process by which cells naturally die off. The process of apoptosis results in the removal of individual cells without affecting the surrounding cells. It is part of the growth and maintenance of healthy tissues. Cancerous cells do not want to die and are resistive to apoptosis. This is one mechanism of tumor formation. IP6 has been shown to restore cancerous cells to normality to the point where they are able to follow through with their programmed death.

Affecting angiogenesis

Angiogenesis is the process by which tumors set up their own blood supply, to assure themselves of getting the nutrients necessary to grow. Once this blood supply is set up, tumor growth spirals as more growth leads to more blood supply creation. IP6 has been shown to inhibit this process, resulting in the starvation of cancer cells.

Powerfully chelating heavy metal

Tumor cells use iron as a primary growth factor. According to researchers at Wake Forest University, iron chelators are of value in the treatment of cancer since they act by depleting iron and limiting tumor growth. IP6 binds with iron and escorts it from the body. Because IP6 is naturally found in all human cells, it has the ability to get inside tumor cells and remove their iron.

Inhibiting metastasis

IP6 inhibits cancer cell migration and invasion by preventing the adhesion of these cells to extra-cellular matrix proteins. This limited adhesion is very important following surgery and biopsy, as these procedures can cause cancer cells to become dislodged. One reason so many breast cancer patients have lymph nodes containing cancer cells is that the squeezing of the breast by the mammography used in diagnosis can dislodge cancer cells which then migrate to the lymph nodes.

Inhibiting inflammation

One key indicator used in predicting the survival rate for a cancer patient is the level of systemic inflammation. Inflammation is like a fire going on in the body that will destroy it if not stopped. IP6 helps stop inflammation through chemical messages that halt the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Inhibiting free radical production

IP6 acts as an antioxidant in the body. Antioxidants are known to protect against disease states and aging in general. Antioxidants bind with free radicals rendering them harmless. In their free state, these radicals can damage DNA and leave cells susceptible to mutations that can result in the production of cancerous cells. IP6 is significantly more potent as an antioxidant than green tea.

IP6 influences genes to halt colon cancer

In another recent study, more information about the molecular mechanisms through which IP6 acts was revealed. Scientists at the Medical University of Silesia in Poland investigated the influence of IP6 on the expression of genes encoding subunits of NFkappaB and of its inhibitor, IkappaBalpha, in human colorectal cancer cells. The results of their study suggest that IP6 primarily influences p65 and IkappaBalpha expression in colon cancer cells. The amount of activity seen was dependent on the IP6 levels and the amount of time it had been present in the cells.

Populations with diets high in IP6 have low incidences of cancers

Dr. Shamsuddin's studies have shown that tumor regression takes place in people using 8 grams of IP6 daily for three to four weeks. This is the amount that would be found in 12 ounces of whole kernel corn. One of his studies found that after two weeks the tumors of mice treated three times a week with IP6 were 96 percent smaller than the tumors of mice that did not receive IP6. Populations with diets high in IP6 have lower incidences of cancers of the breast, colon and prostate. Dr. Shamsuddin's laboratory experiments with IP6 have been reproduced and extended by scientists around the world, reconfirming his amazing findings. This study is from Acta Poloniae Pharmaceutica, November through December, 2008.

IP6 is more than a cancer treatment

In addition to the anti-cancer benefits of IP6, research is revealing its benefits in treating diabetes, depression, osteoporosis, heart disease, and kidney stones. It has recently been shown to help Parkinson's patients because of its ability to chelate excess iron and thereby reduce oxidative stress that results in neuronal degradation.

Treating cancer with IP6

For anyone choosing to use IP6 as a cancer cure or a preventative there are some things to know. IP6 is present in all human cells, and considered quite safe to use. However, IP6 obtained from food is bound to protein. Before it can be absorbed by the body, it must be freed from this protein by the enzyme phytase that is present in food and naturally in the intestinal tract. The power of the phytase enzyme is damaging to IP6 and renders much of it inactive and therefore less effective when obtained in this form. Pure IP6 from a supplement is not bound to protein and is easily absorbed intact and able to provide its complete medicinal properties.

Many holistic healers and naturopaths recommend IP6 as a standard alternative treatment to be used along with others alternative treatments for active cancer. For people with a high risk of cancer or who have had cancer and want to prevent a recurrence, IP6 is also consistently recommended. Some traditional physicians are becoming aware of the benefits of IP6 and although they can't bring themselves to abandon their toxic treatments, they are adding IP6 to their protocols.

IP6 goes by the chemical name inositol hexaphosphate.

IP6 is basically a sugar molecule with phosphate groups attached.

IP6 has been shown to inhibit various cancers in humans and animals.

IP6 has been shown to be an effective treatment for kidney stones, high cholesterol and high blood lipids.

Much of the scientific support for IP6 is derived from the research of noted scientist Abulkalam Shamsuddin, M.D., of the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Foods that contain significant amounts of IP6 include: soybeans, rice, sesame, beans, legumes, corn and cereals.

IP6 has no known toxic effects.

It is also an important component of cereals and legumes and may be the active ingredient in fiber that is anti-carcinogenic.

IP6 has been shown in more than 25 studies to prevent the growth of tumors and shrink existing tumors. But what if we drank the IP6? Rats that were given IP6 in their water had an even lower incidence of tumor formation. In fact, drinking IP6 seemed to work twice as well as eating the high-bran foods.

Most IP6 is derived from cereals. Corn apparently has the highest concentration of IP6 (~6 percent), followed by sesame (5 percent), wheat (2 to 3 percent) and rice (2 percent). As of this printing, IP6 should now be available in pill or powder form. The advantage of taking a pill over food is that not all IP6 is absorbed from food. For instance, if you eat 100 gm of rice, not all of the 2 gm of IP6 present in that rice will be absorbed.

Inositol hexaphosphate (IP6) is a naturally occurring polyphosphorylated carbohydrate that is present in substantial amounts in almost all plant and mammalian cells. It was recently recognized to possess multiple biological functions. A striking anticancer effect of IP6 was demonstrated in different experimental models. Inositol is also a natural constituent possessing moderate anticancer activity. The most consistent and best anticancer results were obtained from the combination of IP6 plus inositol. In addition to reducing cell proliferation, IP6 increases differentiation of malignant cells, often resulting in a reversion to normal phenotype. Exogenously administered IP6 is rapidly taken into the cells and dephosphorylated to lower-phosphate inositol phosphates, which further interfere with signal transduction pathways and cell cycle arrest. Enhanced immunity and antioxidant properties can also contribute to tumor cell destruction. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this anticancer action are not fully understood. Because it is abundantly present in regular diet, efficiently absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, and safe, IP6 holds great promise in our strategies for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

Contrary to the dogma and skepticism at that time, we showed that IP6 is taken up by malignant cells and that orally administered IP6 can reach target tumor tissue distant from the gastrointestinal tract. Because of the highly charged nature of IP6, it was a common misconception that it could not be transported into the cells.

As hypothesized, it was demonstrated that IP6 is a broad-spectrum antineoplastic agent, affecting different cells and tissue systems.

One patient with liver metastasis refused chemotherapy after the first treatment, and she was treated only with IP6 plus inositol; her control ultrasound and abdominal computed tomography scan 14 mo after surgery showed a significantly reduced growth rate. A reduced tumor growth rate was noticed overall and in some cases a regression of lesions was noted.

In humans, IP6 not only has almost no toxic effects, but it has many other beneficial health effects such as inhibition of kidney stone formation and reduction in risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Given that tumor cells utilize iron as a primary growth factor, cancer researchers are searching for a drug that would be able to attach to (chelate) iron molecules and remove them from the body, thus producing an effective anti-cancer drug.

Rice bran extract (IP6)

Nature's most effective iron-chelating molecule is inositol hexaphosphate (IP6), found naturally in seeds and bran. IP6 is a selective agent against cancer cells. Because cancer cells are high in iron content, IP6 directs most of its attention to abnormal cells. IP6 selectively removes iron from tumors cells, which deprives them of their primary growth factor. IP6 does not remove iron from red blood cells which are tightly bound to hemoglobin. Unlike cancer drugs, healthy cells are not affected with IP6, so IP6 has very low toxicity.

There have been numerous lab dish and animal studies that conclusively prove IP6 is an effective and non-toxic anti-cancer molecule.

Sulforaphane

Eat Your Broccoli: Study Finds Strong Anti-Cancer Properties In Cruciferous Veggies

Researchers at the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University have found that sulforaphane – a compound found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, bok choy and brussels sprouts – has strong anti-cancer properties.

Even more promising results have been found in broccoli sprouts. The tiny, thread-like broccoli sprouts sold at stores next to alfalfa sprouts have more than 50 times the amount of sulforaphane than found in mature broccoli.

While Ho said the research is not at the point where she can make a specific recommendation on how much broccoli or bok choy to eat, she personally tries to have two servings of cruciferous vegetables a day.

“The compound in broccoli may be one of the strongest anti-cancer fighters we have,” Ho said.

JOHNS HOPKINS SCIENTISTS have found a new and highly concentrated source of sulforaphane, a compound they identified in 1992 that helps mobilize the body's natural cancer-fighting resources and reduces risk of developing cancer.

"Three-day-old broccoli sprouts consistently contain 20 to 50 times the amount of chemoprotective compounds found in mature broccoli heads, and may offer a simple, dietary means of chemically reducing cancer risk," says Paul Talalay, M.D., J.J. Abel Distinguished Service Professor of Pharmacology.

Talalay's research team fed extracts of the sprouts to groups of 20 female rats for five days, and exposed them and a control group that had not received the extracts to a carcinogen, dimethylbenzanthracene. The rats that received the extracts developed fewer tumors, and those that did get tumors had smaller growths that took longer to develop. In a paper published in tomorrow's issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Talalay and his coworkers describe their successful efforts to build on their 1992 discovery of sulforaphane's chemoprotective properties.

naturally occurring compounds in edible plants that mobilize Phase 2 detoxification enzymes. These enzymes neutralize highly reactive, dangerous forms of cancer-causing chemicals before they can damage DNA and promote cancer.

Sulforaphane "is a very potent promoter of Phase 2 enzymes," says Jed Fahey, plant physiologist and manager of the Brassica Chemoprotection Laboratory at Hopkins, and broccoli contains unusually high levels of glucoraphanin, the naturally-occurring precursor of sulforaphane.

Sulforaphane, Compound In Broccoli, Could Fight Leukemia: Study

A powerful cancer fighter might be sitting right on your plate.

A new study from Baylor College of Medicine researchers shows that a compound found in cruciferous veggies, like broccoli, is able to kill leukemia cells in the laboratory.

The findings, published in the journal PLoS ONE, showed that incubating the compound, called sulforaphane, with cells of acute lymphoblastic leukemia caused the cancer cells to die. Plus, the sulforaphane didn't seem to have any kind of effect on healthy cells.

A past study in the journal Clinical Cancer Research also showed that sulforaphane is able to kill breast cancer stem cells in mice and in lab cultures, and also prevented new tumor cells from growing.

Raw Foods Detox Diet

After an initial surgery for Stage 3 colon cancer, Chris refused chemo against the advice of his doctor and has been cancer-free for the past 8 years using a raw foods diet, juicing, herbs, rebounding, sauna, prayer & other natural therapies...

Cannabis

2zfritw.jpg

Cannabis oil may actually be the #1 natural cure for cancer, though. Allegedly, you stand a good chance of curing your cancer in a few months for just $2000 with it. And with a lot less pain!!! B)

Although, I would still combine it with other therapies, ESPECIALLY those for resolving deep-seated psychological issues and releasing emotional traumas...

Ketogenic Diet

Cutting out carbs if you have cancer could also starve out cancer cells, which apparently cannot metabolically switch from consuming glucose to ketone bodies, like normal cells...

ketogenic diet amounts to nothing less than a drug-free cancer treatment. The diet calls for eliminating carbohydrates, replacing them with healthy fats and protein.

The premise is that since cancer cells need glucose to thrive, and carbohydrates turn into glucose in your body, then cutting out carbs literally starves the cancer cells.

This type of diet, in which you replace carbs with moderate amounts of high quality protein and high amounts of beneficial fat

ketogenic diet, which can be summarized as a high-fat, moderate-protein, no-grain-carb diet, has brought many back to health, even after being diagnosed with aggressive cancer, and given no hope of survival.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNLtVIfsEiY

Just imagine if you combined this diet with some of the other numerous herbs and therapies in this thread...! You could stand a pretty good shot! It will be up to YOU, to take control of your own health though, not Big Pharma/Gov/Bro!

The reason for not initiating clinical trials on the RKD for brain cancer management in the US remains unclear. Some have suggested that the North America Brain Tumor Collaborative (NABTC) prefers “hand-medown” drug therapies from other cancer studies rather than exploring potentially more effective alternative approaches. It is unknown if the reluctance to consider alternative approaches to GBM management rests with the NABTC or with those who advise the Collaborative. Based on pre-clinical studies in mice and case studies in patients, it is obvious that the RKD should be investigated for its therapeutic potential for managing GBM and other malignant brain cancers. The failure to initiate clinical trials is unfortunate especially for those GBM patients who might benefit from using the RKD for managing their disease.

I am a strict Paleo dieter(local, no GMO, pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, grass fed free range) doing Keto for almost a year, that has been in Ketosis now for 2 months straight. I started because of severe GI problems I was having, and have never felt better in my life. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I am losing a lot of body fat without muscle and becoming very lean! Technically speaking we do not even need carbohydrates at all to survive. There are many people who live very happy, healthy lives with zero carbs. Fats and proteins are where it's at!

If anyone is interested in the Paleo or Ketogenic diet please let me know if you would like any advice!

If anyone is interested in the Paleo or Ketogenic diet please let me know if you would like any advice!

Hi Dzogchen. I wouldn't mind some advice.

I've been steadily cutting down on carbs recently. Initially it was for fat loss but I can see the benefits of a total lifestyle change. Mainly my diet consists of organic meat, veg, fruit, nuts, eggs and a little organic milk and organic yoghurts. Potatoes, rice, bread, noodles and pasta have all but disappeared from my life. Hunger is something I'm trying to overcome at the minute.

I wouldn't want to see all the good work I've put in over the last few weeks come undone.

That's great to hear! I actually was battling with hunger as well and tried many different things. I had done local sourced food for a while and then was on and off Paleo. I have been strict Paleo for 4 months now and been in Ketosis for over 2 months straight.

The most important thing to remember with any type of diet is that everyone is different. With that being said, most Ketogenic dieters calculate what they eat by figuring out their macros. Basically this means that they figure out the exact % of what to eat for each day. No matter what, to begin you will want to stay under 30g/day as far as carbs, under 20g if you can. The most common macro % is:

  • 65% fat
  • 30% protein
  • 5% carbohydrates.

Some do 45/45/10 (and everything in between), again it will all depend on what works best for you!

Now this is just a general rule, but seems to work well for most, even if you don't hit every % perfectly. If you do mostly protein, that is called a Protein Sparred Modified Fast and even though it will rip the fat off your body it is hard to do and some say it can be a little unhealthy.

You can do a weekly, or once every two week "reefeed" or carb load where you take in as many carbs as you want for 12-24 hours. This is to replenish glycogen, but there are always debates on what is best, and many debate this aspect as well. As I said above there are people that do zero carbs and even entire cultures that have gone 1000 years low-to-no carbs, so just play around and see what works for you! When reefeding, it is known as a Cyclical Ketogenic Diet or CKD.

There is also doing a small carb load just before and after a long or hardcore workout. Some do this for energy boost to gain muscle/mass, I just workout without the carbs and do fine, it all depends on what works for you. This is called Targeted Ketogenic Diet or TKD.

Honestly, I personally don't count calories and I just ballpark figure out daily fats and proteins now. Just make sure carbs are very low.

No matter what you choose, fruit will add up quick, it is full of carbs. Usually a few days of meat, leafy vegetables and under 30g of carbs will put you into Ketosis. 36 hour fast with only Coconut oil will probably do it. Medium Chain Triglycerides or MCTs help out a lot. I recommend Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil, it is great for your entire body (I eat it, put it on my skin/hair and cook with it) but it is awesome for Ketosis! Also gives an awesome amount of energy. Many different things can knock you out of Ketosis, mainly carbohydrates. Some can go into Ketosis in a day, others may take a few days to a week.

I would also stay away from the nuts, they usually have a lot of carbs. No nuts, or fruit, and I would stay away from milk/yogurt or most dairy. Cheese is usually low carb, a lot of Keto dieters eat plenty of cheese. I am strictly Paleo so no refined sugars, gluten, grains, legumes, dairy. Nothing with hormones, antibiotics, GMO-free, free range preferably frass fed. Nuts are fine on Paleo, just that when you want to go Keto they will add carbs fast. I usually make my own homeade almond milk and it is delicious, but if you do nuts keep them to a minimum. Yogurt is actually a very hard thing for most peolpe to give up, but no dairy is best (besides cheese).

If you adhere to these rules, you will find that over time your cravings for these foods goes down. Everything else starts to taste better as well when you aren't on the SAD (Standard American Diet). When you go into Ketosis, you start getting less hungry as often and have less cravings, that's a huge benefit of Keto. Check everything you eat online. Just google things like "almond nutrition" and there will be charts that show how many carbs are in a cup of almonds. Use this to keep carbs low.

Once you get into Ketosis, I would buy Ketostix. These are tabs you urinate on that will tell you when you are in Ketosis and how moderate your levels are. This will help you find a good balance of things you can eat. Some people can eat 80g+ of carbs each day and stay in Ketosis, once you are there for a while it gets much easier and you will have a lot more leeway. While in Ketosis, don't forget to drink a lot of water.

Here is a good Keto calculator if you want to try: http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

There is also plenty of good info and friendly people on www.paleohacks.com

There are a lot of different things that can come up or can be confusing. I will message you my email and if you are in the US my number to so you can text/call if needed. I have been studying these types of things 4-20 hours a day for the past 16 weeks, so I am definitely interested and ready to help.

Last thing I will say here is that even just being Paleo has greatly helped out my Qigong. I think that Paleo/Qigong-Taiji combination can turn anyone's life around. Also doing Qigong, Keto and Taiji I notice I am much healthier, happier, and have got very lean lately. I haven't been sick in a very long time.

Feel free for anyone to PM me for any advice!

Not sure how ketogenic diets fare in terms of blood acidity and other metrics, etc for general health, though?

Anyhow, here's 8 attitudes generally shown to have helped in healing cancer:

Need a Healing Miracle?

Arielle Essex

After reviewing 1574 cases of people who enjoyed spontaneous remissions from cancer, IONS discovered that the people who heal all make the same eight significant changes on a mental and emotional level. What excites me is that these changes match the same discoveries I made when learning how to heal my own tumour with NLP. What's even more exciting is that anyone can make these changes, especially with a little help. Here are the eight factors that help healing to occur:

1 Face the crisis and rekindle the power to find a new way of life that is fulfilling and meaningful.

2 Find meaning in the experience, and find reasons to live whilst accepting the diagnosis, but not the prognosis, and above all, believe in a positive outcome.

3 Be comfortable with and express positive and negative emotions. Learn to say 'no' when necessary.

4 Have at least one strong loving relationship, and a supportive connection with an organisation or community.

5 Work in partnership with your physician

6 Take control of your life, including personal, professional, emotional,

Some of the MAIN ones are taking responsibility yourself and having good relationships...

Artemisinin (Wormwood)

Artemisinin contains two oxygen atoms hooked together that break down in the presence of iron, by creating very reactive free radicals that kill malaria parasites and cancer cells. Both cancer cells and malaria parasites sequester iron, accumulating as much as 1000 times what normal cells store. Giving artemisinin to people with malaria or cancer results in destruction of these abnormal cells and leaves normal cells unaffected. Artemisinin is a cancer bomb!

Generally, chemotherapy is toxic to both cancer cells and normal cells. In the case of artemisinin this is not true; only the cancer cells are damaged. In more than 4000 case studies, no significant toxicity from artemisinin has been found, which makes it far different than conventional chemotherapy.

There are three forms of artemisinin: artemisinin, artesunate, and artemether. All are absorbed well after oral intake and cross the blood brain barrier. They are best absorbed on an empty stomach. The intestine builds up resistance to absorbing, so it is wise to only take the drug for a few days and then stopping for a few days as this resistance is reversible.

artemisia.jpg
The substance, artemisinin, is derived from the wormwood plant and has been used in China since ancient times to treat malaria. Earlier work by Henry Lai and Narendra Singh, both UW bioengineers, indicated that artemisinin alone could selectively kill cancer cells while leaving normal cells unharmed.

The new compound appears to vastly improve that deadly selectivity, according to a new study that appeared in a recent issue of the journal Life Sciences. In addition to Lai and Singh, co-authors include Tomikazu Sasaki and Archna Messay, both UW chemists.

"By itself, artemisinin is about 100 times more selective in killing cancer cells as opposed to normal cells," Lai said. "In this study, the new artemisinin compound was 34,000 times more potent in killing the cancer cells as opposed to their normal cousins. So the tagging process appears to have greatly increased the potency of artemisinin's cancer-killing properties."

In the study, researchers exposed human leukemia cells and white blood cells to the compound. While the leukemia cells quickly died, the white blood cells remained essentially unharmed.

Because they multiply so rapidly, most cancer cells need more iron than normal cells to replicate DNA
. To facilitate that, cancer cells have inlets on their surface, known as transferrin receptors, in greater numbers than other cells. Those receptors allow quick transport into the cell of transferrin, an iron-carrying protein found in blood.

In creating the compound, researchers bound artemisinin to transferrin at the molecular level. The combination of the two ingredients appears to fool the cancer cell.

"We call it a Trojan horse because the cancer cell recognizes transferrin as a natural, harmless protein," Lai said. "So the cell picks up the compound without knowing that a bomb – artemisinin – is hidden inside."

High Voltage (Lightning)

One of the interesting things about people who've been struck with really high voltage, such as lightning, is that there has never been a recorded case of cancer, being struck by lightning, where it didn't cure the cancer.

Most of them [hit by lightning actually die].

But, those who have cancer and live, the cancer is gone. - Dr. Jerry Tennant

So if it doesn't kill you, it WILL cure you!!! :D

i tried that a no carb diet diet but ended up feeling weak. You can power up with chi but it feels insubstatial, like i feel full of energy till i try doing heavy work and i just feel weak and dizzy. I dunno i think every body is different and works better on different things but every time i try some new radical diet i always end up going back to a little bit of everything, a varied balanced diet. Thats all u need, eat what you feel like and what makes you feel good and stop eating just before u feel full. Cant get any more simple than that! Maybe that no carb diet is good for someone who does no exercise and high fruit n veg n low fat is good for athletes, just to balance yourself out.

I know a couple who have decided to try this diet. I warned then about what you just spoke to. Low carb, yes - no carb, no.

But we each will do what we thing might be best for us.

I am still taking my dandelion root capsules. I have no idea if they are helping as they are supposed to prevent something that might not happen to me whether or not I am taking them. Funny.

I have 2 related stories I will share.

1) My cousin is a naturopath and has been studying it for approx 30 years. She diagnosed herself with uterus cancer through looking at spots on her iris. Western doctors (GP's and specialists) did not believe her until they did tests. Her uterus was removed and she made herself herbal cocktails for healing and future well being. She is fine now.

She also used to mix me herbal cocktails whenever I had earaches when I was young and they always helped but they tasted disgusting ;p

2) My mother is a traditional Chinese medicine doctor and has been studying for approx 10 years. Last year she diagnosed herself with skin cancer. She went to the GP and they told her its not cancerous but just a growth. She went back a second time to the specialist because she did not believe it and told them she wants a sample taken and tested. Tests came back from the specialist that she had skin cancer on her thigh. First operation took most of the lump out and second operation took the circumference of the skin cancer just in case. Mum also made herself Chinese herbs to take for healing and preventative reasons which TCM is well known for.

Mums Chinese herbs are also disgusting but work ;)

Both women specialise in helping women who cant have children and they both have great track records. The mixture of herbs both prescribe seem to play a big part in helping the women fall pregnant and have children.

Peace FT

I believe that every antidote and cure can be found in nature, be it herb, plant, animal etc.

It seems to me that just like yin / yang theory everything has its opposite.

In my opinion nature screams to me to have an intelligent designer behind it...

But that is another discussion in itself worth discussing & exploring :)

Peace FT

Hehehe. Yeah, there are other places where we can talk about ID.

I do like your comment about "... everything has its opposite."

And I would also agree that there is a lot more we, the individual, can do to maintain our wellness. But for most of us it is easier to go to a doctor. (Personally, I don't think the doctors need my money so I keep it and do the best I can at maintaining my health.)

Ah yeah sorry mine was low carb, i did no carb for a couple of days and guts got all blocked up and going to the toilet was a battle and a half, even with added fiber. I don't think it's good to have fiber suppliment just so you can go on some diet thats supposed to be healthy. Later i had lots of peas and corn (frozen and convenient) and some fruit too, they are sweet but still not enough carbs and my job is not labour intensive either. I'm not so keen on wheat stuff but a little is ok, and potatoes are good. If you drink alcohol on these low carb diets you get drunk pretty easy. Saves money but i think it means you're more fragile and suseptible to poisons, which indicates to me it's not healthy - for me at least anyhow.

I have to admit though, if you want to lose weight fast, and you don't have to stop eating meat and fat, u can even make sandwiches and use bacon for bread.... damn it does sound appealing! You can even use splendour and you can still have sweet stuff. Sweet and fatty, my 2 favourite ingredients! =]

Bacon. Hehehe. One of the worst heart-healthy foods one can eat.

I don't eat much bread but when I do it is mostly Pumpernickel.

I don't eat as much veggies and fruit as I should and that is one of the reasons I take vitamins, minerals and other suppliments.

And it is true that if a person is not very active they don't need too many carbs in their diet.

Sweet & fatty. Yep, that's me. Imported European cheeses (soft ripened), chocolate candy and ice cream. At least I get my calcium.
