How to do the "Seal the Leaking Door" exercise?

Hi, I'm 19 years old and have serious problems with wet dreams, so I want to try the "Seal the Leaking Door" exercise from Mantak Chia's book "Taoist Secrets of Love: Cultivating Male Sexual Energy" but I really don't understand how to do it correctly, could someone please explain it to me?

 

This is what he states in his book:

One is lying flat on your back, thinking and concentrating on bringing warmth to the hiu-yin and testes. Do this for about ten minutes.

After doing that for ten minutes, do the Big Drawing, clenching the teeth and fists, putting your tongue up to your palate and drawing in by tightening the feet and buttocks.

Start to pull in from the Hui-Yin, testes and penis, holding your breath while doing this.

Hold this for one to two minutes and gradually increase to five minutes.

Do thirty-six repetitions five times a day: 180 times altogether.

 

So how I understand it is this:

1. Lie on your back for 10 minutes concentrating on bringing warmth to the hiu-yin and testes.

2. Do the Big Drawing (do 4 sets of 9 rapid muscle contractions (36 contractions altogether) of the teeth, fists, feet and buttocks while holding the breath.

3. Hold the breath for 1-2 minutes.

4. Do this 5 times a day.

 

But I'm not sure if this is correct.

Can someone please also explain to me what "drawing in" and "pull in" means?

At a beginner level, the focus would be strengthening the muscles, and getting a feel for drawing the energy upwards. I found that when I started using MCO circulation more often during sex then the practice carried over into dreams, so "real world" practice will eventually influence dream world practice. Some people here have expertise in lucid dreaming which I strongly recommend for this situation.

 

Thank you. I started doing the Deer exercise, do you think that this is good for strengthening the muscles and getting a feel for drawing the energy upwards?

I will look into lucid dreaming.

 

Can you (or anyone else) also tell me if I understood the Seal the Leaking Door Exercise from Mantak Chia correctly, like I described it in my first post?

I'm not familiar with this specific exercise, but from what I can tell, you've understood it correctly.

 

I'm not sure what exactly is meant by 'draw' or 'pull' in this instance. It could be a muscular contraction or more of a postural adjustment or a little of both. It could also mean that you should feel like your breath is entering your body from the Hui-Yin. When I come across instructions like that I usually try to 'play' with it until it feels right. Not always the most effective approach though. If you have a taiji or qigong instructor, you might want to ask them.

 

One suggestion I will make is for you to skip step 3. Go ahead and 'draw' in from the hui-yin and all that, but don't hold your breath. BK Frantzis and several people on TTB have discouraged breath holding of any sort, especially for beginners. And holding the breath for 2 minutes!?!? That sounds like a bad idea to me.

 

Also, I'm a native English speaker, professional writer, and editor and your English is pretty good by most standards. ;)

I think I will continue with the Deer exercise for 1-2 weeks and if that doesn't help, I will start with the Seal the Leaking Door exercise. :)

The deer exercise alone will be enough. It will be time, but it takes time for lasting results. Be very very sure you take it slow, or else you have to decondition your perineum before you keep trying to excel (or you'll have premature ejaculation)

 

Differenciate your light contractions from your medium, then to your hard. but most of all don't over do it. The inward drawing of the energy will happen spontaneously when you least expect it if you're diligent, and most likely faster if you're practicing the MCO.
