The tao always laughs at itself.

Recommended Posts

So yeah the other night i had a thought if everything is tao then the tao is always laughing at itself, for example if chirstianity if the tao and i think some "rules" set forth by god are laughable it is the tao laughing at the tao.

By rules i mean like not wearing an article of clothing made up of two fabrics, if you do your going to hell for all of eternity.

What clothes, mon ami!!❤ hahahhaa!!

The realm of selfless nonorigination is laughing its ass off right now, as it always has without beginning. it's humming in a void forever at the brink without ever overflowing and without ever knowing.❤

But let us remember that it is only man (and women) who set up these contradictions that are to be laughed at. Perhaps Tao is laughing at only humans and his/her efforts to be immortal?

I have read here on TTB few times this winter that laughing is not so good becouse you loose jing .

I wonder how does that work for Tao if she laughs a lot ,is Tao going to become jing deficiant ?

Is this something to worry about or leave it to Tao ?

Ah, life ...

My suggestion - if you have a reason to laugh, laugh; if you have no reason to laugh, get another life.

Laughter is good!

Tao began by taking itself very seriously. As an infant Lao Tzu was born with a full head of white hair to show he was actually an old man who demanded respect! Later when he got imto advertising he tried to loosen up, but it was very difficult for him. There was always this thing in the back of his mind about his father, who was a star, and very demanding. He tried psychoanalysis for a while, but Freud was still young and inexperienced in that incarnation so it didn't help much. Finally, though he really didn't believe in such things, he started looking for a guru, and he found this young beauty who he became very attached to, and then one night she said, "Mello out L. Easy does it." So he tried that, and it worked. and there you are. . . or you would be if you followed his example.

Laughter is good!

I recall reading/hearing somewhere that there are two types of laughter.

There is laughter from the heart, which is a true expression of self and joy and all that good stuff.

And then there is laughter from the mind, sorta like you hear something that is sarcastic or ironic, and you "laugh", but it's not the same kind of laugh that comes from the heart.

Laughter from the heart heals you and others, it spreads around, you don't lose energy when you do it, in fact, it vitalizes you.

Laughter from the mind at some witticism or sarcasm actually cuts away at you.

Upon hearing that distinction, I realized just how much stuff in the modern world relies on that "intellectual laughter"- jokes based on sarcasm and irony, witty stuff that people feel like they "should" laugh at it, but really, there's no impetus to make them laugh. Their cart is before the horse.

For what it's worth (oh boy, here I go!) I think the issue surrounding ejaculation is the same type of thing. Seth Ananda has posted a couple of times about traditions in which orgasm and ejaculation are vitalizing and without loss of energy/jing- I think it's similar to that laughing from the heart.

The problem is people get that confused with stuff that goes on from the mind, the "intellectual" sex that "oh, I am having sex now, I guess it's time to ejaculate... oh, I am watching porn now, I guess it's time to ejaculate". It's not a genuine expression of the current moment, so it actually eats away at you.

Maybe.

As far as laughing at yourself goes, people who can't laugh at themselves tend to be rather rigid people/institutions. Very un-Tao. People who can laugh at themselves don't take themselves seriously, like, say, comedians. Interesting, comedians are unafraid to get the closest to the truth, to put it right out there in a way that everyone can understand, to make no apology, and to not tout any party line. Hmm... comedians are taoists.....

Yes laughter heals and vitalizes. I havent had problems with loosing energy through ejaculations yet :ninja::lol: , but also think it is similar to the laughing from the heart.

In fact this concept of doing 'from the heart' can be applied to any situation ,to whatever needs accomplishing, whilst dealing with people, while waiting at the bus stop(although I try to avoid that and cycle everywhere)or bank... and a person can feel vitalised and empowered most of the time. It is one of my favorite tools for going through the day at work coupeled with 'not taking things personally'.As well as learning to 'pick and choose' my emotions and actions to get the best results for the enviroment and myself.

Hehehe. I didn't expect that question. I have no answer prepared.

I suppose that we should go window shopping first. Window shopping being looking deep into the essence of our being. Take off all the pretty clothes and see what we really are - to see what gives us peace and contentment.

Then we work at becoming what we really are. Funny, that thought. We are already what we really are. We have just been trying to be what others have told us we are supposed to be.

Too bad we can't just order a new one over the internet. That would be so much easier.
