  1. 1. A friend proceeds to talk about a subject. It could be any subject. Do you:

    • Begin critiquing it in your mind with your opinion

    • Look for a message for yourself in what is said, although they are not critiquing you.

I think I know what you are getting at.

Some people immediatley formulate judgement, even before a word is spoken. Vice versa is that some are constantly trying to think what others are thinking about them.

I honestly do not think that either one of these is the way. Meditation has helped me a lot in these regards.

Reminds me of an old song. "You never know just how you look through other peoples eyes"

Listen first....speak later

Yeah, I still have this problem about my timing of listening and speaking.

My best friend was here yesterday morning for a visit and I notice that I still, while listening to him speak, hear something I wish to speak to, and interupt what he is saying to speak to what was just said.

I know this must be irritating for him.

I wish my memory was long enough so that I could keep my mouth shut and listen until he was finished and still recall everything he said that was important for me to respond to.
