does anyone on here know how to do the meditation for trekcho or thogal?

i know in thogal you are suposed to stare at a part of the sun or a candle in one of three poses. Is this correct knowledge?

You're trying to get milk from a male dog. If you keep going, you won't be happy with the results. It might look like milk, but it won't be.

so your saying alwayson does not know what the thogal practice is?

Perhaps. But, thogal is a very advanced practice. If you don't abide in nondual presence 24/7 then it is pointless to do thogal. The book Heart Drops of Dharmakaya has (I think) the only public teaching of thogal. This is from that book:

"Lopon comments that the distinctions are being made between

the two techniques in order to clarify them in relation

to one another, and not to suggest that either can work on its

own. Without the fundamental practice of the Trekcho view,

the Togel will have no meaning, although it will work. Without

Trekcho the foundation is not safe for Togel. Many

people are keen to do dark retreat straight away, but without

Trekcho there is no base for the visions to come."

So, if you're curious you can get that book, but there's no point in doing thogal until you can do trekcho. And, from experience, trekcho is far above what 99% of spiritual practitioners can achieve. It is very difficult.

On top of that, you'll need transmission of Rigpa from a genuine Dzogchen master and have mastered stability in this state before even embarking on secret oral transmission of Togal practice from the same teacher or one with similar level of clarity in the realization.

Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche is one of the only ones giving Rigpa transmission publicly for free, but not the only one giving the transmission to people. But, most masters will have various preliminary requirements in Vajrayana practice that might take some years to complete.

Asking about these deeply subtle practices online will only lead to curiosity, but not completion... in my opinion. But, anything is possible.

Alwayson is not a dog, but he's not, and none of us here are qualified to transmit such profundity.

"Heart Drops of Dharmakaya" is the only book to my knowledge available to the public that talks about the secret Dzogchen practices, which most likely won't bare any complete fruit without genuine transmission of the state of Rigpa beyond concepts from a qualified Master.

Just my few cents.

Maybe you should read a book about it...and then teach it to others, like what you are going to do with qigong.

Then you can call yourself Rinpoche as well as Grand Master!

I never said i was going to teach qigong. i was asking for your oppinion and since it was a resounding no then i was never going to do it. I find this rather funny.

...but you DID say that you felt it was time to pass on your knowledge to others, even though you didn't seem to know much of anything at all.

you're missing Dainin's point. and maybe you don't want to hear it, but i'll restate it differently.

you seem to be looking for a shortcut to spiritual greatness. you don't seem to have enough patience or discipline to build a foundation, and you keep looking for ways to fly before you've learned to walk, or even crawl. you appeared to be an adult in your video, but you consistently demonstrate a tremendous amount of immaturity in your approach to these things. you're like a kid looking for all the neat magical stuff that's fun & might even impress your friends.

you're skipping past the most important part of spiritual training. devote your time to mastering the basics. no one outgrows their foundation. i still practice the first things i learned, every day. and they continue to nourish and reveal new insights to me. THAT is how one achieves mastery. not by chasing after fantasies, but by recognizing and honoring the profound that exists within simplest of practices.

do you meditate 2 to 3 hours every day? do you have a daily devotional practice? a daily exercise routine that you DIDN'T invent yourself? i already know the answer is NO, but then why make a thread with questions about the highest arts when you haven't even put yourself in a position to understand them?

a ton of people here would be happy to help you establish a REAL practice of cultivation for yourself, and i think it's pretty obvious that you need that help. you seem to have a real passion, but you need both STRUCTURE and DISCIPLINE.

but you have to be willing to see that truth for yourself. OR, you can keep wasting year after year, not really getting anywhere.

you need a teacher. you're not doing very well on your own, and it's obvious.

YOU NEED A TEACHER.

i LOVE YOU! :) and i get your meaning. i hope you didn't miss mine. contextually, if he were doing what you just suggested, most of us here would applaud him. i know that i certainly would. but he was laying claim to having enough knowledge and depth of research to be fit for teaching. not even close.
