Taoist Philosophy

Recommended Posts

Great post Marblehead.

Apart from your posts and my 365 Tao posts, there seems to be not much on cultivating the Way.

This is a shame, a great shame indeed when it's meant to be a Tao based forum.

We don't have much of an audience I'm afraid.

Most folks on here seem to be obsessed with which qigong is superior, which religion or belief system is best. Special powers etc etc.

From now on, no more 365 Tao quotes from me. Nobody's interested.

"There is no way to get intimate with him,

But there is also no way to shun him.

There is no way to benefit him,

But there is also no way to harm him.

There is no way to ennoble him,

But there is also no way to debase him.

For this very reason

He is the noblest thing in the world.

Therefore the Sage dwells in nonactive affairs,

Manages affairs without action,

Practices the wordless teachings,

And preaches the doctrine without words.

The Ten Thousand Things take their rise,

But he does not begin them;

He acts on their behalf,

But he does not make them dependent,

He does not take possession of them;

He accomplishes his tasks,

But does not dwell on them,

And he claims no credit.

It is only because he lays claim to no credit

That the credit cannot be taken away from him."

Are you callin' me a sage? XD

Sounds like how i live my life. the general philosophy to be "harmless, not helpful".

Oh well, I might change my mind. :)

Anyway, how can you be nobody when I am ?

Nobody is perfect, I guess that's why we're nobody. Perfect cannot be exclusive! so we must both be nobody, if nobody's perfect!

Sad you feel that way. Sad too if you stop the 365 Tao thread.

Actually, there a quite a few members here who enjoy the reading of Taoist philosophy and there are occasions when a post will generate a discussion.

Don't give up on us, Okay.

Peace & Love!

Well, I wouldn't put myself on the line to call you a Sage just yet; afterall, I have known you for only a few days. Hehehe.

But yes, a way of life that harms as few as possible (we do have to eat) I think is a valid lifestyle. Peasonally, I think that we should try to be helpful when we can though (without allowing ourself to be taken advantage of).

Peace & Love!
