Qing Gong

Recommended Posts

Despite what anyone will tell you, the recipe for Qing Gong has been lost.

We do not know the Qigong exercises they did, and we only know they strapped weights to their ankles & jumped out of pits, and walked around the edge of a bowl filled with sand, while emptying more and more.

There's even a video on youtube of the bowl. But again, we don't know the whole recipe.

Possible? Of course - many of the famous Shaolin "supernatural" feats were merely things that people spent YEARS developing. They weren't supernatural, but they also weren't natural. Many of the results of these so-called special skills didn't result in practitioners living too long.

Nothing is lost.

Just understand that phenomena are conditioned and also not conditioned. Second, understand how to change this conditioning.

To say that phenomena are conditioned means we perceive that there are certain relationships between phenomena. Understand these and feel them.

To say that phenomena are unconditioned means we recognize that all relationships are subject to change and that also, at the highest, most holistic level, nothing external or inherent makes anything what it is. This means you understand that the world is void of substance.

So the first understanding gives you a picture and the second understanding gives you a way to paint that picture and to change the painting at any time.

In order to operate on phenomena in a way that is thought to be miraculous, you have to produce a miraculous intent first. In order to produce such intent you must first raise your mind above convention, because miracles are simply unconventional happenings.

Just like moving your arms is a manifestation of your intent, so is everything else that you can imagine. The difference is that you accept without question that you can move your arms. Other things -- not so. And intent is very subtle and gentle. You cannot intend to do something that is contrary to your highest intent, and your highest intent is what maintains convention in the first place. So first you have to become aware how you keep convention in place. How you keep the world the way it is. Then you can change it too. But to change it, you must have willingness. If you are unwilling to lose your world as you know it, with all the limitations that are old, familiar and seem comforting to you, then you can't move across the experiential space freely.

All this is in you. It's not lost. If you just pay attention, give it some thought, you'll realize all this and more very soon.

Hard-style training is probably not going to develop any real qing gong. You have to do qigong and cut your root to the Earth.

Is Qing Gong possible? I found this http://www.mediafire.com/?3gvsvxz3mz2 describing how to do it.

Here's a video of a guy doing some qing gong basic training:

This video of Zhou Ting-Jue AKA 'Master Jo' is also pretty interesting as well.

He does his qing gong demo towards the end of this video. His qigong healing technique

shown in the first part of the video is interesting as well.

Once again defering to people who have first hand experience in these matters:Jim the former student of John Chang mentions his former sifu being able to make his body so light...that he can jump[has too meditate for two weks though to prepare] over a house! He also mentioned his sifu having partial levitation and that Chang believes he will have mastered it completely in a few years.Of course this path is closed to us, I only mention it as to what's humanly possible.

The founder of bagua[or the man who made it public,Tung Chaun] was renown for leaping up into the air hanging by ceiling beams.Reportedly he could jump as high as twenty feet. He passed on this knowledge to one person while he was perfecting his skills in the moutains. This same person showed up in Beejing as a cat burglar[years later] using his skills to leap over walls.Tung found out and ordered him out of his town or he would kill him for his immoral use of his teachings. This experience soured Tung on teaching ching gung or light body skill ever again.Sounf familiar?

Here are the two books about the "72 secret arts of shaolin temple":

http://www.kungfulibrary.com/shaolin-kung-fu-4.htm

http://www.amazon.com/Consummate-Secrets-S...3952&sr=8-1

These 2 are similar with some differences in the details, however do not trouble yourself to buy them as they are incomplete as a training guide, I already mentioned the relevant training method from the yellow book in this post.

If you really want to learn light body then look for parkour training or track down Master He Jinghan or go to a shaolin temple or tibet, here are some links and quotes:

Gong Baozai did manage to pass onto us practically the complete framework of the root ba gua quan system; but even he did not learn the qing gong (lightness skills) - the flying art, that his teacher had.
Sounds like qing gong is a lost art now. :(

In my experience, most of the personal stories I've heard were also of the masters' masters (IOW, 2-3 generations ago). I guess at that pre-modern time, these masters were still trained starting from childhood. But, with the advent of industrialization, that seems to be where it usually ended. Has anyone seen any modern demos of this skill? Has it survived anywhere? I've heard John Chang can do it, but aside from him, anyone else? Heck, I'd even settle for a nice photo or vid. :D

qinggong_removed.jpg

This also involves shifting the center of weight, getting as low/close to the thing you are standing on as well while keeping in mind the shifting, and focusing your energy upwards, doesn't it?

no idea but i believe this is one of the training method for classical qinggong.

p.s. I got this picture from a private source so i don't know whether you can find it on the web. I blocked out the identity because i am not sure the person in picture would want his face plastered all over the internet.

What an odd view.

Old martial arts teacher used to tell me unless you have become a master at a practice only then can you talk about it.

At the time he told me this after i started copying how he made fun of other martial arts in our class. I started to act with such arrogance. The problem was my teacher was either stupid being self modified later by his teacher as he learned to conduct himself better or my teacher purposely said stupid things to spread chaos among people attempting to genuinely learn real martial arts.

Inner Harmonies state:

- Heart and mind act act as one.

- Mind and chi combine.

- Chi and strength are together.

Keep in mind:

- Spirit to Mind

- Mind to Chi

- Chi to Strength

Totally good idea. i think just it shows respect and consideration. and it doesn't intentionally obscure anything.

basically a win-win imo. That's pretty good. just my opinion.

I have training footage from China of a woman performing ching gung[making the body light] and standing on two raw eggs. She also stood on two matchboxes. In a recent video I posted a qi gung doctor is walking on paper extremely thin and not cracking it.The series mind body kick ass moves[first episode] shows Tui Jinn painting a picture of Damo while standing on two crates of raw eggs.
