Extreme Gas During Meditation

Recommended Posts

Turns out I'm lactose intolerant.

Try eating yogurt, or taking a good bacteria called lactobacillus sporogenes. Lactobacillus sporogenes is a good spore forming bacteria which can survive being dried out in a pill form and readily colonize your intestine. Your issue may be due to a deficiency in good bacteria which break down lactose.

Goat's milk can usually be found at local health stores, and apparently it is better for lactose intolerant peeps. Although I'm not one, I really like it!

Well, I took your advice. Turns out goats milk gives me uncontrollable diarrhea. The stressful part of all of this is that I have lost friends due to chronic bowel problems and the strong smell of feces.

After the goats milk I crapped myself at my afternoon yoga class. The instructor took me aside and asked me not to come back until I have the problem under control.

Dude, that really sucks...I had this same problem, but I found out that I was lactose intolerant when I was 3. I hate to say it, but if you plan to go anywhere, I would avoid dairy products completely. There are other sources to get those same vitamins and nutrients that you are missing from milk. Unfortunately, you may really enjoy a lot of dairy products. Like I said, I was 3, so I grew up knowing that certain things are gonna set me off.

Are you just now finding out that you are lactose intolerant? You can try eating yogurt, that's what my mom did with me. It still gives me gas, but not a sick case of the squirts like I get from drinking too much milk. You can still have ice cream and your favorite cereals, but you have to eat something solid with them, you know?

Every now and then I will go to work on an entire box of Lucky Charms, but I know that I better not go far from the bathroom for a day or two. Welcome to the Lactose Intolerant club...it has its perks-- like if you have to chaperone a trip of teenage boys who insist on wrestling all night in your hotel room, you can just gas them into submission... literally... (haha, the hosts treated us to dairy queen that night). :D

On a lighter note:

Most mammals can be milked (least the females can).

I suggest you start out w/ Aardvark milk and

work your way through to Zebra.

You'll eventually find one you can digest.

Or you might want to give milk altogether-

at least before classes

.

B)

If you want to know someone who's really gassy during meditation you should take a class with Mantak Chia. When he meditates he has his mouth open and there's a constant gurgle coming out. Its disconcerting but as his more experienced students say- better the top end then the bottom.

i don't get it.

why do you want to feed milk to an lactose intollerant guy.

it just evades my all-pervading wisdom and understanding.

before you give stupid advices, try to consider YOU'RE NOT A SPECIALIST and he may have even greater problems.

that's not compassion, it's genocide

jeez :(

dude, the word D-O-C-T-O-R means anything to ya?

Actually he seemed to be feeding himself milk after finding out he's lactose intollerant.

He's not going to find Aardvark milk or Zebra milk.

Its not genocide Little1 :)

its a reminder don't drink milk.

Perhaps (the or) was too subtle for you, but I hope Matt got it.

Did you? Or is the search on for Aardvark milk :lol:

FWIW, I had IBS, about 10 years ago. I know what it's like. I used to have to travel a lot for my work. All the time you plan where the next toilet is going to be! :D

I went on a general detox and cut out dairy products and wheat. I also discovered a product called ThreeLac that really seemed to crack the problem. I still don't eat wheat and only a little yogurt now and then, but have been free from IBS for years.

way :)

sorry for the outburst Michael, but it wasn't your post that triggered it.

this stupid thread was the last straw for me.

working in a medical environment i know how difficult is to find out the exact cause of the problem and find a SUITABLE cure.i know the actual modern medicine may suck, but it's WAY better than ignorance.

actually, it's not the modern medicine that sucks, it's the way it's applied.

anyway my 'advice' was general, WHEN IT COMES TO HEALTH ALWAYS CONSULT A SPECIALIST

it's great to have you 'homework done' but don't rely solely on it.

you'll freakin' regret it. and then blame it on natural medicine and daoist practice, that allegedly screwed up your body. no less than you deserve, and should stand as a lesson for everyone.

...but there, i'm calming down, and, to make it up....

enjoy

Sorry to hear about your yoga mishap, what a nightmare! This might be too obvious to mention, but there are lots of non-dairy, vegetarian milks available in health food stores, and now even supermarkets, including rice milk, soy milk, almond milk and hemp milk. They are all lactose-free, and as an added advantage, don't contain carcinogenic bovine growth hormones, steroids, antibiotics, and other extra crap that we get in milk here in the U.S. Although I did see an article recently that stated many brands of soy milk have a chemical called hexane in them. One brand they mentioned that does not was Eden (there were a few more that I don't remember). Personally, I find the product called "Rice Dream" to be quite tasty.

Michael is right about Mantak Chia. I have some audio tapes of him, and he keeps burping constantly. It gets pretty annoying actually.

There is no need for grown adults to drink milk, or any milk-looking/tasting milk substitute.

If you simply want protein and calcium, or whatever, there's plenty of other sources. And there is no reason why they even have to remotely look or taste like what they're "replacing."

Just because you're used to drinking a white liquid, does not mean your body actually needs a white liquid or anything resembling a white liquid to "replace" it.

Damn, sorry to hear about that, Matt. It wasn't my intention to make you have diarrhea in your yoga class.

About why it was recommended...

I have known quite a few people (in real life) with lactose intolerance who can have goat's milk all they want. If you do a search on google, you will find the same info. Of course it doesn't work for everybody...and you should have read my words more carefully:

"...apparently it is better for lactose intolerant peeps."

That doesn't translate as: "go and drink a bunch of it without testing it on yourself first!"

Little1, I don't need to be a specialist to recommend something that generally works. I also work in the health care field...so you're not special. I had assumed Matt had already consulted a specialist because his post said, "turns out I'm lactose intolerant" and smart people don't diagnose themselves.

Chill out. Live and learn.
