calligraphy

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about taking private lessons in calligraphy. I've been working with ink and feather before, and various slit pens, but this time its going to be korean calligraphy on rice paper with brush.

We are going to prepare the ink also. Do any of you have some tips or thoughts to share on the subject?

I love Chinese and Japanese calligraphy. I played around with it a bit and concluded that I'd need some expert guidance to make meaningful progress but never pursued it.

At a martial arts tournament a few years ago I commissioned two pieces from master Jiang Jianye of video tape fame. He did one for me of the characters Ce Bei meaning compassion with a quotation under it from the Dalai Lama referring to the fact that the world has plenty of religion but not enough compassion; and another of Jin Qi Shen.

Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work in a few months!

I am only vaguely familiar with this topic, but isn't there a branch of qigong calligraphy, and these calligraphy scrolls can have quite powerful attributes?

Love my brush pen! <3

(Haven't worked with prepared ink, went for convenience.)

Do you do that magical Taoist talisman sort of calligraphy?
