  2. In order to succeed to subdue the enemy in one move, you must practice every day. In one year you can achieve a foundation, in two years a small accomplishment, in 3-5 years a great accomplishment. During a stay in the temple, one has the opportunity to learn the practice method and requirements to achieve one of those true Gong Fu skills. The practice can be later taken back to one’s home country for further development. Some types of Gong need to be practiced at childhood. It is extremely laborious hard work. Gong Fu is the practice of your own supernatural and extraordinary abilities. Higher Gong Fu already surpasses the Gong Fu category as it is the practice of Qi and of special energetic fields, which does not come from jumping or bouncing around, but from the gain of sitting meditation and stillness cultivation. In the past times, without fire arms, only people who had Gong Fu could protect their own lives, their families’ lives and family belongings. Nowadays society is peaceful and calm and laws are firm, so our study of Gong Fu is for removing illnesses, for a strong body and healthy physique, to entertain and perform for the masses and to help others. In the end after successful refinement of your Gong Fu you must not compete for supremacy with others and you should not be fond of winning or injuring others.
  3. zhan zhuang feedback

    I recently recorded myself doing zhan zhuang to analyze my session. Playing the video at about 4x speed, I can see a lot of movement in the lower back (I am moving the shoulders as well, but those more intentionally), which somewhat resembles nauli kriya to me . When doing zhan zhuang I can feel myself stretching the spine, creating more space between the vertebrae, and I usually think of breathing into my upper back. One question I have is whether in the practice of zhan zhuang such movements are desirable or whether more stillness is desirable instead. Any other feedback is welcomed.

I am a Master of TaijiQuan, I've studied over 33 years the mystic and practical traditions of qigong, martial arts and meditation. I've studied Yangstyle Taijiquan for combat over 27yrs now. My specialty is helping others to obtain the practical high level proficiency needed to use taijiqian in any way shape or form they need it to manifest within their lifestyles.   5. Fujian White Crane

    Hello eveyone, I have recently heard that Fujian White Crane is a very practical and effective internal martial art that also has some external aspects within it. I did some research into it and found out that Fujian White Crane is a progenitor art of Wing Chun . It was a video I saw of a FWC lineage holder talking about the history of the art. He mentioned that Wing Chun is only basically half of Fujian White Crane. Does anybody know about the accuracy of these claims? Also how effective is it truly?

  7. Spider Kung Fu

    Hello, I was recently reading through Shadow Strategies of an American Ninja Master by Dr. Glenn Morris. In the book he seems to present the origins of Bujinkan Ninpo Taijutsu in a chinese style called Spider Kung Fu. He says that some of the Kamae (Basic Postures) in both Bujinkan and Spider Kung Fu are the same. He also says that the style was a secret style used to protect chinese emporers. I have searched google, amazon and youtube and only found a few obscure references to this kung fu style in forums. This was probably the most helpful link i can find. An inspection of the linked site shows no references to spider kung fu. here are another link This speaks of a movie. Does anyone know anything about this style of kung fu. Are there any books, or dvds? Any info about qigong forms or emphasis in training (internal vs external). Most of the links indicate that it is a shaolin form that is only taught to masters. This may suggest that it emphasizes internal kung fu. Heres the fight scene with the spider kung fu guy in challenge of death. You can clearly see him using hira no kamae and shizen no kamae (Taijutsu). Mostly theatrics. Thank you Love and Light *edited to add link.
  8. I lift competitively in the 165 lb class. I am very tight and I started qi gong and zhan zhuang to become more flexible. By accident I felt some small amount of chi discharge down my spine and through my legs while doing squats. I can't replicate this situation. Would one of you that has enough experience with anything similar (possibly an internal martial artist,) suggest some qi gong to boost and direct chi while lifting? I would be very grateful for any help. Just as the internal martial arts are a spiritual path I feel I could turn powerlifting into an internal path if I went about it properly. Thanks ---Dan
  9. Looking for a teacher

    Hello im wondering if anyone on the forum knows of any masters or skilled teachers that are in Vancouver B.C. Canada. Im going to be moving down to the city to go to school and would like to immerse myself more in the internal arts. My goal being I want to integrate the old with the new and supplement my boxing/wrestling (mma training) as well as develop healing abilities along the way. Currently I practice Zazen meditation and the spring forest qigong level 1 standing exercises.
  10. What is the importance of neigong in internal martial arts? Well, according to a very highly respected bagua zhang practitioner from Beijing, Ma Chuanxu, practicing martial techniques in internal martial arts without first developing neigong (which primarily involves opening the small and large circulations) is just a waste of time from the point of view of ever developing high level internal martial arts skill. This is why authentic internal martial arts training primarily focuses on practices which develop neigong. In xingyi, they typically might do a lot of standing practice, while in bagua it is lots of basic circle walking, and in taiji regularly practicing the taiji form will develop neigong, although all of the internal arts may supplement with other neigong practices as well depending on the exact lineage and teachers. Can you achieve high level neigong if you do not maintain a long period of celibacy while developing your neigong skill? According to Ma Chuanxu, no, but men who are not celibate can apparently achieve a lower degree of neigong if they do not have too much sex. I am not sure if there is any such requirement for women, but it was primarily men who learned the internal martial arts during Ma Chuanxu's time, so that is why he likely didn't comment on the requirements for women. Ma stated that a serious internal martial arts student would need a period of about six years or so of celibacy to develop good neigong skill, and even then that is only if they are practicing very diligently and correctly of course. This would explain why so few internal arts practitioners reach a high level of internal skill, as the requirements and commitment is not at all easily achievable by most people. Ma did say that once you have achieved a good level of neigong skill that the practitioner can have sex once every two or three months without too much problem, (which should no doubt be reduced as you get older), but too much more than that and you will likely degrade your internal skill too much. You can read the whole interview with Ma Chuanxu by Jarek Szymanski from 2000 at the following link. I think it is very interesting reading for the student of the internal martial arts, or for anyone who is interested in understanding the requirements of authentic neigong training. It is not often that you get to hear a real master speak so openly about the requirements for training neigong in the internal martial arts. Here's a video clip of Ma Chuanxu doing a little bagua and xingyi, probably from a number of years ago. Very fluid and soft, as authentic internal martial arts which are built on neigong require. Ma Chuanxu is probably around 80 years old now, based on the birthdate that Jarek indicated for him.
