Hi everyone, i am very pleased to suddenly happen onto this forum. Quick glance shows a range of topics interesting to me. I have a background in both internal arts and external. I studied privately with T.T.Tchoung (linage holder) plus introductions to L.H.B.F. and numerous other arts. Private student of Tom DyTang of Kalis Ilistrissimo and Guro L. Lindo of Ikatan Kali. There is so much to learn but so little time to learn it. Seems the more i study the less i know. Keep on moving forward everyone
  2. Open Explorer

Hello I'm a 52 year old Qigong practitioner and spiritual explorer (and many, many other things ha). In the short time (1 year!) since I followed my intuition to my first Qigong class, I've experienced mind-blowing sensations, an endless source of renewal, and a feeling of being bigger than I ever imagined. I feel gratitude and excitement in pursuit of The Way.
  3. Hi there

After maybe years of visiting this forum for good quality info I decided to join and participate. I've done some martial arts in my youth (Judo, Taekwondo, Pencack Silat and Tai Chi). I practice and teach Traditional Japanese Reiki (my Reiki Practice Hatsurei in Arnhem, the Netherlands: www.hatsurei.nl), and Qigong is also part of my daily practice. I've experimented with different Qigongs. I'm attracted to how Damo Mitchell describes Daoist Neigong (very similar progression as in Traditional Japanese Reiki), I dabble a bit in Shaolin Cosmic Qigong through flowingzen (I like the simplicity of it), have some experience with Spring Forest Qigong, and am now exploring Flying Phoenix Qigong which resonates very well with me. I'm studying for my acupuncture license. Second year starts in september, looking forward to it! Traditional Chinese Medicine and Daoism is such a vast subject! I have found a path of study, practice and work for life, with infinite depth. Jay! Nice to meet you, see you around.
  4. Greetings!

Hello everyone, I am Jared. I am a composer & sound designer living in LA. Since high school, I have always held much reverence for the concept of Tao and the various manners through which it is portrayed. I do not have many with whom I am able to discuss it and I would certainly like to continue growing in my knowledge of it. I once wrote a piece for solo piano called Tao, inspired by passages from the Tao Te Ching and writings of Chuang Tzu. You may listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/jared-chance-taylor/tao-i-dream-like-ii-soft-pliant-iii-like-white-water-rapids I am very happy to be on this site and to get to know some of you better. Best, Jared
  5. Hello Everyone

  7. Hey boys n girls!

    How yall doing?
  8. Hello! Thanks for reading this post. I'm never sure how to introduce myself, so I'll go right into things I do and look at, and relate to. I'm a unique individual and I tend to stay positive. I struggle with anxiety, though, and still haven't found a place to call home, or spiritual home. Taoism is the closest thing I've found, and I look forward to deepening my understanding. My life doesn't align completely with my beliefs so, here I am!! Help!! Lol... I'm nice and give until I'm exhausted. I eat too much. I work out 5-6 times a week, when my bad back allows me to. I'm a workaholic and I'm not sure my boyfriend and I will last. I pride myself on strength and strive to be like water. Yielding but persistent. I like dragons, yoga, coffee and I miss having cigarettes with my coffee. I like to write too. Favorite movie, Dumb and Dumber. Favorite song, Girl from the North Country. Favorite band, Cage the Elephant. Oh and here's my face. Go Reds.
  9. Helloo

Oh hello there. I go by the alias Solemn Shade when I'm online, but anyone who remembers after reading this is free to call me by my name, Scott. I'm 22 years old from Canada. I've recently read Alan Watt's 'The Way Of Zen', 'Tao the Watercourse Way' & 'This Is It' and have really enjoyed delving into Taoism. I'm open to any book or lecture recommendations so feel free to comment with some if you're willing to share, and I hope to have a nice stay while visiting these forums. Thanks for providing the opportunity to learn more.
  10. Hello

Hello all, I'm very happy to join your forum. I've been interested in Taoism for a long while now, but I'm just now beginning to develop a deep passion for it. I hope to find great resources and friends here.
  11. Hello

Hi, I'm Peg from Pennsylvania. I've been exploring qi gong for several years, and from that, I've developed an interest in daoism. I'm looking forward to learning here.
  12. Hello - Introduction

Hello, I have browsed this forum from time to time over the years but never registered before. I studied tai chi with TT Liang for 2 years until I moved to the Southwest. Have been practicing Buddhist meditation for many decades. Began studying tai chi again recently. I am in my 60s now. Joined the forum because there were some things I wanted to read that were apparently only accessible to registered members. I'm not yet 100% sure how this registration works. For example, I was not able to edit my profile (indicate my gender, etc) I currently live in Massachusetts
  13. Hello. I would like to learn what I can on this site to supplement my Tai Chi and of course, my time on this earth. I'm making my 71st trip around the sun--which has included much Zen and Buddhist study, martial arts, and 30 years of wrestling with "right livlihood" issues as a San Francisco Police Officer. In conclusion, I hope--like me, you can see the opportunities an Officer can have to try and have a positive effect--even among those who are troubled. I worked hard enough that I don't try to hide that I was a cop. I hope this is a satisfactory introduction. I look forward to learning things here. Best, Splash
  14. What's up? ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ

Hi folks! I'm a 24 year young male from Sweden. I was at a Vipassana retreat last year and that got me hooked. Now I want to explore as many different meditation and cultivation practices as possible to find if something else fits me even better and that's why I'm here! If you have any questions just ask! Thanks for letting me be here and absorb your wisdom!
  15. Introductions

Hello, My name is Dan Tao, and I'm an acupuncturist and herbalist out of California with my Doctorate and a Ph.D candidate in China. I tend to relate everything from a Daoist point of view back to my experiences with the TCM, since I feel that the medicine itself is a good foundation for the exploration of Daoist cultivation. I hope to be able to add to the conversations. See everybody around
  16. Hi everyone! My name is Zetta and I've just stumbled upon the beauty of Taoism. Even though I'm new to this path, it already feels like home. I think this philosophy will pair beautifully with my Tarot practice, and I also can't wait to learn about the I-Ching system of reflection/divination. Maybe I'll write a few posts about my comparisons on here. Are there any other psychics on this forum? Thanks to whomever may be reading this post, and I hope we can learn from each other soon!

  18. New to Taoist Cultivation

Hi all, Im relatively new to the whole esoteric Taoism + neidan cultivation practices but I've always had an interesting in philisophical Taoism ever since I read the Tao Te Ching in high school. I've always self-identified as a Taoist philisophically but until now I've not explored what it means to live life according to those principles in a conscious way. Some background on me -- - I practice westernized Vinyasa Yoga 5 days a week, and have been for about 2.5 years. - My introduction to esoteric Taoism/neidan cultivation started with Mantak Chia's book "The Multi Orgasmic Man". I also have his book "Awakening Healing Energy Through the Tao". I don't follow the practices to the letter but rather just take the parts that work for me, like the microcosmic orbit and inner smile meditation. Why I'm here -- - I've reached a point in my neidan cultivation where I don't think books and videos will cut it anymore. I want to meet other practitioners and ultimately a master/sifu who can guide me in my practice so I don't hurt myself or needlessly waste my efforts. - Yesterday I experienced what I believe to be a "kundalini awakening". At the point where the energy reached the crown of my head I began to experience a disintegration of my ego into a larger consciousness, but I pulled back from it by bringing the energy back down the functional/front channel of the microcosmic orbit. I feel normal again today but im left wondering what path I should continue to take in this journey of spiritual development. Thanks all and I hope to become a contributing part of your community.
  19. hello everyone

hey i would like to learn from everyone here and also share the knowledge i have acquired o ver the years!
  20. Taoism has been kind to me

Hey, Long story, short. Tried 8 brochades randomly on youtube. And had strong calming, and centering effects straight away. After lurking on this forum, i narrowed it down to Ken Cohens, and Spring Forest Qigong as a next step. (SPQ had way too strong effect on my body and emotions, so im waiting a bit after some scary moments ) I've had eczema and candida albicans issues since i was 2 years old which only got worse in time to severe social anxiety and neurosis, bells palsy (losing contact with half of my face), clogged sinuses and digestion issues. This stacked with a imbalanced family dynamic and some dark clouds, made my life feel worthless. I am now about 3 months in of cultivation and practice everyday (Two 30 min sessions), and i have never been healthier, or remembering feeling better. After about a week in my practice, my body didnt want meat, so ive been a 'vegetarian' since then round about 2-3 months in.. This happened very naturally, and was effortless. Have had a spiritual/occult inclination since i was a kid, and since then (now 28) ive tried Yogic/Buddhist practices, which did nothing for me compared to the Taoist systems, which i find deeply mystical and practical to say the least. Never had results like these. Love it that this forum exists, and reading posts from people with experience both negative and positive. Cheers
  21. I am hello.

Hello, Tao Bums. I'm a Taoism enthusiast, long time lurker, first time poster. Figured I'd get involved in the great discussions here, share what little knowledge I have and maybe learn something. Maybe. Not sure how much of an introduction is usual, but I'm software engineer turned audio engineer, both of which are disciplines to which I've found the Way to be very applicable. I've been studying Taoism for about a decade now and am slowly but surely collecting and pouring over various Taoist scriptures. I haven't gotten involved in Qigong or Tai Chi, but am looking for someone locally under whom I can study Taoist meditation practices. I also write for fun, both non-fiction on my blog and whatever strikes my fancy in the handful of books I've written but never published. Usually philosophy. Anyway, enough about me. Tao Bums, tell me about you!
  22. Greetings

Hello everyone at Thetaobums.com I would like to introduce my self and get to know more people in this forum whom I can learn and share some wisdom. My background in short: I am self taught in the fields of expanding my consciousness to the depths of enlightenment. My journey is far from completed in the sense of "My true being" seeks the wisdom of "life" and "wisdom". Most of my knowledge in general comes from absorbing material from internet, books, dreams and spirits I meet which enlightened me to the true path of life. However I am very open minded in the sense, if you have some knowledge to share I would gladly absorb it to my own library which I call "Personal Akashic records". What my being seeks...., probably the main reason why I stumbled across this forum and community is get together with individuals such as yourself and share infinite knowledge of the path of enlightenment. Hope to get to know many of you and participate in great discussions. Cheers Corpus
  23. Hello From the States!

Hi folks. I usually just tend to read forums but this one seems to pretty popular so I decided to join. I enjoy philosophy, metaphysics, exercise, and a good laugh! :-)
  24. A salute, a thank you, an introduction

Servus! Actually I stumbled across this forum by chance already more than one year ago. And I am very glad I did for several reasons. One is, that there is almost nothing in the archive that has not been discussed yet. And another, the main - well for me: Through this forum I got to find out about “my” Qigong system, that subconsciously I was searching for decades. Which one, I will share later in the text. After one year that I have discovered TTB it is time for me to stop appearing here just undercover in order to be officially able to contribute to a certain topic. But as well it is a great opportunity to just say hello and thanks to all of you that have shared your thoughts and experiences to these highly informative and interesting topics in a positive and pleasant manner. I usually visit TTB maybe once or twice a month, but if, it mostly keeps me awake till late absorbing one fascinating thread after another “accidently” crossing knowledge, that I would benefit at this very point of my development. Briefly about myself: I live and I grew up in Austria/Europe. Probably due to my origin I am very fond of the extraordinary places in the northern part of the country - the so called forest quarter. Since the age of 18 I felt the urge to practice an inner art and tried Mantak Chia’s Tao Yoga, went to a Qigong class, Tai Chi Seminar, read several books - but there was nothing that I would stick to for more than a few months or weeks until after almost 20 years later - thanks to TTB - I found out about Ya Mu’s Stillness Movement Neigong. I gave it a try and fell in love with its unforced, natural approach, which was very new to me, because usually I would prefer a system that would exactly tell me what to visualize, where to accurately focus on and how to exactly move and breath etc. I guess I couldn’t ignore my technical background there. But with S-M it was mainly about _being_, _letting_ and _witnessing_ what would happen. I’m now practicing S-M for more than one year and for about one month after my first workshop, which was not exactly around the corner, but worth every second spent traveling. I invite you to read my impressions at my upcoming post. All the best!
  25. New Member - How to get started in here?

So I joined the site and it said to come here to post something about myself so I could get started. ( Not much of an introduction to the site.) I came here and was totally confused. But I think I figured it out! Step 1: BREATHE Step 2: Verify account via email that was sent to the email address I used Step 3: BREATHE Step 4: Come back to this area (http://thetaobums.com/forum/41-lobby/) and click the Start New Topic button Step 5: BREATHE Step 6: Post a new topic introducing yourself. Click the Post New Topic button at the bottom of the screen...you're done! Step 7: SMILE <confused on how others would actually waste time reading these posts with all the spam posts but, hey, it's their site so I'm postin.' Here's a novel idea...why not put an introduction text field in the Profile section so people can read about you when they check out your profile? > So TaoBums...is this enough for you to know I'm a real person and not a spambot? LOVE YOU GUYS! VERY GLAD TO BE HERE! (Lemme know if you'd like help on making the user experience a little better. I'd be glad to help.
