  1. I posted more than 30 PDF files that contain bilingual texts of Taoist classics and texts, here (latest DL links at post #56): http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showtopic=8944&st=60 Right now I'm translating Xiuzhen Tu (XZT). (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiushen) I'll post it for free download when it's complete. Although it's one of the two most famous Taoist diagrams, it's not translated into English. (The other famous Taoist diagram is Neijing Tu; see the thread above, post# 60.) I'll post the DL link for the PDF file of the translation (with bilingual text, annotations, etc.) appr. 40 days later (the same thread above). But the only XZT picture I have is an online pic, found in many sites, like this one, http://www.daoism.cn/up/data/090xzht.htm and it's low-resolution. I'll magnify parts of the diagram, so I need a high-res (300 dpi) scan of the diagram. If you have a high quality XZT in a book, etc., please scan it and send me so that I can create a better PDF for all fellow Tao bums and others. Your contribution will be awarded. Thanks in advance. P.S. Please save the picture file as a TIFF file.

SiddhaSan, The texts don't fit into a larger framework. They're not from a specific branch/group/tradition. They'are simply chosen because they were short translations and I could either type the Chinese texts or find them on the Web.

Hi soaring crane, As far as i know, the links are working. Please try latest links, going bottom to top in the entries/pages. I mean from last entry to first entry. Earlier links are nor working because I deliberately remove those older files and post newer links to updated files (new/latest versions of the SAME files). I just tried 2 links in Wiki Xiuzhen tu and Neijing tu pages and they're working, so you should be able to DL them.

  7. More Taoist Classics and Texts

Beloved Bums, I want to make more Taoist classics and texts available in bilingual format (English-Chinese). Being a rootless traveler, I often have my books in another country or city, so I can't always use my own books. You can help me for creating more Taoist texts. If you have any short (or not so short, but not long either) Taoist texts published in different books or in out-of-print journals, you can contribute it. All you have to do is to scan JUST A FEW PAGES (in low-resolution picture format) and send them to me. That way, I can prepare a bilingual PDF file using your text. I want the messages about providing texts to be posted in a separate thread, so please write messages about text exchange in this section, NOT in the main section ("Taoist classics (free download)" under "Off Topic" section).

  9. Xiuzhen tu

    1. I'm not waiting for the pic. 2. I already have ALL the XZT files on the Internet, and they're all low-res. 3. I'm translating the text and I'll finish the PDF file (layout, pics, Photoshop work, etc.) within 2 months (40-60 days). So you can download the file 1-2 months later, from this thread: http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showtopic=8944&st=60

AugustLeo, All texts are copyrighted (respective authors, indicated in the first page and/or the biblio section at the end). As Hardyg pointed out, I disabled the copy function to prevent people from using them freely. There were times I needed to copy/paste a passage in a PDF file, but it was secured (meaning, I couldn't copy), and I cursed the guys who published the PDFs. Unfortunately, I had to do the same thing with these texts. So you guys are free to curse me any way you want. :^) I also disabled the "print" function. It was mainly to save papers; people these days are using papers extravagantly, forgetting that paper = tree, and we're running out of trees in this planet.

How to Read the Notes in the Texts Easily In the files I post, rather than using footnotes at the end of the relevant page, I adopted the current practice of putting the notes at the end of the document. This makes it difficult to read the notes while reading the main text, but there's an easy solution: 1. Make a copy of the file. (Duplicate; shortcut for Mac: Apple+D) 2. Open both files, go to the main text page in the first file and to the notes page in the second. 3. Toggle between the two windows (the two PDF documents) rapidly by using shortcut (shortcut for Mac: Apple+`).
  18. Nei Jing Tu

There's now a free translation (PDF file). The download link is in this thread: http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showtopic=8944&st=40

Downloading Taoist Classics for Dummies Here's the latest versions of ALL the files posted so far. Only 2 files (28 and 96 MBs). Step-by-step instructions for dowload (for some fellow Tao bum[ble]s): 1. Download the files 2. Delete ALL older files in your computer. (N.B: I'm removing the previous versions as I upload the latest ones. So ALL updated texts contain everything that older versions had. Filenames are also preserved. And I'll do the same in the future. So just DL the latest ones and send anything older to trash.) 3. Sit back and simply xiaoyao... DL Links 1. All translation files (Filename: TaoTrs.zip; size: 28 MB) http://www.mediafire.com/file/2ymtd5mjekm/TaoTrs.zip 2. vortex, 1. "Uh sorry, RT - no offense intended." Of course... I didn't take it as an offense or something. I just thought that some of your posts made it a bit more difficult for people to find the actual, working links. It was more like a joke and I laughed a lot when writing it. No hard feelings... Forgive me if I was rude. 2. Thanks for ULing all the texts. Have no problem with changing the filenames. The files are not mine, they belong to all of us. But I just wrote I'll UL them in a few days, so probably wasted your time doing it. Nevertheless, thanks for your efforts.

Replies to SiddhaSan and vortex SiddhaSan, It's not MediaFire, it's me. I'm removing the previous versions as I upload the latest ones. ALL updated texts contain everything that previous versions contained, so you're not missing anything at all. vortex, I hate it when you quote (I mean copy/paste) the ENTIRE INTERNET just to say something so short :^) Yes, the updated file is in TaoText1.zip. In a few days, I'll zip ALL the texts into only 2 files. So you can DL just 2 files and that's it...
