    sex and money

A real master does not have sex with you, full stop.

A real master does not demand much money, just the normal entertainer fees.

yes but what if sex is the entertainment?

I don't put much energy into spotting fake masters; it just doesn't seem that important to me.  During a medical appointment, an acupuncturist/meditation teacher once mentioned to me that he had been levitating.  I didn't ask for proof or question him in any way, and the conversation soon turned to other topics.  Had he really been levitating?  I don't know or much care.  He was a good acupuncturist and a good meditation teacher.  I knew because I felt the results of my time with him in my body.

What advice or tips would you give in order to help someone spot a fake master?

Someone saying they're enlightened when they really are not?

Is there anyway to actually tell?

I think there's only one way and that is close observation over a long period of time (12 years is quoted in texts).  Do they speak the truth?  Are their actions consistent with their words?  How do they conduct themselves?  How do people around them, their close followers behave towards them and each other?

    This kind of thing.

I have never known a good teacher who made any claims about their own enlightenment - usually they downplay their own abilities compared to their own teachers.

  4. @Fatuous,

Hi - there are some texts which describe sexual practices between a male practitioner and female (usually young) subject - but I don't have the references (you might find them if you search the board).  They are definitely non-standard and dubious in nature.  Indeed this very board had an issue with an ex-member doing this kind of thing.  I won't go into details.  But generally speaking it is not ok without consent.  In the old days the status of women was so reduced that some felt themselves entitled to use female subjects for this kind of thing - and to the present day there have been many 'scandals' especially in vajrayana Buddhism where an advanced man 'uses' a female subject in this way.  Even with consent it can still cause harm unless the intent of the other person is properly understood.

There is also a risk that this was just a dream and you could waste a lot of time and energy on what is essentially a fantasy.

Quite a few people learn lucid dreaming in order to have pseudo-sexual encounters and the like.  This again is very dubious - genuine dream yogas have a different purpose entirely.

For what its worth my advice is to stay away from this kind of thing and concentrate on forming real relationships but of course it is up to you.

The post you responded too was from 2016.  I believe Jenny Lamb is now retired.  Her "Self-healing" dvd which has the basic Yi Gong practice was available for download on her website, Eastern Internal Arts Institute.  Max Christianson, of Kunlun fame, used to teach the 2nd and 3rd levels of Kunlun (his name for Yi Gong) but I'm not sure whether he still does publically.  My own sense is that most people are unlikely to need the higher levels: the basic practice will take a person plenty far.

Later edit: Here is an answer to your question from Jenny Lamb's website...

Thank you for your feedback about your experience of practicing Yigong level one and desire for advanced level. I have been retired for many years now. I have no plan to teach advanced level since I have not seen advanced students out there. In fact, Yigong level one can take you all the way to your goal if you allow yourself to deepen into it. There is more discovery in the practice than you think. I suggest you to practice at least 45 minutes each time (if you can). In the weekend, when you have time, make yourself available without time limit, but just end naturally to see what you will learn from it. Please continue to share your discoveries.

Despite the occasional moderation dustup, this forum is mostly placid and peaceful.  Like a quiet mountain lake (or mosquito-infested bog), whole days go by with only occasional ripples, perhaps because the usual suspects are busy shooting stuff.

Seems like ages since we had a moderation dust up.  Must be one coming round soon.

Also I assume you are under someones teachings? From your boomer attempt of mockery, you'd never be a master because you've asked your teacher questions and learned from them.

I have no teachers so I learn everything online. And guess what, I can read multiple books, wikis, articles, blogs, etc simply by using the internet. You boomers need to get with the time.

sorry about my age it’s a curse I know

This Sovereign notices your doubt. Let me impart some insights and perhaps it may persuade you.
Also no need to add the Lord to the Sovereign hehe, I am but a humble Sovereign.
    --------------
The daoist energy body consists of the:
Dantian (energy field)Dantian translates to field of elixir and is believed to be related to higher states of consciousness. Energy of the dantians passes up the spine and there are commonly three known dantians, which is the lower, middle, and upper dantian respectively. If you read my introductory post I had explained that I felt more dantians when practicing and that had allowed me to connect the chakra system to daoism.

Jingluo (meridians) = Is the pathway of the qi and blood circulation (which has no relevancy here (maybe idk, the Nadi is similar to the merdians system i guess??)  but I wanted to impress the Juniors with my myriad of knowledge)

Zangfu (organs) = Which is related to the 5 phases of transformation is heavily related to the chakra system further boosting my confidence in the chakra systems and the dantians connection to each other. (the link will take you to a site in which you can click the article and lead you to the .pdf that explains this in depth, highly suggest you read it Juniors)

Your wisdom astonishes me - who but a true master could explain the Way by linking to Wikipedia and other people's websites?

    Oh and I almost forgot,
This Sovereign will have to admit here though,
even I am not to sure on this as I am a bit iffy on this but I'll explain anyways in a short concise way.

The red, yellow, and blue has to do with masculine affinities

and orange, green, indigo has to do with feminine affinities

as in it's naturally strengthens and just by living..

    any thoughts?

I bow before thee sovereign lord , but ask what apart from labeling the chakras yin and Yang what is Daoist about this?

Another option is to email the file to yourself.

This generally gives you the option to resize before sending.

A little extra work but effective if all else fails.

emailing yourself is the first sign of internet madness

2019, pretty much entirely, was my main shadow year. In my ppj; I have that thread currently hidden. The experience was deep on another level, multidimensional, intersecting, all kinds of elements involved. 2019 was a monumental year for me in life altering events, All of it overshadowed by the Shadow. Remaining fully conscious of that, recognizing everyone else's (it was a small town) conscious efforts with their shadow, at a place where seemingly, shadows ran from themselves, and towards themselves as well.

A couple of things, for now, Jung spoke of, he did mention devil in one passage, and whatever idea you happen to have of "devil" whether a real entity, religious or not, some art motif, something psychological, whatever your notion happens to be, you are going to deal with it, in one form or another at a deep personal level. Up close, eye to eye.

Jung says that keeping something inner situational unconscious leads it showing up outside of us, fateful.

The OP cites Jung saying this again and again, just worded differently.

This aspect of shadow work, in its workings, I found of utmost curiosity and undeniable.

So, five years after, maybe enough time and distance have passed for me to take another look at it, for me personally, I still have some shadow work going on, but nothing like 2019.

"I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves"

With inexplicable tendencies like this I often wonder if a past life is at play, where some ‘power’ was gained but not the full circuit so to speak. Perhaps you sat holed up in a dark cave, or unclothed in a graveyard eating human flesh, etc etc, but this is not what I mean by the shadow self. In your case I agree this is not the way to go, and I see (I think) what you might mean about the enchantment of an illusory power.

To me the shadow self holds pain and it is hard to approach, it holds no allure as pain is not alluring generally speaking, but it must be grappled with. Thanks for explaining what you meant 🙂

Perhaps then the Egyptian shade and the Jungian shadow are not the same thing.

I don't think that my tendancies are inexplicable - it's just the people are different and have different emphases.

“There is a risk of over identifying with it because it seems powerful in a way - but you have to realise that its power is just part of the general mirage of power itself (if that makes sense).” This sentence made me think you were trying to keep it at arms length, because a. you don’t want to over-identify with it, and b. you included it in the general ‘mirage of power.’

I agree with what you say above.

I fully agree that completely yin would be a mistake, but, I think initially yin needs to be overemphasised because it is overly subjected to repression in our society, while Yang is overemphasised. The interesting question for me right now is what fully integrated looks like.

The thing is for me - the allure of the dark side is strong.  I guess for many its just disturbing and something they would like to stay away from - but I feel the opposite.  For me the ordinary world of the day/light is oppressive.  If I gave in to my natural tendency I would stray deep into the dark.  Maybe that's why I like Ancient Egypt and tombs and wotnot, I don't know.  But what i found was that the allure carries with it an enchantment of 'power' which is illusory.  It has power in its own realm - but brought back into the daylight it is nothing.  So maybe I am a bit weird.  But this is what I was talking about.

Are you on windows 10 or 11?

The default photo app can do it: open the photo on your computer, then at the top, there are three dots ( ... ) there is an option to resize.  Drop the percentage a bit or changing the quality from high to medium should do the trick.  It will show you the new size at the bottom before you choose OK, so you can play until it is under the limit 😊.

If your on apple, no idea, I'm allergic to digital fruit.
