  1. Hi Tao Stillness,

I chose that image as closest I could get to my experiences after locating.. and activating... what Scott calls Niwan, the energy center in the very middle of the brain. Never in a zillion years would I have found that without Scott's input, and finding it was a transformational discovery for me.

That said, I'm interested in all things brain, and will definitely have a look at Ken Cohen's piece on brain cleansing.  Thank you!

He has said otherwise on the Merge FB page, even intending to close that page at one point. I haven't heard that he has changed his mind about stepping back, but I hope you're right!

  3. I've taken it before, intermittently, and I always started with 1 T... You could probably very safely start with a teaspoon. I have taken as much as 2 T in a day, but 1 T. just seems like a nice level for me. Usually take it at night with about 1/4 cup of water and a little vinegar, then followed by another 1/4 cup water to wash the somewhat chalky mouthfeel away.  Seemed like a good idea to add a little acid, since I do it on an empty stomach, and DE has a really high pH (8-9).  Just made the vinegar thing up myself, didn't read it anywhere, lol.

A lot of people put it in shakes or mix it with food. That seems to be OK too.

The boron lecture is pretty impressive too...:D Recommended for prostate protection, along with bones and teeth and pineal detox...

  4. I quote myself from back in 2013, from thelerner's thread "Who's interested in becoming a moderator"

Here's another aspect of this that I've been chewing on for a long time. Others probably won't see it this way, but here's what I see.

Most of the mods have been people who were doing really high quality posting. When they started being mods, their Taoist content posting dropped dramatically. I know they worked hard on the board, devoting many many hours to it, and some in particular often were harrassed by pigheaded souls unhappy with particular decisions who seemed to think that all the mods had to do in life was answer questions and justify decisions. Moderating seemed to take a lot of time in technical or refereeing stuff, leaving mods (a lot!) less time for the juicy content posting they used to do. Finally they resign from modding, and then we don't hear much from them, sometimes for a very long time! That makes me sad!

So I actually DON'T want Lerner and Zerostao to be mods!

So who could moderate? Picking the most level headed, wise, and mature content posters may help the board with moderation, but I think it lowers the level of content posting, and even ends up driving these people away after the board "uses them up." Picking people who like to post a lot but don't seem to add much to content doesn't seem likely to raise either the moderating standard or the content standard... and certainly we don't want folks who tend to be contentious to be mods! If modding the board uses up all the best content posters, what happens when we run out of willing people? Do we need to pay someone to moderate? Of course then we'd all have to pay to play, or at least to post.

Does anybody else see this as a problem?

Or maybe there's some way to have moderator helpers, a way to take some of the load off the mods. More appreciation would probably help, and maybe even more pressure on pigheaded (sorry, that's the word that keeps coming up for me) folks who can't just surrender to the fact that thetaobums IS a sort of dictatorship, in that we are having a conversation in "Sean's drawing room", not in city hall! It is NOT a democracy. So get over it!

I don't have the computer system, tech skills, or the time to help with modding, and frankly, I'd rather post content than try to make decisions about okay vs not okay. But I do really appreciate the time and energy many good mods have put into making TTB the great board that it is, and I'd like to see us find ways to ease the toll the job seems to take on these generous people.

  5. If you want to rotate the moderation...

someone has to be willing to do it!

If you want it to rotate, then be willing to step up.
Yes, some of the "need to rotate" folks have taken a (short?) turn at it.

    I barely lasted a month.

It is a very difficult job.

Trying to get new people to volunteer (and stick around)

    has been very difficult.

Any suggestions for solving that part of the "rotate the mods" equation?

  6. I started using these products after watching these video lectures by Dr. Jorge Felchas, MD:

Boron: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJp7SW1pY2I  Boron tells calcium where to go in your body, so especially good for teeth, bones, osteoporosis, and arteries.

Silica: (I have used diatomaceous earth for this, which is approximately 85% silica, and is MUCH less expensive than commercial silica supplements). Excellent for collagen support (skin, wrinkles, sagging, blood vessels, heart conditions etc.)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faBAT3hIbGw

Dr. Flechas also has YouTube lectures on iodine (he's an internationally recognized expert on this) and on my new favorite supplement, PQQ, which bolsters mitochondria, especially in heart and brain. Mitochondria are the tiny energy turbines in your cells. Encouraging them is a really good idea. :D

    Here's Flechas on PQQ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHQUpNZgFhI&frags=pl%2Cwn&fbclid=IwAR2EDoQ8rUlPBeu2VuGxeoCW-YmcIhhtHmxgbIjp02-fkQYkxnfPaamybOc

Here's an article from LifeExtension.org on PQQ:

  7. Something is remineralizing my teeth, but I'm not sure which new product is doing it.
It's either the boron(@ 30 mg per day, 9 months) or the diatomaceous earth, which contains lots of silica as well as other minerals. (One Tablespoon daily in water or food, 4 weeks so far)

    Or both, of course.

I got enthused on these products from watching these two videos by Dr. Jorge Felchas, MD:

    Boron: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJp7SW1pY2I

Silica: (I have used diatomaceous earth for this, which is approximately 85% silica, and is MUCH less expensive than commercial silica supplements)

  8. @MildMouse23, you seem to be under a misconception. Dawei enforced the guidelines Sean set up with careful consult with Sean, who was very busy with his life and had not much time for TDB. Thankfully, that has changed, and Sean wants to change what's happening here. But it was not because the mods were not following his directions as best they could.

So please lay off the old mod team. It is a very difficult job. You have no idea! And they have done the best they could under difficult circumstances. PLUS it's all volunteer service. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude.

Making such a huge shift in the parameters here, it's smart to get a new mod team on board... but not at all because the old team did anything wrong according to the guidelines set up at the time.

(Sean feel free to correct me if you disagree...)

  9. Boron is another mineral that helps get calcium where it's supposed to go, into bones and teeth. Google The Borax Conspiracy to learn a lot about this mineral. The author mentions the pineal as one of the places calcium ends up if you lack boron... which most of us probably do, since there's very little in the soil, except in Israel.

  10. IMO, the mods now displaced have done an admirable job trying to follow Sean's previous directions, and I thank them for all the time and energy they have put into maintaining the site. I know it was a LOT of time and energy, and I am truly grateful.

I might be wrong, but I suspect the emotions, polarization, and contentiousness fired up in the political threads made their jobs as mods much more time consuming and fraught than they would have been otherwise. I don't think it helped that they were also regular participants in the content of the threads, which may have made their modding decisions suspect from some points of view. I can also see why the new lines in the sand that Sean is drawing might make installing a new set of mods a wise choice.

I hope Sean can find willing members to take it on. I do think that modding will be easier when the scope of board discussions has been drawn in somewhat... But I also hope that political discussions that generate lots of emotionally charged disagreement will not feature largely (if at all) in the board going forward... only time will tell.

  11. This isn't qigong, but it's simple, and it did improve my near vision and balance the differences between my two eyes.  Don't get macho with it though.  My neck got kinked the first time I did it, even though it helped my vision.  He says keep your effort at a three, and he means it! Especially the first couple runs through.

  12. If glasses fix the problem, choosing the glasses is a convenient and workable crutch. With Macular Degeneration, glasses don't fix the problem. People go blind... at least to the point they lose central vision and can no longer read, drive, or recognize faces. Tragic!  Avoiding that outcome is really good motivation to do some eye exercises. (These ones seem more like gentle massage around the eyes, concentrating on acupoints)

    • Thanks 1

  13. A friend who was diagnosed with macular degeneration to the point of having the shots in his eye :o.... says he did a set of qigong exercises for the eyes for two months and his eye doc now says he can't tell my friend ever had AMD! That is just so cool!

(It wasn't a Spring Forest or Mantak Chia method. If I find a vid, I'll post it :) )

    So what !

I keep outa the Trump thread for similar reasons .

  15. The confusion between losing one's memory vs maybe becoming more enlightened, learning to live in the now, worries me. There is so much you can do to prevent memory loss, and losing your memory is no longer a one way street. Two MDs introduced below are developing effective programs to reverse memory loss, and a lot of it you can do at home.

In his book The End of Alzheimers, Dale Bredesen, MD, discusses  30-odd factors that can interfere with memory, and what to do about them. Not that you have Alzheimers just because your memory is slipping, but having a look at all the possibilities he has discovered that affect memory might be a big help to you...

Here's a link to an excellent article about Bredesen's research and what he has found:
    https://www.foundmyfitness.com/episodes/dale-bredesen

It's hyperlinked all over the place, so you can pick the elements that interest you. :)

You could also have a look at the work of Dr. David Perlmutter, MD, an innovative neurologist who focuses on the relationship between lifestyle and the brain. His landmark book, Grain Brain, made the connection between grain consumption and brain health five years ago, and there is a revised edition out last December.  He also has other books that discuss the effect of food and gut microbiome on brain function, and a new book, Brain Wash, coming out in January 2020, in which he addresses detoxing the brain.

I hope anyone reading this who is concerned with memory loss in themselves or a loved one will have a look at these books.

  16. I only have time to listen to one at a time, lol.
But I speed up his speech by 25%, which does help.

    Haven't started taking notes yet!

I love the way he doesn't buy into any of the spiritual traditions as a religion, but uses the Bible and other scriptures to explain the energetic/brain stuff I'm curently into... totally about energy and spirit, not about "religion". DK if any of it is "true", but finding it tremendously helpful energetically.

  17. Maybe it came from all that Taiji Ruler I was doing a few years ago. Had to give it up as my hip deteriorated, which would not indicate high kidney qi, alas... Not doing physical practice these days, but really enjoying the Niwan-derived practices that are blossoming lately...

Maybe all this focusing on the centre of my head?  :D
