  1. Hello from the Bay Area

Hi everyone, I've read the DDJ on and off for the last few years and am getting deeper in my reading of it. I'm in my 30s and am a psychotherapist. I'd love to ask questions and learn from you all! I'm posting one question here (mainly so I don't forget it) that I'll ask again in the DDJ group: In Red Pine's translation of the first chapter, he writes "no-name is the maiden of Heaven and Earth". I am confused what 'maiden' means in this context. In Addis and Lombardo's translation, they use 'origin' instead of maiden. But a maiden is a virgin and has not yet given birth. Any ideas on this would be appreciated. I like Red Pine's translation of the chapter very much, but I keep getting snagged on 'maiden'. Thank you
