  1. Stomach pain when trying alcohol

Hello again Feng69, ok, so heartburn usually signifies stomach fire, so we would recommend to eat "cooling" foods. Regarding meat (tonifies the qi, so yes, your perception is right), consider cooler methods of preparing the meat, like cooking, boiling or steaming, and sticking to cooler kinds, like chicken or other poultry. Goat, lamb and venison is "hot", so not suitable for stomach fire, and every preparation with dry heat (baking/roasting, grilling, barbecueing or stirfrying is making food hotter, so get your meat in a nice chicken soup or a stew or as a traditional Austrian Tafelspitz (steamed beef). In addition, try to balance meat with cooler foods (vegetables, steamed fruits etc.) Consider replacing some of it with fish. Provides great protein, omega 3 fatty acids and rather strengthens the yin (also good for the sweating. Red meat develops toxic metabolites in the large intestine, so should be reduced in the overall consumption. (bowel cancer risk) Klonk Sea Turtle
  2. Stomach pain when trying alcohol

Hello Feng69, as Gerard said, highly concentrated alcohol is Yang (hot) and can cause pain in people with stomach fire (burning pain after drinking or eating). Is the pain different if your drink beer, wine or spirits? But this burning pain should also be able to be caused by any other very hot food or drink, like hot spices (chili, cayenne pepper), black coffee, barbecued lamb or game meat. Are you generally hot of temperature? Do you sweat easily? Do you suffer from heartburn/reflux? Does your face and eyes tend to get red? How is your tongue? Red? Yellow coating? maybe a straight crack in the middle? To answer your question, you don´t give enough information. I don´t think from my experience, that martial arts lead to physical problems with alcohol. Rather your mind does not need it that much anymore. Alcohol dissolves tensions and relaxes you,. the same you achieve by martial arts, so you get a better solution to stress. But usually the stomach can still transform alcohol. So I think there must be other reasons, I mentioned a few questions above, maybe you really suffer from "stomach fire" and should reduce all hot foods for a while. Hope this helps Klonk. Sea Turtle

  4. Klonk ...

Slowly sticking my head out again .... Oh. Friendly people Thank you for welcoming me. This is only the second forum in my life and since I am not a digital native (far from) I still battle with finding out, how to even answer your friendly welcome. (Please don´t laugh too hard, but it took me about thirty minutes to figure out how to post my first message) So now, I will slowly make my way through the forum, stopping now and then to nibble some grass, before poking my head in some threads or dark corners. Happy to be here Smiling to myself in the dark. Sea Turtle
  5. Klonk ...

I always wanted to be a turtle and disappear in my shell in situations like this ... entering a big room full of strangers, talking in a language that is not mine. Klonk. (that is the noise you hear, when a turtle pulls all her legs into the shell and hits the floor with her carapace ) And then very slowly stick my head out again and look for a friendly face ... My mother tongue is not English, so please be patient with my English. I work as a medical doctor with Traditional Chinese Medicine and have been practicing Taiji and Qigong for 35 years. I would love to learn more about the Dao De Jing, Daoism in general, Chinese language, calligraphy and much more. Thank you for having me! Sea Turtle
