  1. hello all, I hope everyone is hanging in there during this tough time. After years of seated meditation (and resultant emotional cleansing) I developed lots of energetic phenomenon and was unable to do sitting practice anymore because it led to irritability, insomnia, and more unpleasant energetic phenomenon. I did spontaneous qigong for a while and the emotional cleansing continued and did pretty ok with it. However eventually the energy built up again and I became less and less tolerant of the practice. I tried just a few minutes of standing meditation yesterday (first time in a while) and developed irritability and insomnia. I was told that the seated meditation I did resulted in an upwards flow of energy in my body and I need to work on the downward current. Do you think that the water method of Master Bruce Frantzis Energy Arts systems would be effective for this? I am somewhat hesitant to try another practice, but from what I have learned it sounds like it might be helpful as I understand in the beginning it is all about increasing the downward flow of energy. Would anyone recommend any particular practices from the system for someone in my situation? I have noticed that only one exercise really helped to balance the energy and actually reversed any energy imbalance - Dragon and Tiger exercise 1. Thank you so much.
  2. downward energy flow

Thank you so much I really appreciate it.
  3. downward energy flow

Thank you so much I really appreciate it. Energy Gates book is already on the way think I am going to start there and maybe get the online course too. Last question, do all of the exercises work on the downward flow from Energy Gates or is it just the standing practice? Thanks again.
  4. downward energy flow

This was all about a year and a half ago at which time I made the decision to go in the spontaneous qigong direction. I don't think the spontaneous qigong solved any of these underlying issues (not able to do sitting meditation, regular zhan zhuang) and was causing some intense energetic stuff for a few months so now I am reevaluating my approach. Thank you.
  5. downward energy flow

Great thank you very much. I think it was the one that traced Dai Mai around the belt and then went down to the feet? That might have been the 3rd or the 4th one if I remember. I don't think I practiced much of 2-7 after that. Its crazy how Dragon and Tiger 1 works for me - if I get really overloaded I do it and by the next day I feel fine. I have read and heard its a balancing exercise that balances the upward and downward flow of the body. I am not very knowledgeable about all of this.
  6. downward energy flow

Not necessarily, I don't think so. Not completely still but not racing too much either. I can pretty easily still the mind if I wanted to now a days, its just this problem that occurs if I do any kind of formal meditation or focused attention. Thank you.
  7. downward energy flow

Thank you - not sure if I understand the question fully. I just feel very irritable, on edge, impatient, etc.
  8. downward energy flow

Thank you so much that's very helpful. How did you learn those sets through the books? I did Dragon and Tiger but I remember one or two of the exercises caused me to feel overloaded/imbalanced.
  9. Hello there - I had posted this in the newcomer section recently and am posting it again here. Thank you. I recently heard about this site and was hoping to ask for some advice. I am a qigong beginner - just about brand new to it. I had developed a significant energy imbalance through significant concentration meditation - strong contractions of neck, chest, pelvis which eventually went into significant irritability in daily life along with contractions of body at times and sometimes energy currents coursing up spine. This has lasted many months even after I decreased my practice significantly and stopped concentration work. The dis-ease led me to an acupuncturist/Tai Chi master who did some energy work on me (no needles at first) which helped a lot and then eventually acupuncture for several sessions which had a mixed effect. I recently started learning Dragon and Tiger Medical Qigong from the DVD put out by Bruce Frantzis - I have had significant positive effects just by learning the first movement (Dragon and Tiger meet) and practicing for a few minutes per day. I started very slowly because it seems as though I am very sensitive energetically currently (some practices (such as standing meditation) can make me feel good for a day or two and then give me significant insomnia until I stop). I was told that exercises that store or sink the energy into the dan tian may also be helpful - does any one please have a link to good instructions on how to do this? I have not as of yet have had much conscious experience of chi movement. Also would anyone have any recommendations for other breathing practices by Bruce Frantzis or others that may be helpful in such a situation ? Thank you so much.

  11. hello and question

Thank you so much for your detailed reply.
  12. hello and question

That is really interesting thank you... I was recently on a meditation retreat where they had a qigong teacher and we shook during every class. Will give it a shot. Thank you again.

  14. hello and question

Thank you very much, is it sufficient to have the question here only or should it be posted in a different part of the site as well? Thank you.
