With a specific need it can be faster, sure. When I need sour chocolate milk for my kick-ass mocha cake recipe - I'll sniff the oldest choc milk carton and if it meets my needs, yay! No reason to check all the other cartons for flavor or freshness. (-:

My point is that Lao et al , do not appear to feel we require much of  the baggage of socialization , in order to arrive at good decisions.

The opposition appears to feel , that we do , and it serves to improve our lives by not having to start from scratch, each time we address an unknown.

I think it is good if we have a good set of values whether we remain home or travel.  Good values will always point us in the best direction.

I maybe just view it more like a buffet...  Why should I question the inclusion of something I'll never eat but not question the inclusion of things I want to eat.   Seems in both cases (ie: Forum or buffet), folks go there for some specific things but rarely eat every single dish being offered.

The issue isn't whether there is a problem with having choices or not. The thing I was and am working with is whether the pre-judgement of socialization ( which includes political dogma and divisions by gender ) , is preferable to men and women discussing topics on equal footing without focus on gender association. OR if its good to have partisan ideas not open to 'gray' comprehension. Essentially you are defending something which is 'beside the point' from what I am discussing.

Yeah, most people forget about Kitty.  Prior to her it was rare to see or even hear a female Country artist.  It was she who opened to door for the other female artists in Country music.  (Rose Mattox might be an exception.)  The two ladies who followed Kitty were Dottie West and Patsy Cline.

 

"Country Roads" is an interesting song.  Primarily about wanting to return to the mountains of West Virginia.  But equally about wanting to follow one's heart so I would have to say to your question:  Yes, it is about the Way of Dao as expressed in the heart of man.
