Home page problem

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

When I try to access the home page it says offline, and we will be back soon.

Is anyone else experiencing this?  I can log onto the page by clicking anything but the home page and the site acts like normal. Its easy to bypass but its kind of annoying. Thanks

James

Well, that's at least something... :D

Please bear with us. Staff is aware of the technical issues and trying to solve them.

Sometimes, clearing the browser cache or using a different browser (i.e. Firefox or Chrome instead of Internet Explorer) helps.

Thanks.

The same thing is going on with me, for about a week.  Can't get to the home page, can only go via Courtyard or Pavilion, but if from there I click on the Forums in the left corner to get somewhere else, the page disappears and gives me "Offline, be back soon" message.  Consequently can't access all the forums.  Help would be appreciated.

this

has worked for many in the past.

these infernal machines, one day they work, two days they work, then out of spite they play games with us.

The last time it happened after some overhaul of the forum, someone fixed it, but unfortunately I don't remember who or know how.  What I do remember is that I didn't have to change the browser (which would be a non-solution, since I use what I use and it would make little sense to use something else for just one page.)

Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow?  Meow??  Meowwww???  (This always works for my cat when he wants something, so I decided to try.)  Meowww!!!!  MEOWWWW!!!  M E O W M E O W M E O W........(etc.)

Meow?..

What dad gum operating system and browser are y'all using?  Cause s'times the problem is the pig, other times its the poke.

Hillbilly guyrage and tech support:

If we can't fix it,

we'll guarantee

no one else ever will.

More seriously, on a mac, using latest Firefox, there's no change, it's working fine.

addon again>  This morning on my Mac, Youtubes weren't showing, just sound.  I shut down Firefox then restarted it and youtubes worked properly.  Similarly, half the time one has a problem just shutting off the computer for a minute and two and restarting it solves the problem.  This probably frees up resources and clears out old caches.

Or as Hillbilly tech support would say:

Treat the computer like you would your mother in law at Thanksgiving.

Tell her one more problem, one more word and you toss her out.

She says so much as 'pass the gravy' throw her out, reboot.

When she turns back on, she'll be better behaved.

or she'll never return, in which case

throw the computer out.

they're machines of the devil anyway.

For P.C purposes please substitute whatever ethnic group, minority, majority or relation you prefer for mother in law in the above tale.

Having the same problem.  Firefox and Chromebook won't connect for some reason.  I only got into the forum by doing a Google search and clicking the link there.  Odd.

I use Firefox on Mac (as I always have), and today it's working again.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.
