I'm seeking diet advice

Recommended Posts

I can't remember what most of the diets you mention are, but I too have experimented with many different ones. I think the answer may come down to where on the planet your ancestors came from as too what food will best suit your system.

I apparently thought for awhile, that I may have come from Never -Neverland and tired living on ice cream, cookies, pizza, and cheese enchiladas, but I couldn't sustain my weight that way, without walking 16 hours a day. The asian diet with lots of rice didn't fair much better, although moderation may help with that.

My problem seems to be that once I start eating carbs/sugar, then I crave them, like my body doesn't get enough nutrients, so it wants more. This all led me to realization that I came from Northern European/American indian genes, which, due mostly to the last ice age, meant that meat was the mainstay of my ancestors diet and my body may in fact have evolved to live with a sustainable weight, by eating mostly animal products. I prefer a vegitarian diet, but, I can't seem to maintain my weight, specially if rice or grain products are added. So, Meat and veges seems to be what works for me minus the potatos - I really like potatoes too, almost as much as pizza and ice cream. :(

I'm a mix of Native American and European also. My weight is pretty constant, I can eat whatever I want, not exercise, and I stay the same weight. Or maybe lose weight from losing muscle. But I feel really good on a diet of moderate whole grains, lots of veggies, and good lean meat.

I've been cutting way back on meat lately, partially because I didn't get anything hunting last fall, and I seem to be doing fine. I eat out at my favorite cafe twice a week and usually have red meat there, but otherwise I just have fish once or twice a week, and that's it for meat.

I agree that there isn't a one size fits all diet, unless you're going strictly on spiritual concerns.

Other than yogurt, diary kind of messes me up, even though I love cheese. Take out pizza destroys me. Messes up my system and knocks me out. Nap time. High salt messes with me, as well as heavy, greasy food. But the more of that stuff I eat, the more I crave it.

Sugar messes me up. Luckily I have no strong relationship with sugar, ie it's not a temptation, like a plate of cheese and meat would be. They can set out all the doughnuts they want at work, I'm not touching them. But I love a couple squares of the 88% cocoa dark chocolate after dinner...

I love potatoes but only feel good after eating them if they aren't fried. Boiled, baked or roasted potatoes treat me just fine.

Ok. That's enough self indulgent "everybody listen to what I do!" talk for one night from me... :D

That's what I did for at least two years. While I did feel better, I'm not sure it's not just due to cutting out processed foods, gluten, sugars, etc.

From Paleo to Raw, what I've noticed is when people stop or limit grains, sugars and processed food they get very good results.

I was reading a Raw Vegan book and Paleo at the same time. Both presented anecdotal and lab evidence to back up there claims of providing superior health. What they had in common was stopping or limiting those 3-sugars, grains <maybe they're biologically the same inside the body, both inflammatants> and processed foods.

Figuring out the absolute ideal for a given person at a given moment in time is hard. It might require lots of reading and research, a bit of experimentation to figure out what works on an individual level, and a finely honed ability to listen to your body.

Eating better than 99% percent of the people around you is easy. Cut out sugars, limit grains (especially wheat), and don't eat anything that comes in a box.

The past couple times I've done a lot of cocoa -- I almost lose the alchemical pill while sleeping -- so I got curious - does chocolate have a lot of zinc? sure enough -- it is listed among the top ten foods for zinc! Because the only other thing that consistently causes me to almost always have a dream ejaculation is beef which is also high in zinc. I mean I almost always wake up from my dream and then stop the ejaculation halfway out the organ and then do kegel to stop it and then I go into full lotus until I feel it go up into my brain.

Interesting...

That's good to know. I go through phases where it happens more than others. Haven't tried linking it to diet yet. I'll pay more attention.
