What is right for me?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

So I am interested in meditation which will lead to 'higher' planes. I have started with trying to find my spirit guides, and think I have contacted them once.

I am also interested in magick but the only references I have are franz bardon. the type of magick i would be interested in would be, if possible, to do through knowledge gained in meditation or something I can do alone, but without alot of space.

I am just very interested, as a beginner, for where to start so I can see/experience what my journey. I like it to feel as 'real' as possible. I don't have a set place but I am looking for the start place so I can become more spiritually aware and then deicide my path.

Thanks!

If you are interested in spirituality and knowing yourself better I would recommend starting and ending your practice with Ramana Maharshi and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. Especially Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj :)

Cheers

Although I have very little experience in magic these are supposedly the most basic foundational techniques you need to get started, you'll notice there very similar to Franz Bardon's stuff. I also highly recommend the book by Draja which this excerpt is from: http://thetaobums.com/topic/26048-foundations-of-magical-training/

In regards to expanding ones consciousness and raising ones energy to "higher planes" I recommend practicing Chi Kung. There are many systems out there, find one that resonates with you.

Also, most important of all, work towards practicing virtue or in another words emptying/purifying of oneself....it is very easy to get lost on the path if you are not cultivating emptiness, virtue and self-knowledge (these are the same thing really). Through self-purification you will learn to listen and develop a relationship with ones higher self and find that you "KNOW" and feel what direction is most powerful and positive for you.

My 2 cents, Peace

In my life experiences, significant spiritual experiences came naturally and spontaneously. I didn't seek them nor did I work to achieve them. On the contrary, I never thought much about them. They just came when the time was ready.

Qigong practice for relaxation and health is very beneficial. However, it may be quite counterproductive (possibly even harmful) if you are attempting to achieve something that is beyond your natural situation at the time. I believe that spirituality unfolds as it unfolds in a very quiet and natural way. If you attempt to jump too far the results can be much different than you expect. Each person experiences something different in their lives. Wishing you great wisdom in what unfolds for you.

Read 'The Attention Revolution' by Alan Wallace. Making your mind a highly toned tool is KEY to success not just in any aspect of cultivation, but in life.

Follow up with Thomas Cleary's 'The Sutra of Hui-neng', and you'll have a GREAT start to all this. :)

The practices I suggest to start off with are anapana sati, and some nadi shodana pranayama. However, remember the latter is just an auxiliary to the former.
